Joe Hahn and The seed
just adding this bit of news i know it was on front page but i like to keep bits for peeps who miss out!

Linkin Park DJ Enters Film World

August 10, 2005

Linkin Park DJ Joseph Hahn has been behind the camera for most of his band's award-winning videos and has now directed his own short film, The Seed, which he hopes to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival next January.

The film stars actor Will Yun Lee (Torque, Die Another Day) and involves a homeless war veteran who has trouble deciphering reality and imagination. The story was written by Hahn and his partner Chris Denham. Since it is very difficult to get short films seen in the States aside from a few cable networks, Hahn plans to make the The Seed accessible online. "Through my short career as a video director, I've gained a lot of fans," he told Rolling Stone. "I definitely want to make it easily available to all of them. So I'll give it to some people to post on their sites, and I might post it myself."

While his filmmaking career seems to be gaining momentum, Hahn's top priority is still Linkin Park. "That comes first," he said Rolling Stone. "Linkin Park has to get back in the studio and go on tour. We love playing...so we just have to make a good record, and hopefully people will come out again."

Motley Crew and Chester single news.
Motley Crue & Linkin Park's Chester Bennington Support American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Efforts
Motley Crue will donate all proceeds from a specially recorded rendition of their hit song "Home Sweet Home" to the hurricane relief efforts of Mercy Corps and the American Red Cross.
"The chance to perform with these guys for such a great cause is something really special," said Chester Bennington. "Hopefully, people will embrace it in the way it was intended. The song really does fit the sentiment and something special happened when we pulled it together. Everyone felt as if they were doing something really important." Said Nikki Sixx, "This song, both musically and lyrically, relates to many of the things that are happening now, as the hardest hit areas set out to rebuild."
The song will be available exclusively on iTunes starting today (9/27). Distributed by The Orchard, the track will later be carried by all other major digital music services in the U.S. including eMusic, Napster, MSN, Real/Rhapsody, and Yahoo!/Musicmatch. The Orchard will also supply the single through its distribution partnerships with leading mobile companies. Motley Crue, Chester Bennington and The Orchard are donating 100 percent of their proceeds to be evenly split between Mercy Corps and the American Red Cross.
Though the sentiment applies to all areas affected by the hurricane, the music video focuses primarily on New Orleans. Crue vocalist Vince Neil said the city had a special meaning for him since it's where he first proposed to his wife. "It happened right on Bourbon Street," he said. "And to see what's happened there is just terrible. I can't believe it." Added Tommy Lee, "We tend to be desensitized by the non-stop media coverage of the relief effort, thinking there's nothing more we can do. We're just happy to have a song and a video that keeps the awareness of how monumental this task is and that we have to keep trying to do everything we can to help."
A CD single release is planned for the song for traditional retail outlets and will include exclusive behind-the-scenes "making of" documentary.

Talinda Pregnant?
Mood:  don't ask
LINKIN PARK Frontman Gets Into Scuffle With Nightclub Bodyguard - Aug. 31, 2005

The New York Daily News is reporting LINKIN PARK frontman Chester Bennington blasted a Mansion nightclub bodyguard, alleging that the security man had shoved his pregnant girlfriend. "He was forcibly pushing her away with his arm and I had to get in between them," Bennington said. "So I shoved him back." The rocker revealed that he may bring legal action against the club, and said he spit on one of the bouncers as he stormed away from the party.

Bennington is currently working on his solo debut, tentatively due in early 2006. The singer is reportedly working with producers (and ORGY members) Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck on the as-yet-untitled CD. Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Morning After" and "Walking in Circles". Bennington is said to be "especially psyched" about a new song, which a friend says "sounds like T. REX," according to RollingStone.com.

LINKIN PARK's sophomore album, "Meteora", sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, and the band's most recent release, last December's mash-up album with rapper Jay-Z, "Collision Course", debuted at the top of the chart.

Add "Faint" to your DVD collection
posted by Jas, 09/03/05
Got this LPU newsletter too yesterday but forgot to post it, it's about a Director's Label DVD which will feature Mark Romanek's best work which includes the "Faint" video. More info from the newsletter below.

Many of you participated in the Linkin Park video shoot for "Faint" and remember standing in a crowd in front of a wall of lights, jumping and screaming at the top of your lungs while the band played "Faint" onstage. The experience was great and the finished music video even more amazing. This was the genius of director Mark Romanek.

This coming September, Palm Pictures will be releasing their next series of Director's Label DVDs featuring the work of groundbreaking directors, including Mark Romanek. The DVD will feature Romanek's best work in music videos, exclusive new works, as well as interviews and commentaries from the artists and other collaborators. This includes commentary from Mr. Hahn on "Faint."

"…We come from a visual background and we're really hard on making everything enhance where the music's going. For me, there's only a short list of directors that I would trust as far as making that happen and Mark Romanek is definitely one of them."

To help promote Linkin Park, any or all of the other artists featured above, and/or Mark Romanek's work, sign up for the Online Directors at onlinedirectorsteam.com. Spread the word and enter for your chance to win a Linkin Park Faint Promotional Plaque featuring limited edition collectible Faint cards, a Panasonic D-Snap camera, or a signed set of Directors Label DVDs. LP frontman debut album update
Online edition of Rolling Stone magazine has posted their short article about LP and Chester's solo album. Heres the article again:

With Linkin Park in the early stages of writing the follow-up to 2003's blockbuster Meteora, frontman Chester Bennington is readying his solo debut. "We took Nineties rock, mixed it with Eighties pop like Depeche Mode, the Cure and Bauhaus and smashed them together," says Bennington. "It's f***in' driving beats and walls of guitars."

Songs like "Morning After" and "Walking in Circles" are in the can, and Bennington is especially psyched about a new song, which a friend says "sounds like T. Rex." Linkin Park hope to preview new material on the road next summer. Meteora sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, and the band's most recent release, last December's mash-up album with rapper Jay-Z, Collision Course, debuted at the top of the chart.

New FM coded message
Theres a new coded message on the Fort Minor website.

'The Rising Tied' contains a song called 'Back Home". It features Styles of Beyond and Common, although the four vocalists are not all from the same home city. This song was an opportunity to reflect on what gives their respective home towns identity and in doing so discover the similarities.

Mike to attend Nisei Week Japanese Festival

Mike Shinoda has been named the Honorary Parade Marshal for the 65th Annual Nisei Week Japanese Festival grand parade which will take place in Little Tokyo, LA on Sunday, August 14 starting at 4 p.m.

The 65th Annual Nisei Week Japanese Festival's Grand Parade will be held in Little Tokyo on Sunday, August 14 starting at 4 p.m. The parade route starts at Central Avenue traveling west on 2nd Street, north up Los Angeles Street, then east on 1st Street and finishes at Central Avenue. Parade participants will include the newly crowned 2005 Nisei Week Queen and court, many local community groups, high schools, elected officials and representatives from Nagoya, Los Angeles' sister city, as well as queen and court members from Hawaii, San Francisco and Seattle communities. This year's Grand Marshall is Frances Hashimoto, owner of Mikawaya and long time supporter of Nisei Week and the Little Tokyo community. Colonel Young Oak Kim (Ret.), chairman emeritus of the Go For Broke Educational Foundation was named Honorary Grand Marshal. The 2005 Parade Marshal is David Ono, anchor of KABC-TV's 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. news; and Honorary Parade Marshal is Mike Shinoda, guitarist of rock band Linkin Park.

"It is important that we honor those pillars in our community who have really gone above and beyond to ensure Little Tokyo is around for generations to come, yet also recognize those who represent diverse segments of the community," said Hayato Tamura, president of the Nisei Week Foundation. "We are extremely pleased to recognize France Hashimoto, Col. Young O. Kim, David Ono and Mike Shinoda. They truly represent our rich and diverse community and we are honored they are a part of this year's Nisei Week Festival. We encourage everyone to come out to the parade as well as other fun, family oriented events."

To introduce a new audience to Nisei Week, Mike Shinoda was named Honorary Parade Marshal. Shinoda attended the Art Center College of Design, and found that juggling art and music was exhausting. He attended band practice after school every night, but his diligence paid off. More than 35 million albums later, Shinoda is known as rapper, part-time guitarist, and beat-maker for Grammy award-winning rock band Linkin Park. Shinoda is very philanthropic, and in the last five years he started a scholarship at his alma mater, and been involved with the United Way, AIDS Project Los Angeles, Densho, Japanese American National Museum, Arthritis Foundation, and Make-A-Wish Foundation. Last year Linkin Park started Music For Relief to aid the rebuilding of South East Asia, raising more than $2 million for relief efforts.

The 2005 Nisei Week Japanese Festival takes place in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo District from August 13-21. For calendar of events and volunteer information on the 65th Nisei Week Festival, please log onto www.NiseiWeek.org or call the Nisei Week Festival office at 213/687-7193 or fax at 213/687-6510. The Nisei Week office is located at 244 South San Pedro Street, Suite 303, Los Angeles, Calif., 90012. -
