Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God

Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God!

PROPHECY 1679

Almost twenty centuries ago there was a man born contrary to the laws of life. His death was contrary to the laws of death. He lived in poverty. He possessed neither wealth or social prestige. In infancy He startled a king; in childhood He puzzled doctors; in manhood He ruled the course of nature, walked upon the billows as pavements, and hushed the sea to sleep. He had no cornfields or fisheries, but he could spread a table for five thousand and have bread and fish to spare. He healed the multitudes without medicine and made no charge for His service. He never wrote a book, yet all the libraries of the country could not hold all the books that have been written about Him. He never wrote a song, yet He has furnished the theme for more songs than all songwriters combined. He never founded a college, but all the schools together cannot boast of having as many students. He never marshaled an army, nor drafted a soldier, nor fired a gun; and yet no leader ever had more volunteers who have, under His orders, made more rebels stack arms and surrender without a shot fired. He never practiced psychiatry, yet He has healed more broken hearts than all the doctors far and near. When He died few men mourned. But a black crepe was hung over the sun. Though men trembled not for their sins, the earth beneath them shook under the load. All nature honored Him. Corruption could not get hold of His body. The soil that had been reddened with His blood could not claim His dust. Death could not bind Him. The tomb could not hold Him. Behold what manner of man is this!

Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness!

"Religion is not merely a belief in some supreme Power, nor do I consider it to be the establishment of relations of any kind between this supreme Power and ourselves. It is an inner identification with it and the creation of a new life through it... The union of the Divine and human nature is the fundamental truth of religion, and its deepest mystery consists in the fact that the Divine enters the compass of the Human without impairing its Divinity. With this new phase life is completely renewed and elevated. Man becomes immediately conscious of the infinite and eternal, of that within him which transcends the world. For the first time the love of God becomes the ruling motive of his life, and brings him into an inner relation with the whole scope of reality... It is here that we find a new self, our true spiritual self."

- Rudolph Eucken

"This Too Shall Pass"

If I can endure for this minute
Whatever is happening to me,
No matter how heavy my heart is
Or how dark the moment may be-

If I can remain calm and quiet
With all the world crashing about me,
Secure in the knowledge God loves me
When everyone else seems to doubt me-

If I can but keep on believing
What I know in my heart to be true,
That darkness will fade with the morning
And that this will pass away, too-

Then nothing in life can defeat me
For as long as this knowledge remains
I can suffer whatever is happening
For I know God will break all of the chains

That are binding me tight in the darkness
And trying to fill me with fear-
For there is no night without dawning
And I know that my morning is near.

"Success is the unintended side effect resulting from the pursuit of something larger than yourself"
-Jack W. Thurston

"I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness." - Psalm 17:15

"An insight into the absolute unity of the human existence with the Divine is certainly the profoundest knowledge that man can obtain..." - Fichte

[AMAZING GRACE!]

"Thought is a force, and its invariable law is that like creates like, and that the life always and invariably follows the thought. As we think we become, and the glory of life is that it is given to each to be the master of his thought." - Ralph Waldo Trine

"Jesus looked at Reality through the lens of the divine imagination. By means of that fact troubles vanished around Him, obstacles fell away, the lost became found, the sick became well, sinners became redeemed, and rough places became smoothe."

- Glenn Clark "The Soul's Sincere Desire"

"The imagination is the power we all possess of seeing harmonies, unities and beauties in things where non-imaginative mind sees nothing but discords, separations, ugliness......To look at life imaginatively, then, to see everything about us as a great parable full of deep inner meanings - meanings of love, joy, wholeness, symetry, and perfection - is to see life truthfully, that is to say spiritually. It brings us into a condition of continuous prayer, a condition of cosmic consciousness, which is conducive, above all else, to bringing in to our life those larger harmonies and unities that to our physical eyes appear to be miracles."
- Ibid

One day
at a time -
this is enough.
Do not look back
and grieve over
the past,
for it is gone;
and do not be troubled
about the future,
for it has not yet come.
Live in the present
and make it so beautiful
that it will be worth
remembering.

- Ida Scott Taylor

"There is one point, however, on which philosopers in every age agree: True happiness stems from a quality within ourselves, from a way of thinking of life. Of all the millions of words written on happiness, this is the oldest and most enduring truth. If the principles of contentment are not within us, no material success, no pleasures or possessions, can make us happy."

- Lillian Eichler Watson "Light From Many Lamps"

"Right desire is the deepest form of prayer"-Unknown

"Intensify your thought and you set up attraction. Concentrate on a job, and you attract all the things necessary to accomplish it. You attract the things you give a great deal of thought to."

- Henry Ford

"Thoughts are materials" - Ibid

"The key to every man is his thought" - Emerson

"Much is said to young men today about success in life, - success generally though, as the world calls success. It is well, however, always to bear in mind the fact that there is a success which is a miserable, a deplorable failure; while on the other hand, there is a failure which is a grand, a noble, a God-like success. And one crying need of the age is that young men be taught the true dignity, nobility, and power of such a failure,- such a failure in the eyes of the world today, but such a success in the eyes of God and the coming ages. When this is done, there will be among us more prophets, more saviors, more men of grand and noble stature, who with a firm and steady hand will hold the lighted torch of true advancement high up among the people; and they will be those who will speak and move with authority, true sons of God, true brothers of men. A man may make his millions and his life be a failure still.

- Ralph Waldo Trine "What All the World's A-Seeking"

"ASK GOD"

I asked God to take away my pain.
God said, No. It is not for me to take
away, but for you to give up.

I asked God to make my
handicapped child whole.
God said, No. Her spirit is whole
and her body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, No. Patience is a
by-product of tribulations;
it isn't granted, it is earned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
God said, No. I give you blessings.
Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No. Suffering draws you
apart from worldly cares and brings
you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No. You must grow on
your own, but I will prune you to
make you fruitful.

I asked for all things that I
might enjoy life.
God said, No. I will give you life so
that you might enjoy all things.

I asked God to help me LOVE others,
as much as He loves me.
God said...Ahhhh,
finally you have the idea.

"Revival" by Robin Mark

The Hebrew name of God; the Tetragrammaton (YHVH) means: "He is Present"

"Mind is the Master-power that moulds and makes,
And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes
The tool of Thought, and, shaping what he wills,
Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills:-
He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass:
Environment is but his looking glass."

- James Allen

"We are so rarely in the present. Within a period of five minutes we are remembering one thing, anticipating something else, unable to focus on the only time that is ours to affect. In moments of intense exertion, physical or emotional, we are forced into the present. Part of the "high" that comes with long distance running is that there comes a point when all we can think about is the next step. There is also a "high" that comes with an emergency because we cannot think beyond what must immediately be done. But why when we are not pushed to our limits, can't our mind simply rest in the present? The present is not boring or routine. It is basically unknown and recovered only with a haze of nastalgia. When we stop skimming the surface and allow ourselves to be fully submerged in the present, we discover depths of beauty and meaning. THE PRESENT IS THE ONLY PLACE WHERE WE CAN FIND GOD."

- Carol Ochs "The Presence in the Desert"

"Time is able to determine what we do, feel and think. When time becomes an expression of what we think is important, then time is our own and we are free. When our time is spent in ways unrelated to our values, then we are in bondage." - Ibid.

"Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence."
- Aristotle

"Very little is needed to make a happy life. It is all within yourself, in your way of thinking."
- Marcus Aurelius - "Meditations"

"If you want to know about Heaven and what Heaven is, you do not need to cast your thoughts many thousands of miles off, for that place, that heaven thousands of miles away, is not your Heaven. The true Heaven is not a created place but an uncreated place, and it is not found in a particular place but everywhere, even in the very place where you are standing and going. For when your Spirit within yourslf is able to penetrate inward through and beyond your own flesh and life, and is able to catch hold upon the innermost moving of God, then you are clearly in Heaven."

- Jacob Boehme 17th Century

"To awaken each morning with a smile brightening my face; to greet the day with reverence for the opportunities it contains; to aproach my work with a clean mind; to hold ever before me, even in the doing of little things, the Ultimate Purpose toward which I am working; to meet men and women with laughter on my lips and love in my heart, to be gentle, kind and courteous through all the hours; to approach the night with weariness that ever woos sleep and the joy that comes from work well done - this is how I desire to waste wisely my days." -Thomas Dekker

"If thou wilt make a happy man, add not unto his riches but take away from his desires." - Epicurus

"True happiness is to understand our duties toward God and man; to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future; not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is abundantly sufficient; for he that is so wants nothing. The great blessings of mankind are within us, and within our reach; but we shut our eyes and, like people in the dark, fall foul of the very thing we search for without finding it. Tranquility is a certain quality of mind which no condition of fortune can either exalt or depress."

"There must be sound mind to make a happy man; there must be constancy in all conditions, a care of the things of this world but without anxiety; and such an indifference to the bounties of fortune that either with them or without them we may live content. True joy is serene... The seat of it is within, and there is no cheerfulness like the resolution of a brave mind that has fortune under its feet. It is an invincible greatness of mind not to be elevated or dejected with good or ill fortune. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it be - without wishing for what he has not."

- Lucius Annaeus Seneca

"The selfish man suffers more from his selfishness than he from whom that selfishness withholds some important benefit." - Emerson

"Every outward trial is the replica of an inward imperfection.
- James Allen "The Heavenly Life"

"How we deal with adversity and challenges will shape our lives more than almost anything else."

"Within yourself lies the cause of whatever enters into your life. To come into the full realization of your own awakened interior powers is to be able to condition your life in exact accord with what you would have it."
- Ralph Waldo Trine "In Tune With The Infinite"

"The Cry of the Dreamer"

I am tired of planning and toiling
In the crowded lives of man;
Heart weary of building and spoiling;
And spoiling and building again.
And I long for the dear old river,
Where I dreamed my youth away;
For a dreamer lives forever,
And a toiler dies in a day.

I am sick of the showy seeming
Of a life that is half a lie;
Of the faces lined with scheming
In the throng that hurries by.
From the sleepless thoughts endeavor
I would go where the children play;
For a dreamer lives forever
And a toiler dies in a day.

I can feel no pride but pity
For the burdens the rich endure;
There is nothing sweet in the city
But the patient lives of the poor.
Oh! the little hands too skillful,
And the child mind choked with weeds!
The daughters heart grown wilful,
And the father's heart that bleeds!

No, no! From the street's rude bustle,
From trophies of mart and stage,
I would fly to the woods low rustle
And the meadows kindly page.
Let me dream as of old by the river,
And be loved for the dream alway,
For a dreamer lives forever,
And a toiler dies in a day.

- John Boyle O'Reilly

"O be strong then, and brave,
