So it's pretty much every  other Tuesday night the band is playing at George's Southside on the corner of Highland and Staring, every Friday at the Spanish Moon on Highland Road, and we have a session about once a month.

What is a Session?

Basically, at a session, you get a chance to play with the band. We'll open it up to anyone who can play an instrument--that is,
any traditional Irish instrument: fiddles, flutes, guitars, bodhrans, pennywhistles, etc. No tubas or tympanis please. Kazoos welcome.

This will be acoustical only. Here is a list of some popular tunes played at sessions:

Jigs
Banish Misfortune, Blarney Pilgrim, Connachman's Rambles, Gillian's Apples,
Irish Washerwoman, Kesh Jig, Lark in the Morning, Leitrim Fancy, Out in the Ocean,
Road to Lisdoonvarna, Swallowtail Jig, Ten Penny Bit
Reels
Bucks of Oranmore, Drowsy Maggie, Castle Kelly's, Cooley’s, Dunmore Lassies,
Fairy Reel, Longford Tinker, Maid At the Spinning Wheel, Mason's Apron, Merry Blacksmith,
St. Anne's Reel, Red-Haired Boy

Most of these tunes can be found on the internet. Some good sites are: blackflute or tunes of erin.

These sights have many other traditional tunes that you may know. Bring em!
If you are a beginner, bring your instrument anyway and see what you can do!

Join us for good music over dark pints!

Even George W. likes to sit in on a session.
