MEETINGS
SDCTUA meets on the second Wednesday of every other month at 7:00 PM to discuss the business of the organization and other matters. Meetings are held in the Clubhouse of the Balboa Tennis Club (BTC) in Morley Field, Balboa Park, San Diego. See below for directions.
The "business" of the
association includes announcements, approval of the minutes from the
previous meeting, the Treasurer's report, new and old business,
membership activity, and reports from Adult, Junior and Collegiate
Assignment Coordinators, including reports on upcoming and completed
tournaments, and reports from committees including Rules, Training, and
Membership. Availability sign-up sheets and a current roster are also
circulated at these meetings where members indicate availability to
work. By attending these meetings members get access to work
assignments coordinated by the Association and are kept abreast of the
business of the association and what's going on in the San Diego tennis
community, as well as national officiating news and the national and
international tennis world. Training or social events may also be
scheduled for meeting night. Training activity usually begins an hour
before the regularly scheduled meeting and is announced in advance.
Meetings also offer a chance for officials, working, retired or on
leave, to meet one another and enjoy the camaraderie of others who share
their chosen avocation.
Minutes from the business meeting are recorded by the secretary and published as the SDCTUA Newsline, the newsletter of San Diego County Tennis Umpires Association. The Newsline, in addition to meeting minutes, contains the date, time and location of the next meeting, a record of previous meeting attendance, upcoming events and availabilities, and any other business that may have come up since the last business meeting. The Newsline is published in advance of each meeting and thus serves as a meeting announcement. The Newsline is distributed to member in the format they choose, print or email. Email is the preferred format.
