Creating Links and Anchors in your Web

Link to other Web pages of your own or to other specific locations. Also, link to email addresses.

#1 Create a Second Page

Choose Document Options from the Edit menu.

Choose Basic from the pop-up menu or click the Basic tab.

Enter the title in the Document Title text box (this page will include student work or projects).

Click on ok.

Choose Save from the File menu.

In the dialog box, type the title of the page.

Click on ok.

You are now asked for a file name (call this page projects.htm) in the Save File As text box.

Open your folder.

Click on Save.

#2 Re-open Your Index Page and Make a Link to Your New Page

Under File click Open and choose index.htm.

Make a list of places to link (include what ever title you will give your student project page, your email and a link to TECH TREK.

Select the text of your first link by highlighting the words to be linked (your second page).

Choose Link to File from the Insert menu.

Choose projects.htm.

Click on Open.

    Note: Don't forget to link your new page back to your index page in the same manner!

#3 Link to a Specific Location

Copy the address from the top of this web page by highlighting it and pulling down Edit to Copy or use (control/C).

Highlight Tech Trek on your screen.

Choose Link to URL from the Insert menu.

Click in the URL text box with your mouse, then pull down edit to paste /or use control and the letter V(control/v) at the same time.

    Note: Control/C will copy almost anything highlighted on a PC document and Control/V will paste almost anything on a PC document.

  1. Close this box.

#4 Link to a Email Address

Type in your name and email address.

Highlight your name and address.

Choose Address from the format menu.

Choose Link to URL.

In the URL Text box type mail to:your email address goes here (For example, mail to:yoke@granbury.com 

Close the box.

Save your work.
