The Past And The Future

Here is a summary of the concerts the band has had and is supposed to play, also some other stuff that we have been through or are planning to do.

Rallarrock 2000

The band played at this "festival" just as another project, but we had a great time and received words of praise, despite playing only four covers: "Plush" - STP, "Mothers of the Disappeared" - U2, "Last Kiss" - F.Wilson og "All Along the Watchtower" - B.Dylan

Ice Studio, Narvik July 2000

First time in a studio for most of us. Asbjørn Mentzoni Olsen both produced and mixed, and we got to record our three first songs during some hectic days. Lots of fun, and we learned a plenty! The result was the demo "Love Struck Hands"

Samfunnet, Bodø 25.08.00

What a gig!!! Everyone having a great time, approx.. 450-500 made the facilities crowded all the way up to the fire-limit. The sound was awesome, both in and out of the stage, which is a magnificent stage to play on. All expends was covered and beer was on the house, perfect! We'll be back in March. Playlist:

  1. "Tøff i Pysjamas" - DeLillos
  2. "Let It Out" - Fluent Interplay
  3. "Mr. Jones" - CountingCrows.
  4. "Hot One" - VelvetGoldmine OST
  5. "Birds Arrive" - Fluent Interplay
  6. "Last Kiss" - F. Wilson
  7. "Kungfu Fighting" - C. Douglas
  8. "Love Struck Hands" - Fluent Interplay
  9. "Another Place, Another Time" - Fluent Interplay
  10. "All The Small Things" - Blink 182
  11. "Too Much Loyalty" - Fluent Interplay
  12. "Ship Song" - Nick Cave
  13. "Another Brick In The Wall" - Pink Floyd
  14. "Rocking In a Free World" - N. Young
  15. "Eye Of The Tiger" - Survivor
  16. "All Along The Watchtower" - B. Dylan
  17. "With Or Without You" - U2

The concert resulted in the live-album "Live at Samfunnet, Bodø 25.08.00"

Bjerkvikdagan 01.09.00

This concert, just a week after the great experience that Bodø was, became a sort of an anticlimax, but we got more experienced at stage as a band, and we got paid enough to cover the time spent in Ice Studio and a little bit more... It was nice to share the stage with Vidar Vang. We played almost the same set as in Bodø, except "Tøff i Pysjamas", "Mr. Jones", "Another Brick In The Wall" and "With Or Without You".

Telegrafen, Narvik 21.12.00

This was our first concert in our hometown all by ourselves as "Fluent Interplay". The deal we settled for was that we got all of the income from the the cover charge, but we had to take care of all the equipment. The audience in Narvik is known to be rather boring, so it was a gamble when we decided to almost only play our own stuff. Throughout the concert we just played two covers. We hung up some posters and tried to get some PR for the concert and hoped that at least 100 persons would show up. The fun part of it all was that so many people came that the premises had to close the doors several times because it was too crowded. Approximately 250 person came that night, so we got some money that night.... And we managed to "rock the joint". Reidar made a rather funny program that we handed out to the visitors, and he wrote the whole set as a poem:

First Set: "If you feel Some Kind Of Love, then you better release your feelings and Let It Out, or else you might have to move to Another Place, Another Time. There you'll probably end up being the Hot One. So when you're there you can watch Birds Arrive, but still you're watched 'cause you'd be Wearing The Mask Of a Man listening to the sounds of life in the shape of Norwegian Folklore and live your life for no more than 70 Days"

Second Set: "Blessed with Too Much Loyalty easily evolves into experiences that will leave tears in Your Eyes and a feeling of weakness 'cause the everlasting Train Of Emotions has run you over and left you with Love Struck Hands. But hope still flows and outside you can see the Winter Sky from your vacant castle that rises like a Watchtower over the earth as you falter to the ground"

Rallarrock 2001

Three bands with Interplayers appeared at this years Rallarrock, which took place at Lokstall 1 in Narvik. First Syto Plasma (Thomas & Bjørnar) played at Friday. Then, at Saturday, Politirazzia played. No names can be mentioned, but it was cool! Fluent Interplay entered the stage very late at Saturday so the joint was packed. Lots of people and lots of fun.

  1. "Too Much Loyalty"
  2. "Your Eyes"
  3. "Norwegian Folklore"
  4. "Train Of Emotions"
  5. "Winter Sky"
  6. "Watchtower" - B.Dylan

Hønsehuset 23-25.03.01

The second time we've been recording, and still got lot to learn. Managed to record 6 new songs. Are at HH was amazing. Two days of blood, sweat and tears but worth every nickel. We haven't yet decided what to neme this product or what we sould do with it, but he who waits...

Samfunnet, Bodø 30.03.01

Afterski at Samfunnet. Just about 70-80 persons showed up for this concert, but they got to see the new Interplayers. We've been working with our stage performance, and we managed to create a good performance. The ones who came, said they'd had a very good time. Nice to recieve that kind of feedback. We played a mixture of covers and fresh Interplay material:

  1. "Some Kind of Love" - F.I.
  2. "Summer of '69" - B.Adams
  3. "Norwegian Folklore" - F.I.
  4. "Don't Panic" - Coldplay
  5. "Too Much Loyalty" - F.I.
  6. "Billie Jean" - M. Jackson
  7. "70 Days" - F.I.
  8. "Baba O'Reilly" - The Who
  9. "Train of Emotions" - F.I.

  12. "Splitter Pine" - DumDumBoys
  13. "Your Eyes" - F.I.
  14. "Freestyler" - Bomfunk MC's
  15. "Watchtower" - B.Dylan

Telegrafen, Narvik 27.07.01

Another concert at Telegrafen, this time with sound by Bjekvik Lyd, which was very good, especially the sound at stage! It came a nice crowd, and they after a short while they were rockin' too. They were singing along and gave us a great time. The feedback we received afterwards was amazing, and up to this date it's our best performance.

Samfunnet, Bodø 24.08.01

This was our third concert at Samfunnet under a year, another opening-party at Høgskolen. The rumours said that it was sold about 600+ tickets, and that is nice to know. The crowd was cheerful (and a bit drunk... :-) ) and they and the crew made it yet another great experience at Samfunnet. Back again soon?!?!

Bjerkvik RockStock 31.08.01

Rock-festival during Bjerkvikdagan, which was made as a competition between the bands that participated. It also included Vidar Vang as the headliner. We encountered a great Tromsø-band called Hangface, whom wom the prizes for best band and best stageshow, and it was well deserved. We were incredibly happy 'cause we won the prize for best song, "Some Kind Of Love"

  1. "Some Kind Of Love"
  2. "Norwegian Folklore"
  3. "Train Of Emotions"
  4. "The Core"
  5. "Watchtower" - Dylan

Sinus, Bodø 01.09.01

Vidar Vang has just started his Norwegian tour with his band, Friemann, and this gave us a chance to back them up. The stage was great, and Berntsen provided perfect sound. It was a lot of people there already when we started playing, and when Vidar entered the stage it was really crowded. We played very well and got a lot of positive feedback even though Magne couldn't play this day. Even received a nice review: Nordlands Framtid.

  1. "Train Of Emotions"
  2. "The Core"
  3. "Some Kind Of Love"
  4. "Watchtower" - Dylan

    Boom 2002, Samfunnet, Bodø 06.10.01

This is so cool! We got invited to compete in a local competition with three other bands, and we won! The prize was a all-expences-paid tour with a nice fee for every concert. And the best part was that the bands we beat was of great quality! One of the band beat us in the other competiotion we participated in during October. (below)

    Zoom 2002, Sinus, Bodø 20.10.01

Zoom is a Norwegian and British competition that starts locally with small comp. for the local bands. We didn't win this time, but lost for a band called "Minus Mike". Unfortunately they didn't do so well in the main event, so they didn't get to go on the Zoom2002-tour. We didn't play a particullary good gig, and with 7 good bands we didn't deserve to win that night!

    Fluent Interplay Turné, februar 2002

Under this heading I was supposed to write about the magnificent tour we were supposed to have been to, but it's delayed. Be back with more 'bout this later.

    Rallarrock, Narvik 15-16.03.02

We love Rallarrock, and try to support the local events that takes place in Narvik, and not to mention the man behind the plan, Rune Edvardsen. Keep on rockin', Rune!!!

    Lofoten, april 2002

Some guys in Lofoten (FOT) wants us to play a gig or two up there... We'll see when that takes place, and if it does at all...
