You're walking through a deep forest miles from the home that you are staying in. You won't be living there for long, you know, and you need to find a new place to shelter soon, for if you stay in the same place for more than a few weeks, they will surely find you. You have passed many caves and trees that you could shelter yourself in, but none will do -- they are much too obvious.
There is a thin layer of snow on the ground, and you wish you had brought your winter clothes with you, for you do not know how long you will be gone. The tips of your slightly pointed ears stick out from the sides of your hat. You shiver as you feel the cold wind nip at any skin that you don't have covered. A wolf can be heard howling in the distance, and you smile, comforted at the thought that friends are nearby. A single crocus is starting to bloom near the side of the path that you are on, and you warn it that even though it is late in March, it is still not warm enough for the flowers.
You stop suddenly as you think you hear footsteps, and they aren't those of any of your forest-friends. Quickly, you jump up and swing yourself onto a tree branch that was a few feet over your head. You climb higher into the tree, glad that you were brought up in the woods, or otherwise you would probably not be alive now.
The footsteps are coming closer, and by now, you know that they are those of your enemies. You have no place to hide, and they will surely spot you in the trees. You quickly look around you for a place to hide, and sure enough, you see a cave on top of a hill to your left. "If I venture into the cave, they may find me," you think, "but if I stay here, I am surely dead." So you carefully jump into the next tree over and keep doing so until you reach the cave. Jumping down from the large oak that you are in, you quickly move into the mouth of the cave.
You realize instantly that the cave is very deep and goes down for miles. Before you, are three different paths to take. Which do you decide to take?
