SCMBA is trying Fantasy Band for the first time in the year 2004! The rules are listed below, they are similar to those of JRIADA except that they are for South Carolina Competitions instead of BOA Regionals.

The Rules for SCMBA Fantasy Band 2004 are as follows:

Part I: Band Selection

For each South Carolina State Championship (and occasional local competitions)
1. SCMBA Fantasy Coordinators (FC) will allot each participating member One Hundred (100.00) points with which to select their 3 groups.

2. SCMBA FC will then assign a cost to each band in the respective captions. The points will be assigned based on past performances and season expectations.

3. Participating members will select three (3) different bands, one for each of the BOA captions: Overall Music Performance, Overall Visual Performance, Overall General Effect.
A) A band may only be selected for ONE (1) unique caption
B) Bands may be selected once per competition
C) You are using the 100.00 points to buy the band's scores

4. Participants will spend a MAXIMUM of 100.00 points. Not using all 100.00 points is perfectly legal however, you still have to pick 3 bands.

Part II: Scoring for each member

1. Once a member has selected their 3 bands for the upcoming Competition, They adopt that bands actual scores for that competition.  

2. The scores for each respective band in each respective caption (Music, Visual, GE) will be tallied up and awarded to that respective member for that week.

Part III: Ranking and point distribution

1. After competition scores are distributed, each member will be ranked PER COMPETITION. Thus, if there are two or more Competitions on a given Saturday, there will be two or more SCMBA Fantasy Contests that day.

2. Points will then be awarded to members based on their rankings for that day. Points will be distributed by this system:
1st Place: 10 points
2nd Place: 7 points
3-5th Place: 5 points
6-15th Place: 2 points
16th and Below: 1 point

(These points are not used as extra spending points on top of the 100.  Every week you have only 100.00 points to spend.  They are how we determine winners at the end of the contests.  Whomever accumulates the most of these points is declared a winner.)

Part IV: Bonus Points and Tie Breakers

1. Bonus points will also be awarded to Members who choose Caption-winning Bands
Music and Visual Caption Winners - 1 bonus point
GE Caption Winners - 1 bonus point

2. IN THE EVENT OF A TIE, the tie will be broken by placing the band with the LOWEST number of their 100.00 points used (thus, the most efficient band) AHEAD of the band with the higher point usage (think of it like football payrolls). Example of a tiebreak: Score Points Used
Competitor Bob's Band: 83.55 94.00
Competitor Matt's Band: 83.55 96.70

Bob's Band is placed ahead of Matt's band because he used less points to get the same score.

Part V: End of Season Rankings

1. Once all competitions are complete, all placement points and bonus points will be added together and the final rankings will be placed.

2. Additional End-of-Year points will be awarded for:
-Single Highest Regional Score (10 points)
-Highest Average Score for the entire season (10 points)

To be considered for the highest average award, members must compete in 90% of the total regionals.

Send a list of your 3 bands WITH CORRESPONDING CAPTIONS INCLUDING POINTS to scmbanda@yahoo.com with subject line "FB (Local Competition Name Here)" and/or "FB 5A,4A,3A,2A,or 1A State Championship".  Use the competition name that applies.

This would be an example of what to send in:
-Band A, Music: # Points (from the table above)
-Band B, Visual: # Points
-Band C, GE: # Points
-Total Used Points: (total points from above 3)

Total # of Points cannot go over 100.  It is ok to not use all 100 points.
