Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful,
we must carry it with us or we find it not.

I have wandered all my life, and I have also travelled; the difference between the two being this, that we wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfilment.
Hilaire Belloc

As fun as Faliraki was at night, I'm far too restless to just stay put...so day after day the girls and I wandered up to the taxi stand beside the beach, picked a name place off the board, and went off exploring ~bs~

-= Kalithea Spa =-

Who wouldn't want to bathe in beautiful sun-warmed water in a secluded cove? ~s~

This was our first taste of the beauty of the island; despite it being one of the better known areas, the tourists weren't too intrusive and the attraction of the place spoke for itself...

Don't be fooled by the immediate view of this place; although you arrive at the top of a pretty cliff that overlooks a relaxing bay, the Spa is tucked away down a winding street...and its well worth the walk ~g~

-= Rodos =-

I loved Old Rhodes Town as soon as I laid eyes on the stony walls and old cobbled streets. Although teeming with shop-happy tourists, its retained so much of its ancient surroundings it just took my breath away ~s~ After posing for a picture outside the walls containing the town, we headed to the shops where Gemma picked up this...uhm..interesting hat. ~l~

We ate here at the Sokratous Gardens and came out utterly shocked at how expensive the place was. Once we'd done our maths though, we realised that each complete meal had only cost us £5...far less than we pay here in England. I guess we just got used to eating for £2 everywhere else on the island ~l~ It was a pretty restaurant though...

Rodos is divided twice; half is the modernised, touristy centre of New Rhodes Town, and the other is the more cultural Old Rhodes Town, situated just by the Mandraki harbour. This is where the beauty is ~s~ We wandered off the well-beaten trail of shopping tourists and fount some winding narrow streets...on these were the quaintest cave-like shops, lit only by candles and lanterns and not a soul spoke a word of English ~l~ Just...wow ~s~

-= Anthony Quinn Bay =-

This is the most beautiful place I've ever been in my life. I sat in the clifftop restaurant overlooking the bay and just thought "this is why I wanted to travel..." The clear blue ocean, the pebbled beach and the complete lack of tourists made this somewhere you could truly lose yourself in. Its almost completely unknown to travellers; I only discovered its existence by researching the island before I left England...definitely a place I want to go to again. ~bas~
