We got Miriam to be a friend for Singer because she hated to be left alone. We didn't know it at the time, but Miriam was pregnant. She had 11 puppies!

We think Miriam is part Huskey and part Doberman. Miriam also turned out to be part antelope (she jumps over 6 foot fences with ease) and part gopher (she digs under and through wooden fences!)

Puncta is a leopard tortoise, a wedding present from our friend Dot, so the Greek word Puncta, meaning "spot" has a double important meaning for us!

Puncta wa tomodachi no Dot ni moratta kekkon no okurimono desu. Puncta wa hyou no kame da kara ten ga takusan arimasu. "Puncta" no imi mo "Dot" no imi mo "ten" desu. "Puncta" wa fusawashii namae desu ne?

Puncta does fine here in the desert because that's her normal environment. We keep her outside all summer and bring her in at night in the winter. She eats a lot of grass, but she enjoys the extra vegetables we give her too.

Weevil was found at Carrie's work place, behind the cotton lab, hence his name. He proved too playful for our older 2 cats, and we had to think about finding him a playmate...
