The accessibility to a trumpet player proved harder than was expected, and Joe, Ryan, and Mike soon realized the difficulty in writing out trumpet parts for every song. The trumpet idea was spent, and the band was happy as a three piece group. Since the very beginning of the band's formation, however, there was supposed to be another member. Due to some difficulties he was not able to play with the group at the time. These difficulties did not stop the band and soon they got their first gig. It came as a last minute surprise to the band, but they pulled things together and played a concert for students at their school. The band was well recieved and soon Speedbump was being booked for huge gigs in Seattle, opening for such bands as Radiohead and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Actually, they only got booked for a Coffee House gig at their school, and a variety show. Speedbump became somewhat of a favorite at thier school and eventually got some recording time at Ocean Sound studio, laying a couple of tracks down on CD. The band also accepted a new member, Marty Goodlad, who was an experienced bass player. This gave Ryan the oppurtunity to move over to his true love. Well actually, cream of mushroom soup is his true love. I guess this would be his second love; guitar. Speedbump is going strong and they're going for the burn. They're going to sweep the Valley with their original style and sleek band T-shirts. (Which will be avalable soon). So sit back, and prepare to be amazed at the newest sound in high school garage bands... Speedbump. Home| Back |
