| Introduction: Springfield Central high School is located in the Western part of the state of Massachusetts. It has been a state-of-the-art, 9-12 high school since 1986. With 1700 stdents, central provides a quality education that allows graduates to acquire the skills necessary to enjoy a successful and profitable future. With its wide range of extracurricular activities it allows for opportnities to explore special interests and talents, such as art. As principal Celeste Budd-Jackson says, "students who are involved beyond academic classes are generally more successful." |

[Artist of the Moment | Yesenia Camareno] |
| Yesenia Camereno is a senior at Central High School. She has taken art courses since day one, and just completed the Studio Art AP course her junior year. She has been a member of the National Art Honor Society since freshman year and has been selected to be president this year. Yesenia has won several awards such as the Scholastic Art Award, and was also selected to attent Art All-State. She is enrolled in an art course outside of school called the Art Instruction Schools. Yesenia's favorite media are paint and color pencil. Aside from art she enjoys poetry, and often combines the two. She hopes to attend the University of Massachusetts, and to become a veterinarian. Yesenia also plans on continuing her art education at UMASS. | |
