The Search for the Dragonballs/Pilaf Saga
The search for the Dragonballs is really the beginning of the Dragonball series. The search begins after Bulma is introduced. Bulma is after the Dragonballs, one of which Gokou has. Bulma thinks Gokou would make a very good bodyguard so she convinces him to join her in the search.
The search for the Dragonballs is where Lord Pilaf is first introduced. Pilaf hates Gokou because Gokou accidentally detroys his plane because he thinks it is an overgrown bird. Lord Pilaf's hatred for Son Gokou lasts throughout the series and even all the way into Dragonball: GT. Gokou recieves flying Nimbus and meets Master Roshi next. Master Roshi has just what Bulma wants, a dragonball. The teenage Bulma desperately desires the Dragonball and offers Roshi a peek at her panties (did I mention shes a teenager) for the Dragonball. Fortunately, for Roshi, Gokou took her panties the night before. So she is wearing no underwear and the dirty, perverted old man gets a kick out of it.
Yamucha is the next to join the team. Yamucha is a desert bandit and is also after the dragoballs because he wants to ask the Eternal Dragon, Shenlong, to grant him his wish to be rid of his fear of the opposite sex. Now the team is Bulma, Gokou, Oolong, and Yamucha. Goku now meets up with Roshi again and instantly masters the Kamehameha technique that took master Roshi nearly 50 years to perfect without blowing himself up.
Along their journey, every dragoball in their possession is stolen except for the original one-star dragonball that Gokou has. The gang follows the robbers to Pilaf's castle, which turns out to be a trap. Now all of the dragonballs are gone. The gang escapes only to be captured again. -pilaf now has all of the Dragon Balls and summons Shen Long. Pilaf almost makes his wish for world domination but Gokou uses his newly learned Kamehameha to blast an escape route through the wall of the enclosure. Oolong gets to Pilaf before Gokou does and overrides Pilaf's wish with a wish for girl's panties instead. With the wish granted, the Eternal Dragon leaves and the Dragon Balls once again scatter to various areas of the Earth.Pilaf is obviously furious with the entire gang and locks them up in steel enclosure with an inpenetrable solid glass top. Pilaf was hoping that the morning sun would fry the gang but he didn't count on Gokou going to his Oozaru form. Gokou saw the moon from the glass top and busted out of the steel enclosure. As we all know a Saiya-jin exposed to full moonlight has his power increased ten times. Gokou now goes completely insane and destroys Pilaf's entire castle and nearly kills all of his friends in the process before his tail is cut off. So, the saga is over and it ends with Bulma getting Yamucha as her boyfriend and Yamucha overcoming his fear of girls.
21st Tenkaichi Boudoukai
The preparation for this event begins with the introduction of Kullilin, and Gokou and Kullilin being trained by Muten Roshi. Their training is in preparation for the 21st Tenkaichi Boudokai (21st World's Martial Arts Tournament). The extent of their training was doing duties with differently weighted shells strapped to their backs and general martial arts training. At the end of the training Kullilin and Gokou were wearing 40 kilogram shells on their backs. This increased the boys strength greatly and prepared them for the tournament. Yamucha trained himself by living in the wild for a time.
Here are the major matches as they happened and their outcomes:
Kullulin(winner) vs. Bacterium
Yamucha vs. Jackie Chun(Master Roshi-winner)
Namu(winner) vs. Ranfan
Gokou(winner) vs. Giran
Kullilin vs. Jackie Chun(winner)
Namu vs. Gokou(winner)
Jackie Chun(winner) vs. Gokou
Here are the brackets:

As you can see from the brackets I have made above, Jackie Chun (or Master
Roshi in disguise) proved to be too strong for Gokou to handle at that time.
The final match between Roshi and Gokou was very long and difficult for both
fighters. Both used energy attacks and Gokou even almost went to his Oozaru
form. Luckily for everyone, Roshi managed to blow up the moon before Gokou
could turn completely Oozaru. After they exchanged hits for a while, they
both agreed to use only hand to hand combat. They went on using only their
bodies and no manipulation of ki for four hours. Both fighters are out of
energy and are literally down for the count. The announcer at the tournament
then says that the first fighter to stand up, smile, and say "I guess
I'm the winner" will be declared the winner of the tournament. Gokou
is too weak and faints before he can stand. Roshi gets up slowly and says
the magic words. He is the winner of the Tenkaichi Boudokai.
The Red Ribbon Series
**(I have not seen the Red Ribbon Series yet so, rather than rip-off someone elses work, I will give only a brief summary of this series until I find out more about it. I guess you could say I will only convey the "gist" of it.)**
The Red Ribbon Series is actually not separate from the 21st Tenkaichi Boudoukai but the way I organized this page it is. The Red Ribbon Series includes the training of Son Gokou and Kuririn by Master Roshi when Gokou is taught the Kamehameha. Later on, after the tournament, Gokou is trained by Kami-Sama and again by Master Roshi. This time around his training was used to defeat Dr. Gero. Gero is a lasting menace throughout Dragonball, Z, and even GT.
Piccolo Daimo Series
The Piccolo Daimo series was a series that every Dragonball fan was looking forward to. Everyone wanted to see Piccolo Daimo get the living crap beat out of him because he murdered Kulilin and killed Master Roshi. Gokou is still a young boy during this battle and had just gotten back from Karin's (small white cat) Tower where he recieved the Super Holy Water, which can provide whoever drinks it with incredible power. Piccolo Daimo was wreaking havoc all over earth. And in case you dont know who Piccolo Daimo is then go to my Character Bios page to find out. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah Piccolo Daimo is in the heat of a battle with Tenshinhan and is about to kill him when Gokou shows up. Gokou and Daimo exchange words and Piccolo says that it will only take five seconds to kill Gokou. Gokou is reasonably pissed at this statement ane begins to beat up Piccolo Daimo pretty badly. Now Gokou makes a remark something towards "your five seconds are up" and now Piccolo is pissed. Okay so now they're both pissed but this time Piccolo makes the run at Gokou. Gokou is unphased by Piccolo's atack and hits Piccolo once. This single blow sends Piccolo flying into the last member of Daimo's team, Piano. This kills Piano. Now Piccolo and Gokou fight again, going punch for punch. Gokou says that he is dissapointed in Piccolo's power level and tells him to fight at full power. Piccolo agrees and now Gokou and Piccolo are at full power.
Piccolo grabs Gokou and smashes him into the ground, creating
a large crater. Piccolo gloats for a while but soon in the distance he hears
a faint scream. The scream is "Ka-Me-Hame.." and Gokou leaps out
of the crater and screams "HA!." Piccolo thinks he will simply block
the attack but Gokou changes the trajectory of his attack and strikes Piccolo.
This doesn't kill Piccolo but takes him off of his feet. To say that Piccolo
Daimo is ULTRA SUPER MEGA Pissed off at Gokou would be an understatement.
Gokou takes out his extending rod (Nyoibi Staff in Japan) but it gets totally
destroyed by Piccolo. Piccolo proceeds to blow up an entire block and thinks
he has won again but he then sees Tenshinhan holding Gokou above his head.
Tenshinhan took the blast from Piccolo himself and is almost dead. Gokou thanks
him and returns to battle (even though Goku is close to a corpse himself at
this point).Though half dead, Gokou still believes he has a chance to come
out on top and beat Piccolo Daimo. Piccolo is totally stunned and fires another
huge energy blast a Gokou creating an even larger crater. When Gokou calls
for Nimbus (or "Kintoen" in Japan), and reveals that he was not
killed by the blast, Piccolo Daimo is now completely shocked that someone
could live through his power. Seeing Gokou's true power, Daimo comes to the
conclusion that he can't win fairly. Piccolo goes to the sideline and picks
up the half dead Tenshinhan by his head, threatening to crush his skull if
Gokou launches another attack. In the corny Dragonball fashion, Tenshinhan
urges Gokou to attack anyway but Gokou by his very nature wouldn't endanger
his friend. Piccolo hurls rocks at the cornered Gokou, breaking his arm and
both of his legs. Gokou now lays on the ground while Piccolo finally releases
Tenshinhan. Gokou powers up a Kamehameha with his one good hand. Piccolo prepares
to finish off Gokou and screams for him to "Die!" Both warriors
clash and Gokou is totally gone now with no energy left. Piccolo slowly advances
to the position where Gokou is lying when suddenly the Super Holy Water kicks
in and Gokou launches himself through Piccolo Daimo's chest with a Kamehameha.
Piccolo spits up blood, but before he explodes he spits out an egg (containg
the Piccolo we all know and love today). Daimo begs for his son to avenge
his death but soon after that he dies in a huge explosion. With the daimo
(devil) dead, Yajirobe takes Gokou to Karin Tower to heal and get a senzu
bean.
