Chapter 6
Rachel was shocked beyond belief, and she brought a shaky hand to her cheek.
She had never been slapped before - or even yelled at for that matter.
Seeing the reaction on her face, Litt chuckled slightly and shook her head.
"You've had a pampered childhood, haven't you? That's why my life fascinates
you so. Because you have no idea what it's like." She looked upon her
pityingly. "I feel sorry for you, actually. You’ve just been properly
introduced to the world." Smiling smugly she said, "Welcome to America,
Rachel. Welcome to the real world."
Litt didn't really pity her, she envied her to the greatest extent.
Sometimes she would just lie awake at night and fantasize about the perfect
life.
Rachel was finally able to form words, and she shrieked, "How dare you! What
right do you think you have doing that?!"
"What right do you have going through other people's things? That was
uncalled for and you know it. You shouldn't have done it, but you did
anyway. You got caught in the act, and you simply walked away as if you were
at no fault. You think you can get away with anything, and sorry to bust
your bubble, but you ain't gettin' away with ANYTHING while I'm around. You
got that? You are messin' with the wrong person."
The shock had worn off, and Rachel began crying. Litt looked at her
incredulously and almost laughed. Thinking how ridiculous it was, she
couldn't help herself and began chuckling, then laughing lightly, and
finally laughing so hard she thought she was going to pee in her pants.
"What's so funny?" she demanded in between sobs.
"You're so pathetic!" she said as she calmed down. "That was nothing!"
"What are you talking about? That hurt like hell, and it's going to leave a
mark!" she wailed as she cried uncontrollably.
Litt laughed again. She hadn't laughed so much since she had been with
Brian. The thought immediately made her stop. She looked at Rachel and
raised an eyebrow. "You wanna see something that'll leave a mark?" She
proceeded to lift up her shirt and revealed a scar that ran diagonally down
her stomach.
Rachel's jaw dropped and she looked at Litt with a new found respect.
Litt understood that Rachel had finally realized the impact of her life and
she nodded. "Ain't reality a bitch?"

For the rest of the day Lit worked her shift and by the time she got home,
she was exhausted. She had spent all of her time recommending CDs and
collecting plenty of commission. She was quite satisfied with her first day
at work - and so was her manager.
Walking down the hall to her apartment she decided she would spend the rest
of her free time at the beach, under the beautiful full moon.
She unlocked the door and as she opened it, Kat jumped off the couch and
quickly came towards her. There was a strange look in her eye. Litt looked
at her questioningly and she said, "Someone's here to see you." Her voice
shook a little.
Litt's eyes narrowed. She really didn't know anybody in Miami besides her
roommates and co-workers. She frowned with a puzzled expression and asked,
"Who is it?"
Suddenly someone came around the corner, with an evil grin on his face. It
was a triumphant grin. "Daddy's back," he announced.
