October TRL! Continued...

October 25, 1999 Monday
10. "Astonishing Panorama of the Endtimes" by Marilyn Manson
9. "Waiting for Tonight" by Jennifer Lopez
8. "Mambo #5" by Lou Bega
7. "Cowboy" by Kid Rock
6. "Heartbreaker" by Mariah Carey - DaBrat is wearing a fur coat. That’s questionable and inappropriate.
5. "All the Small Things" by Blink 182 - Chris and Joey are a little upset that they aren’t in the video. And then Joey thanks Blink for the respect. Somehow I don’t think that that was why ‘N Sync wasn’t parodied…
4. "(You Drive Me) Crazy" by Britney Spears - Joey’s a big time fan of hers. Even has a shirt.
3. "Music of My Heart" by ‘N Sync and Gloria Estefan - I am still laughing out loud hysterically at the position of this video. And at this: while they are complaining considerably, Dave announces that "three is perfectly acceptable; quit your bitchin’." That’s classic right there.
2. "N 2 Gether Now" by Limp Bizkit and Method Man - Joey and Chris equate "N 2 Gether Now" and ‘N Sync. Somehow I think that they’re a little different.
1. "Larger Than Life" by Backstreet Boys - In his bitterness, Joey says, after asked how many days BSB has been at the top, "too many."
Notes:
- Chris and Joey from ‘N Sync guest host. Okay, I know everybody has figured out how I feel about them, so I’ll just limit myself to commenting about stuff everybody should have noticed. *They are wearing pajamas. *At the beginning they sing along with the Backstreet Boys. *Chris actually looks semi-good without his dreds. I can’t believe I just thought that… But, as my brother says, "he still has that weirdo high voice."
- Marilyn Manson debuts
- Exclusive Family Values tour footage
- World premiere Rage Against the Machine video. The Gap reference "Everybody in Denial" is clever.

October 26, 1999 Tuesday
Due to the unbelievable results of today’s countdown, today you will be spared my wonderful commentary. I am so distraught. Especially because people can appear on TRL and inspire people to enthusiastically vote the next day, despite the fact that they might have acted dumbly. I mean seriously.
10. "Satisfy You" by Puff Daddy
9. "Unpretty" by TLC
8. "Mambo #5" by Lou Bega
7. "Cowboy" by Kid Rock
6. "Heartbreaker" by Mariah Carey
5. "All the Small Things" by Blink 182
4. "(You Drive Me) Crazy" by Britney Spears
3. "Rearranged" by Limp Bizkit
2. "Larger Than Life" by Backstreet Boys
1. "Music of My Heart" by 'N Sync and Gloria Estefan
Notes:
- Carson is back!
- Sugar Ray visits
- Bush visits

October 27, 1999 Wednesday
10. "Role Model" by Eminem - Interesting… Especially for a Catholic school girl.
9. "Guerilla Radio" by Rage Against the Machine - As I said before, the "Everybody in Denial" is so clever!
8. "Mambo #5" by Lou Bega
7. "Cowboy" by Kid Rock
6. "Heartbreaker" by Mariah Carey - I’m still pondering the relevancy of the Car Wash.
5. "All the Small Things" by Blink 182 - Concert is less than one week away!
4. "(You Drive Me) Crazy" by Britney Spears - This girl really is a good dancer. My goodness.
3. "N 2 Gether Now" by Limp Bizkit and Method Man - It’s too bad that the tunnel shot has been long overdone.
2. "Music of My Heart" by 'N Sync and Gloria Estefan - I think Carson says it best: "After tasting the fruits of the #1 spot for one very short day, they have fallen back to the runner-up spot."
1. "Larger Than Life" by Backstreet Boys - "Who can’t live a day without being number one."
Notes:
- Rage Against the Machine debuts
- Announced: Kid Rock’s 61st day
- Stone Temple Pilots visit
- TRL Premiere Sugar Ray video. Mark plays the guitar! He is so hot! Plus, this song is really good. So much better than "Someday."

October 29, 1999 Friday
10. "Bugaboo" by Destiny’s Child
9. "Shake Your Bon Bon" by Ricky Martin - Bad lyric of the day: "Up in the Himalayas, / I just wanna lay ya"
8. "Mambo #5" by Lou Bega - At the "Lou Spot"?
7. "Heartbreaker" by Mariah Carey - Snoop just sits in the car so oddly. What is that expression on his face?
6. "Cowboy" by Kid Rock - Retired on Tuesday!
5. "All the Small Things" by Blink 182 - Concert is on Tuesday! (Be prepared for backups in my countdown listings…)
4. "(You Drive Me) Crazy" by Britney Spears
3. "N 2 Gether Now" by Limp Bizkit and Method Man
2. "Music of My Heart" by 'N Sync and Gloria Estefan - It’s so obvious that Justin and JC are the only ones who ever get to sing solos…
1. "Larger Than Life" by Backstreet Boys - … at least BSB only persecute Kevin, not three of them.
Notes:
- Ananda guest hosts. This is a great preview of what she might be like everyday on TRL. I you liked it, see the TRL Host Poll.
- Destiny’s Child debuts
- TRL Wannabes: Jessica Simpson "I Wanna Love You Forever"; Sugar Ray "Falls Apart" Vote for this one!; Will Smith "Will 2K" If he hadn’t lamely taken advantage of the whole overdone millennium thing, maybe people would vote for this one
- Update: Yesterday, I was a little harsh on the absent Carson, but I realized that he was away watching The WB Radio Music Awards. He gave a little introduction to Garth Brooks, of all people.

October 28, 1999 Thursday
10. "Waiting for Tonight" by Jennifer Lopez
9. "Guerrilla Radio" by Rage Against the Machine
8. "Mambo #5" by Lou Bega
7. "Heartbreaker" by Mariah Carey - Jay-Z’s rap is so much better than DaBrat’s. I wonder how he feels about this remix.
6. "All the Small Things" by Blink 182 - Ohmigosh! They’ve fallen from the Blink Spot! But at least its for Kid Rock…
5. "Cowboy" by Kid Rock - …with only a couple days left, he deserves to go up. Looks like he beat Mariah too.
4. "(You Drive Me) Crazy" by Britney Spears
3. "N 2 Gether Now" by Limp Bizkit and Method Man - The rather unjust way TRL is handling two Limp videos is also always interesting. It’s cool to see which video will be voted in on any given day. Brings excitement to the same old top three.
2. "Music of My Heart" by ‘N Sync and Gloria Estefan
1. "Larger Than Life" by Backstreet Boys - Dave Holmes’ favorite part: when Kevin is hitting the buttons. It is cute.
Notes:
- Dave Holmes guest hosts. Aaaah, Carson, where are you? And I hear Ananda is hosting tomorrow too. I completely understand random days off, but there have been many lately.
- Thought of the day: In general, I’ve noticed that really common and trite requests are getting played. As opposed to those that are creative and actually somehow different than the hundreds of others that say something to the effect of, "…cause this video rocks/is awesome," "…cause they’re/he is/she is so cute/hot," or "…cause they’re the best/coolest band ever!" For whatever reason, these are the ones getting played. WTF?
