The Inanimates
These next Ozzians shouldn't even be alive, by any means. But alive they are, and they're a very important part of Oz. Most of these are background characters, but we need to know how to draw them, still. :p
The Scarecrow
The Scarecrow was discovered by Dorothy on her first visit to Oz. At one time, he ruled after the Wizard left, until he was ousted by General Jinjur, who was then replaced by Ozma. He is the most popular man in the whole country, and is considered by many to be the smartest. Obviously, he is made of straw and is quite flimsy. He lives in a giant mansion made of gold shaped like an ear of corn. He's a background character in my book.
Scraps: The Patchwork Girl
Scraps is an oddity, to be sure. She was made from a crazy quilt by a Munchin magician, and through a turn of events, she was given a rather odd assortment of brains. Most numerous is the Posey part of her brain, as she's apt to suddenly burst out into song, or do cartwheels down the hall. She lives in the palace, and is possibley in love with the Scarecrow. She spouts a bit of poetry in my book, and if you're doing the Emerald City, chances are you'll be drawing her.
Tik-Tok
Tik-Tok is a very round clockwork man made out of brass. He must be wound up to keep his thinking, talking, and motion clockworks running at all times. He is a background character in my book.
The Tin Woodsman
The Tin Woodsman, or Nick Chopper, is the ruler of the Winkies. He lives in a tin castle to the west of the Emerald City. He's very kind, because of the silken heart which the Wizard gave to him, and won't even hurt a butterfly. Wildcats are another matter.;) I don't think that he will be in my book, but he may show up at the end, so here he is in all his glory. :p
