Tree of Life
(creation, nourishment)

< Previous----Next>

A Tree of Life, Tree of Knowledge, or a World Tree is a central motif in many creation stories. With its roots reaching deep into the earth, and its branches stretching into the sky, it unites the two worlds of heaven and earth. The tree draws its life from the sun, earth and water, and is a source of life for animals and people alike. Because so many trees loose their leaves in the fall and grow new ones in the spring, the tree is also a symbol of rejuvenation. In the Jewish tradition, the Tree of Life represents the nourishment given by the Torah. Made from glazed red earthenware clay, the back of this limited edition piece displays the artist's signature stamp and the LQP chop mark. Left to right 1 7/8" high, 1 3/8", 1 1/8".
