Yvonne Gallego
Over 37 years of coaching experience
A participating member of US Fencing Association (USFA), Arizona Division, our equipment is checked to USFA safety standards.
Arizona Fencing Academy is an active member of the Arizona Division, Rocky Mountain Section of the USFA. Tournaments are offered at the fencing school, or salle, and around Arizona, and students often travel with Coach Gallego to regional tournaments in Nevada or California, and national tournaments, for example the Junior Olympics, which in 2004 were held in Cleveland, Ohio. Check out the tournament calendar.
Under USFA rules, tournaments may be age or rank restricted, separated or mixed mens and women's, by weapon type, individual or team, or registration can be more open, or by invitation.
USFA-Compliant Tournament fencing is the means by which fencers gain a classification, or ranking in their weapon and age class. Membership in USFA is optional for students at AFA, but is required for tournament participation.
Students receive private lessons, regardless of competition orientation, by appointment with the Coach, during class hours.
