Joe's shy thaaaannnngg pose

What can I tell you about the band?

The Sean Olsens. started out some time ago when Dave, Wan , Rizal and our ex-vocalist Kelvin started jamming around for fun. Then one November night in what seems like eons ago...we went for the Fugazi show in KL, and were blown away by their live energy. Needless to say, we stopped thrashing around and tried to be more serious. And I think we've have managed to do that. The progress of the band so far has been dramatic to say the least.

Though we're not setting any records, we feel proud that we have done what we have been able to do. Though we went through a rough patch after kicking Kelvin out of the band because he was such a prima donna and a royal pain in the ass, we looked long and hard for a replacement. Though erasing Kelvin from our line-up was liberating, it really left us in the lurch until one day we met Sam, who was my ex-collegue, (we worked at Intencity before he quit after three days) and an acquaintance of the rest of the guys. Talking about mIRC , Pearl Jam and the Smashing Pumpkins, we decided with additional info that he used to jam with Rizal and Wan's elder brothers, that he be admitted into the Sean Olsens

Now that Sam's with us, and our musical direction is finally going somewhere, I think it's safe to say that the band is gonna be around....and not just there....but happening.

What can I tell you bout myself?

JOE UNCOVERED *euughhh*

I'm going 23 this July 17...I love the Smashing Pumpkins , and anything and everything else....and I'm the second eldest in the band....I've known the rest of the band for several years...we hang out together, do shit together, get stoned together....we all used to club together...even though I'd have to say they weren't exactly up to speed like a self-proclaimed club kid (namely moi)...

Salutations to the ex Boom Boom Room in Jalan Ampang for the good old days and a big hey to the current club at the fore of real dance music and not cheap VSP remixed techno...the one and only...Liquid. A big hey to the people behind Saturday Sensual and other members of the KL rave scene...note: CC to all the real dance clubs in KL...

After school, I took the Diploma of Sound and Audio Engineering at The Ocean Institue of Audio Technology, . Needless to say, I copped out two subjects short of graduating. Now I'm working as a journalist at The Sun. And I've had the pleasure to lie for a living (hurhurhur). I jugge my days and nights between working, sleeping (alone or with someone else), and clubbing. I don't bother to do much between and I like me that way. My major accomplishment I think with the band so far has been in several areas.
1. I managed to get them to like dance music..the works...to the point, they are now very much into the events surrounding the dance culture (cue for SuLin to turn cartwheels for gaining another batch of 'converts.') In fact we just might work it into our sound...
and...2. I managed to get them together as a family...we're all brothers (and sisters I hear?) and we stick together. Oh yeah sure, we bitch about each other....but we live through it and back each other up at the end of the day...

Bottomline is...at the end of the day...the Sean Olsens. are not just another band...The music we play is a reflection of our experiences...good or bad...It's also a doorway for us to gain access to our inner selves for us to intensify our search for the true person in each of us.....crap??...I think not... To top it all...the Olsens. are here to stay...like it or not. We don't care being branded posers or wannabes. We're not into being accepted...but we'd appreciate being understood. Besides, if we make it big, we're gonna have a T shirt that reads..."SEAN OLSENS-WE SOLD OUT...but then again, so did our records!!!"...heheheheh...

Oh yeah...and to dispel rumours...the Sean Olsens are not a gay band...we are a merry lot...but a big naye to thee...yet that answer does not reflect the collective sexuality of the band...though we are about as differing in all sense among us five as our races...well, the rumour is denied and yet ...there may be a slight ounce of truth individually...but need it matter? So all there be left to say and you may quote...is...

"Pass the crayons, boy......"
