Chapter 27

“I did it again!” I grinned triumphantly.
“I let you win!” Nick protested.
“Whatever!” I cried and skipped down the bus. By then it was night time and time to get settled down. Jessie was tired so she went to bed. Nick and I climbed onto my bunk and looked out the window. We were miles from civilization and outside the stars shown brightly.
“Hold on,” Nick said and jumped off the bunk. He headed to the front of the bus. Soon he came running back, took my hand, and led me out of the now-stopped-bus. He let go of my hand, tapped me on the shoulder, leaned over to my ear, and whispered, “TAG! YOU’RE IT!” He ran. Of course, I chased him until I tagged him back and the game continued.
“What tha?” Kevin and AJ said stepping off the bus.
“Yo Frack! What’re you doing?” AJ called.
“Playing tag with Meg! What does it look like?” Nick yelled.
Everyone came out and smiled at our antics.
“Wow, I didn’t think anyone had as much energy as him!” Brian commented.
Nick an I were still playing as hard as ever and laughing the whole time. He lunged at me but I moved and he hit the ground. Not too hard ‘cause he got right back up and ran after me again.
“Come on guys, we have one hour until we can get to a hotel so just come back on the bus!” the driver yelled. We walked back into the bus.
“That was fun,” I breathed.
“Yeah,” Nick agreed.
“Time fore bed! One hour of sleep at least!” Donna called.
“G’night baby,” I kissed Nick good night and went to my room where Denise and Jane were just getting ready for bed. I got my sleeping clothes and walked to the bathroom. I walked in, quickly changed, and walked out. Nick ran up and hugged me.
“Let her go to sleep, Nick!” Donna yelled.
“Night sweety,” he whispered. I returned it and left to go to bed.
