" Nickolas Gene Carter, get your butt down here right this instance, or we're gonna be late, " I screamed up the stairs of my apartment.
My roommate Megan found this funny, and couldn't help but laugh. "What are you laughing about?" I asked giving her an evil eye. "Nothing," she said under her breath and turned back to her television show.
" NIIIIIII, oops sorry Nick," I said as realized Nick was standing right by my side.
" What, I can't hear you," he sarcastically replied.
"Oh, poor baby, now stop whining and lets go… now! "
" Hmph, Not until I get a decent kiss from my girlfriend."
"Fine, here," I said giving him a really, really quick kiss, and pulled him by the arm, but he didn't budge. "Niiiiiiiccccckkkkkk, We are going to be late!" I pleaded with him.
We were meeting the Carters' and the other guys for dinner, and as if it wasn't obvious I didn't want to be late!
" We are not leaving this house until I get a kiss."
" Then what was that ?"
" That was a "I really wanna leave and your bugging me" kiss."
I heard snickering coming from the other side of the couch and saw Megan practically rolling on the ground laughing.
"Argh," I sighed and pulled him close and gave him a REAL kiss. "There, if you don't call that a kiss, I don't know what is now come on!" I replied getting really annoyed.
"Yeah, we better hurry, or we're gonna be late because of SOMEBODY!" Nick said with a slight smile.
"You better watch it Mister, or you wont be get one of those kisses in a LONG time!" I new that would do the trick, before I new it I was being dragged to the car.
"What" he asked as he saw me giggling!
"Nothing, absolutely nothing," I replied. Before he could protest we pulled into his driveway.
Nick walked in the door pulling me close behind. "Mooooom, I'm home", Nick screamed out to what seemed like an empty house. Before Nick could holler again, Aaron came running in and gave his brother a hug."Hey, buddy where's mom?" Nick questioned.
"Umm…." Aaron thought aloud. As if right on cue in from the kitchen walked Mrs. Carter wiping her hands on her apron.
"Hi Mrs. Carter," I said embracing her for a hug.
"Hi Mandy, How have you been."
"Oh, okay except, we were almost late cause of somebody… I replied looking at Nick.
"Hey, It wasn't my fault you wouldn't kiss me," he argued. All Mrs. Carter could do was laugh. "When are the guys gonna…, " Nick was interrupted by the doorbell. "Nevermind," he said with a sarcastic tone.
"I'll get it," Aaron offered. He opened the door and in walked four VERY hungry guys, almost trampling Aaron. After saying our hellos we all gathered around the food Mrs. Carter prepared.
About half way through the meal, all was well until Aaron decided to break the peaceful, yet awkward silence. "Sooo, Nick, Are you and Mandy gonna get married?" I dropped my fork and almost choked on my food. I glanced up at Nick who was sitting beside me with a huge grin on his face. I put on a fake smile, to try to hide my embarrassment, but I new everyone could see right passed it.
Sure Nick and I had been dating for eight months now, and I did even tour with him and the Backstreet boys. But never did I ever think about getting married. I interrupted my thoughts as I waited for Nick to answer, along with Mr. and Mrs. Carter. Nick's younger sisters giggled between themselves and looked at Nick.
All eyes were on Nick and I. Nick reached under the table and gave my knee a quick reassuring squeeze, trying not to sound obvious that he thought that getting married was a definite possibility. "Well, Aaron, ummm… see, ummm…,"Nick stuttered.
I sat at the table looking at my plate, and drawing designs in my mashed potatoes, as I felt the heat in my cheeks. I suddenly felt I had to do something about the tension in the room so I spoke up. "Aaron, I think what your brother is trying to say is that we're both very much and love and…." I thought for a moment . " Well, I guess at some point we may get married." I said glancing up to see Nick's reaction. Sure enough the grin on his face never faded, but only got bigger. I quickly went back to playing with my food when I heard Nick mumble:
"Oh, yeah, its definitely a possibility," a little to loudly under his breath. That subject was soon dropped as everyone finished their dinner.
