It was a cold, dark night and even the moon light didn't got through the thick clouds. A mysterious person walks around in the forest and he is dressed totally in black. Black coat, black shoes, black glasses, black hat and black gloves. What is he doeing in the forest at this hour. Maybe we will never know. Suddenly the person hears a high pitch scream, confused by the sound he looks around, but it was to late the person..... You story starts here. - By mastah_jc.
"Gone? How could you lose him?"
"I'm sorry sire, I know not how to explain this."
"I do." The king replied in anger. "He's a sorcerer."
"Please sire." The young scout scoffed at the very idea.
"Sorcerers are nothing but myths. He was dressed entirely in black and it was
dark. I must have mistaken him for a shadow. It was entirely my fault."
"I thought you couldn't explain it." The King reminded the
scout a slight crook of a smile bending half his face. Evil shone through that
look, a madness of sorts and the scout quivered in fear.
"You will return to that same place tonight. You will wait,
you will see, and you will follow this man once more. If a shadow he appears to
be, then it is every shadow you will search. If you return once more without
him in custody you will take his place in my dungeon."
"U..understood sire." The scout bowed low and ran for his
life from the throne room.
"Barack." The King summoned a dark man from the shadows. "I
want you to make sure that he doesn't catch you tonight."
"Of course your majesty."
"Barack, he has already spotted you three times. He has
already managed to follow you twice. Don't slip up."
The man bowed low and reentered the shadows as the King's
next victim came walking in.
This night the moon shone full and clear, revealing the
entirety of the road before the scout. He hid deep in the darkest recesses of
one of the alleys and waited. Though the man was never seen in the same place
twice, there was a pattern to his movements. And this showed to be his next
likely target. Though he never stole, harmed, or threatened anyone or anything
it was obvious this man was searching for something. And whatever that was, the
King was especially interested, the King knew.
Within minutes of sixth night hour call, a shadow appeared on
the road. A shadow without a shadow, no counterpart that could be seen simply a
black mass blocking the wondrous light of the moon. The scout looked up to see
if the source could be found above, but to no avail. Readjusting his eyes to
the road he discovered the shadow replaced by the same dark man he had tracked
for over a week.
"Who are you?" the scout whispered to himself as he slowly
crept from his hiding place.
The man moved swiftly and with extreme purpose. He must have
found what he was looking for. Tonight he would act, tonight he would be
caught.
A few blocks down the road the man stopped quickly and
turned. The road was as empty as always. He stood before a simple modest shop,
with a small sign above the door that read “Town Historian.” Slowly and silently
he approached the door in front of him. With a few swift movements the door was
unlocked and gently pushed open.
The main room was fairly small, with ten or twenty shelves
lining the walls each filled to the max with ancient scrolls and books. The man
ignored these and continued to a back room. Again he moved, and again the door
was easily unlatched. The door was opened, the door was closed but not one but
two men entered that room that night. Darkness prevailed in that room, there
were no shelves, no safes, no tables or chairs. Nothing hidden or locked away
from ordinary eyes. The room was empty save for strange marking etched into the
walls. The screams heard that night were described as inhuman, the fear that
pervaded the town was stifling. That night a town was destroyed, a scout was
lost, a shadow was slain. And King became happy.
