"Mom… Can I go see Dad?" Goten said, leaning against the wall as he watched his mother busily dusting the shelves.
"Of course, but be home for dinner." She replied without even stopping in her chores.
"Kay." Goten said just before racing out the front door.
Chi-Chi smiled. The boy really loved his father. It was funny how children were. Goten seemed more attached to his father, while Gohan seemed more attached to her. She loved both her sons equally, however, and found all their little quirks amusing.
It had been about two months since the Capsule Corp. party and Chi-Chi was much less stressed. She’d finally come to understand that it was better that Goku leave than for him to remain. They’d been so unhappy living together without any love in the marriage. When he’d confessed to her that he no longer loved her, she’d felt as if her heart had been ripped from her chest, but now she realized that she obviously felt the same way. If she had loved him, then she wouldn’t have been constantly pushing him away and belittling him. It was hard to come to understand all these things and she’d been more than a little upset, but now she felt as if her life was finally falling into a happy routine.
Of course, she still had stress… She was Chi-Chi for Kami’s sake! Mainly the fact that it was surely a bad example for her sons to be constantly hanging around their homosexual father. Plus, it was absolutely disgusting! Then, there was the fact that the other man was Vejita. How could he be trusted? He’d tried to blow up the Earth and kill Gohan when he’d first arrived. That was certainly not the kind of person she wanted her children hanging around.
Stretching somewhat, she went to the hall closet and wheeled out the vacuum. Another thing that was stressing her was the fact that Gohan was spending more time with Videl, who she’d come to learn was that no account Mr. Satan’s daughter and quite rich. The roof of their house was somewhat damaged and they could always use extra money. So, she found herself busy with ideas on how to get them married.
Goten was stressing her out as well. He was so much like his father it scared her. He was innocent, strong, and not too bright. She spent a lot of time helping him study. He wasn’t nearly as swift as Gohan so it was taking him longer to understand things, but with the way the world worked, she knew that education was the only way her sons had a chance. Muscles were only going to get them so far.
Sighing, she tapped a small pedal on the back of the vacuum with her foot, causing it to turn on. Things weren't so bad… They almost seemed like they were back to normal.
"Dad, did you get those papers signed?" Bulma asked as she popped her head into her father’s office. As usual, he was piddling away with some gadget or another.
"Huh? Oh, yeah." He answered, quickly returning his attention to what he was doing.
"Well…" Bulma said, annoyance building in her voice as she stepped further into the large office.
"Huh? Well what?" her father asked, not really paying attention as he referred to Scratch, a small black cat that clung to his shoulder, about another way to get the gizmo he was working on to work.
"Well… Where are they?! I’m not here for my health, you know?!" she bellowed, storming out of the office without the papers she’d come for.
"Got to do something about that girl's temper." He mumbled.
Bulma stormed out of the half of the enormous house that served as Capsule Corp., storming into the other half that served as her, Trunks, her mother, her father’s, and once Vejita’s home.
"Oh, honey, are you upset?" Mrs. Briefs questioned sincerely, watching as her daughter stormed through the kitchen.
"It’s nothing." The blue-haired woman muttered just before rushing out the front door. She was so tense. What she needed was some fun, some excitement. She remembered back in the good old days when everyone wanted her attention, namely Yamcha, and they traveled all over the planet in search of the dragon balls.
Stepping around to the side of the house, she heard some sounds… Training sounds… Much like the ones Vejita used to make when he lived there. For some reason her mind kept bringing the arrogant prince to her attention. She was sure she’d gotten over him. She’d even been on a few dates since then.
Walking a bit further, Bulma saw that her son was busy leaping, punching, and kicking over a somewhat large worn area, where Vejita used to train. Trunks was quite busy fighting his invisible opponent, and Bulma slouched down against the house to watch.
Trunks paused, he thought he’d heard something. Turning, he smiled when he saw that his mother was sitting on the grass, watching him, her head resting in her hands.
"Hi, Mom. Whatcha doing?" he questioned, stepping over to his young-looking mother.
"Not much."
"Hn." Trunks said, plopping down on the ground beside her.
Bulma smiled, he was so much like his father, but he was also a lot like her as well. He was going to be a very pushy, demanding, arrogant man. She laughed at the thought.
"It sure is a boring day." Bulma said after her laughter had died down.
"Why don’t we go see Dad and Goten?" Trunks suggested, ignoring his mother’s small outburst of laughter.
When she didn’t answer, instead giving him a puzzled look, he explained, "Goten’s visiting Dad and Goku."
Bulma’s eyebrows rose somewhat when she remembered that her son was able to sense ki like the others. Then, she pondered his suggestion. Would it be wise to barge in on them?
"I think I’m going to stay here. I still have some work to do, but you can go if you want." Bulma finally answered. She knew that Goku wouldn’t let anything happen to her, most of all Vejita either yelling at her or killing her, but for some reason it felt odd to be in their presence. The relationship was strange and still new.
"Kay." Trunks said, not giving it another thought as he rose into the air before blasting off.
Bulma watched until her son was out of sight. She didn’t understand why she was so weirded out by Goku and Vejita’s relationship. It made sense if she thought about it. They were the only two pureblooded Saiyajin left, they had very common interests, and were both extremely handsome. She knew deep down that her heart still held a special place for the prince, but… Thinking about it, her heart also held a special place for Goku. He was her very best friend. She’d been the one who’d found him out in the mountains all those years ago. Smiling, Bulma realized that there really wasn’t anything troubling her… Then, why had she been so upset? Wait a second! She was always upset with her father! He was so lazy and perverted.
Bulma laughed lightly, rising to her feet as she headed back to the door. She needed to relieve some of her past frustrations. Yelling at her father would surely do the trick.
"Man, those kids are tough…" Goku said through a chuckle, wiping the sweat from his brow as he stepped through the backdoor into their humble home after having said goodbye to the boys.
Vejita had enjoyed the little sparring session they’d had with their young sons, but he’d been somewhat distracted the entire time. He hoped Kakarotto hadn’t picked up on it yet.
"Jita, what’s wrong?" Goku said, leaning back against the kitchen counter.
Vejita smirked; of course Kakarotto had picked up on it… Their minds were linked as one. He shook his head lightly, stepping closer to his mate.
Goku frowned; he didn’t like when Vejita kept things from him. The simple gesture had said that much.
"Please…" Goku said, hoping to convince his prince that he was there for him by the emotion he put into the single word.
Vejita denied his mate an answer, instead, pulling the younger Saiyajin down for a fierce kiss.
