-Anyone who has not heard of this incredibly fun and highly entertaining series should go now and check it out for themselves. What was arguably the biggest anime "sleeper-hit" of 1998 was one of the most under appeciated and overlooked anime series of the year. Cowboy Bebop is a show which combines everything from retro-70s style, to slick vintage western; a science fiction comedy of incredibly epic proportions. -From it's visually superb opening sequence and stylish conceptual jazz soundtrack, Cowboy Bebop wastes no time in presenting a totally unique look on the future. From the start, you almost automatically realize the series is something special. At first glance, "Bebop" looks like just another cliche-challenging anime spoof, do not at all be fooled by the show's look. Cowboy Bebop contains a unique style all it's own, one that is so well-executed it makes you wonder why we don't have these kind of cartoon shows in America. -From the start, we witness what is arguably one of the best cast of anime characters ever created. An excellent plot is executed over a visually stunning environment in the world of animation. Cowboy Bebop is both smart, stylish and technically superb. Our story begins with "Spike Spiegel", your typical bounty hunter aboard "Bebop", a space ship with a most unlikely crew consisting of Spike's one-armed partner "Jet Black", a shapely woman named "Fei Valentine", a computer genius named "Edward" and a cunning canine named "Ein". Together they survive many misadventures in space and various planets, often buried in an array of intrigue, government corruption, criminal plots to wipe out the galaxy, gambling, food and yes old friends and pasts left behind. Some serious, some ridiculous; all anime. The premise may be silly, the story off-the-wall at times but the execution is marvelous. -Cowboy Bebop is one of the most realized, entertaining and high quality shows I've ever seen; and is also one of my most favorite animes to date. Both the animation and characters are fantastic, and unlike many series the show never looses it's charm or quality throughout. It has the potential to become one of those rare classics of animation. The characters are some of the most in-depth and interesting I've seen in a long while, each containing their share of personalities, histories and huge role in the story; along with some of the most hilarious 'one-liners' I've ever heard in anime. As we learn more and more about these characters, Cowboy Bebop only gets started from there with it's awesome quality. This is anime at it's finest and should be seen by any fan. An all around gem and masterpiece. As well as our choice for #6. Back To Main Page | |
