Shiloh

Children’s Home & School

“Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.” Matt 18:5

In the midst of a dark land Pastor James was given a burning desire and a far-reaching hope for the poor children of his native land Pakistan.  After forty years, in the spring of 2000, the Lord began building an orphanage and children’s day school that He has named “Shiloh”.  Shiloh, located in Punjab province, was completed in March of 2003 and has 50 orphans and more than 300 studentsShiloh has no missions’ organization backing and has been built with individual contributions primarily from America.  Faith Harvest has been blessed with a relationship with Pastor James and Shiloh since December 2001.

Shiloh is home to Christian boys and girls ranging in age from 4 to 12 years old.  All of the children have lost at least their father and several have been abandoned by their mother.  Sometimes when a “Christian” mother remarries and converts to Islam the new family will not take the Christian children.  Also, life expectancy is much less than in America with malaria, typhoid fever, cholera and many other diseases commonplace.  And at least one school boy’s father was martyred while ministering to drug users.

The children of Pakistan are exceedingly poor and largely uneducated.  The government reports a literacy rate of approximately 35% for the nation and reliable resources estimate the Christian population literacy rate at 10%Christians are second class citizens and too poor to go to private schools.  Public and private schools are notoriously corrupt and the quality of government education is exceedingly bad.  Further the government schools are administered and taught by Muslims and Christian children often are required to recant their faith if they desire to be educated.

Shiloh has become a great encouragement to our persecuted brothers and sisters.  Orphans have come from as far north as Rawalpindi (near Islamabad) and as far south as Khaneval district.  “Blessed is he who considers the poor; the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.  The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to his enemies.” Psalm 41:1-2

In addition to educating and bringing Jesus to the little ones, Faith Harvest has also brought clean water to Pakistan.  In April of 2002, two McGuire water purifiers were installed – 1 in Shiloh and another in a southern Punjab province village.  Approximately 85% of the water in Pakistan is not fit for human consumption according to the government.  The World Health Organization (“WHO”) reports that contaminated water accounts for 80% of all diseases in the developing world and claims 5 million children per year.  That means that a child is dying of water born disease every 6 secondsPraise Jesus that the first purifier of its type in Pakistan (capable of purifying water for the entire village) was installed at Shiloh.

The writer of Hebrews reminds us to, “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them – those who are mistreated – since you yourselves are in the body also.” Hebrews 13:3

Please Pray:

Safety for the children and brothers and sisters in Pakistan who live in very difficult circumstances.

*       A deep sense of love and security for the little ones.

*      That our persecuted brother and sisters remain faithful and will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.

*      For financial needs to be met.  In addition to the ongoing operational expenses (teachers salaries,

food, clothing, etc.) we have plans for additional schools and orphanages.

*       Obedience, faithfulness, health and rest for pastor James.

*      That Jesus would be glorified in everything said and done at Shiloh and that the Gospel would spread quickly throughout Pakistan.
