History: (Leading Comics #1) - The origins of the Dummy were unknown, save that he was an animated wooden puppet. He became a feared crimeboss, and his employees thought he was an ordinary puppet through which their unseen boss spoke. Fellow crimeboss the Hand built up a criminal empire, and became known as the Caesar of Crime. His doctor let him know he was deathly ill, and had less than a month to live, so he decided to go out in a blaze of glory pass on his teachings to a new generation of criminals, including up-and-comer Big Caesar. The Hand orchestrated daring jail breaks for Caesar, the Needle, and Professor Merlin, and tipped off the Dummy that the police were about to raid his hideout. He told them they'd be the Hand's five fingers. He'd planned a once in a lifetime crime for each of them, but warned them they'd be opposed by their arch-enemies, who he'd taunted to top them in the morning's paper. The Hand gave Dummy a plan that involved kidnapping Hollywood stars, replacing them with stone sculptures, and claiming to having used a ray that turned them to stone, demanding a ransom to turn them back to normal. The Hand tipped off Vigilante to the scheme, and the mystery man uncovered the ruse. The Dummy animated himself, and hid behind sculptures of future kidnapping victims. He engaged in a firefight with Vigilante, but the hero shot the sculptures, which toppled on top of his enemy, rendering him helpless.
(All-Star Squadron #53, 54)-Dummy joins the Monster Society of Evil and fights against the All-Star Squadron.
(World's Finest Comics #246-248, Infinity, Inc. #51)-The Dummy has not aged through the years, and he recently murdered Stuff, Vigilante's former boy sidekick. He also organized a group of second-generation supervillains named Injustice, Unlimited. Injustice, Unlimited brought about the demise of Infinity, Inc. by engineering the murder of their leader Skyman.
