Meet
the Director
Mr. Jeff Street is entering his fourth
year of teaching at South Rowan High
School where his teaching assignments
include Marching Band, Concert Band,
Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, Wind
Ensemble and a Special Education Class.
In May, he was named as the 2002-2003
South Rowan High School Teacher of the
Year. He received his undergraduate
degree from the University of Connecticut
in 1991 where he served as the drum major
for the University of Connecticut
Marching Band for three of his four
years. Mr. Street also graduated with a
Masters of Music Education degree from
VanderCook College of Music in Chicago,
Illinois, where he was a graduate
assistant, in 1996. He previously taught
middle school band at Vernon Center
Middle School, Vernon, Connecticut, from
1991-1993, Mount Pleasant High School and
Middle School, Mount Pleasant, North
Carolina, from 1993-1995 and Windham High
School from 1996-1999, where he was the
system-wide music coordinator, band
director and orchestra director, and was
named as the 1999 Windham High School
Teacher of the Year.
Mr. Street is affiliated with the
National Education Association, North
Carolina Music Educators Association,
Music Educators National Convention and
is an honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma,
a music service fraternity. He served as
the Bands of America Volunteer
Coordinator from 1992-1996 and was a
member of the Bands of America staff
while working towards his masters degree.
Some of his hobbies include listening to
music, playing golf, watching baseball
and spending time with his family. He is
married to Kelly Street, a 1986 graduate
of South Rowan High School. They have two
children, Patrick (age 4), and Ryan (age
)
