DEFEKT TEARS THROUGH THE SCENE
In April of 2000, a group of catholic school boys tore through San Antonio opening the eyes of many. Defekt is a four-piece band that draws its roots from alternative to hard-core and they play only original songs composed by the band members. This group was formed by T.J (guitar). He organized the only group of guys from his school that wanted to jam, and they have exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Defekt is known for their stage energy, which is led by T.J who never leaves a show without pulling a muscle, or cuts or bruises from his high voltage performance. Fred (vocals) is known for jumping everywhere and throwing his head around while never losing a breath to hit his next note. This 15 year old can sing!!! While the music is hard hitting, his vocals are very melodic and catchy. Jeff (bass) is known for his slap bass, this kid can jump around and still slap that bass to the fullest extent. Matt (drums) is known for his hard hitting. His wicked double bass adds a new depth to this band. These kids have the ability to keep a crowds’ full attention during a show. Attention grabbers for their shows includes the guitarist jumping off stage into the mosh pit and he also sometimes falls off stage; he is so into the music and the fans he forgets about the stage, the singer pulling at his hair while he is thrashing his head around, and their timed jumping which shows they put a lot into stage performance as well as the music.
Over the last year, Defekt has played in many venues around San Antonio such as Sunset Station, The White Rabbit, Sam's Burger Joint, Mars Music, The Peacock Center, many fund-raisers, music festivals, and tons of parties. These high school kids know how to put on a good show and grab the crowds’ attention.
