I've been in business for about 3 years, and I enjoy showing this art to people all over the world, via this web site.
All the art shown here is by artists living in Mexico who make all or at least a big part of their living by creating and selling this art.
It takes a long time to make each piece, and they make relatively little money for their hours and hours of work, by our standards. For them, it is a way to survive without working in the coal mines which are encroaching up on their land and stealing away their children to modern culture. For these people their art is an expression of their spirituality, and their lives and their spirituality are one and the same. Their art is an offering to God and an expression of God. They consider themselves guardians of Mother Earth, and their struggle to survive is entwined with Mother Earth's struggle to survive.
When you buy this art you are helping support a Huichol or Tepehuano family, helping them buy food or medicine. Without a market for their art their survival would be even more difficult.
Hope you enjoyed viewing the Huichol and Tepehuano art on my web site, and even if you don't wish to buy anything right now, kindly consider telling a friend about it!
If you would like to see a better picture of a particular piece, or if you are looking for a particular type of piece that you don't see here, please contact me and I'll see if I can find it for you.
Thank you for coming!
-Mike
