Time to Fess Up
-Kana-
This had to stop. Leo wasn’t going to do it. I had to step in and stop this.
Kagome and I sat in the living room. She stared at me. Leo’s mad at me. Leo’s
mad at me.
“What’s going on?” Kagome asked. “What is the
problem?” I
thought about what I wanted to say. Leo was about to speak when I stopped him.
Stop. This has gone on long enough!
He still tried to talk. Kagome waited the whole time. I took a breath.
“Leo has so much going on,” I began with.
“Okay…” Kagome said. I pressed my lips together. She has to know. Someone has to
know. I lifted my chin.
“His family…” I said.
Shut up.
No!
“Kana?” Kagome asked. I gritted my teeth and lifted my head.
“His father is back,” I said.
“What?” she asked. Leo gritted his teeth. I dropped my head.
“How much time do you have?” I asked.
“I’m willing to listen,” Kagome said. I lifted my head and sighed. Okay. Here
goes. I just let it unload. I couldn’t stop. Leo couldn’t stop me either. Oh he
tried. But I kept him quiet. I dropped my shoulders, panting. I looked up at
Kagome. She sat silent. Come on. Say something!
“Wow,” was all she said. I saw Leo glaring at me.
Why did you tell her all of that?
I started to answer but I closed my mouth. I frowned. I didn’t know. I didn’t
know why I did that. I guess…
“Are you okay?”
I lifted my head. Kagome stared at us. Might as well tell the truth.
“No,” I confessed. “We are not okay.” Leo sat back in my head. Kagome stared at
us. I could tell what she was thinking. I sighed.
“Look,” I said. “I thought I knew why I was telling you this, but now I don’t.”
I rubbed my forehead.
“So what do you want?” Kagome asked. I put up my hands in a shrug. Leo snorted
and folded his arms across his chest.
Nice one. It wasn’t her business. What did you think
was going to happen? I closed my eyes. He might
be right. But still, I had to say something.
I opened my eyes.
“What I want to say is please help me,” I said in a trembling voice.
