Gundam Wing, General Information.
A short summary of Gundam Wing, and The Endless Waltz.
Gundam Wing is set in the years After Colony 195 and 196. Human beings have
moved to space and a group called The United Earth Sphere Alliance controls
everything, or seems to. In truth Treize Khushrenada, the leader of OZ, is
really pulling the strings. OZ has been planted in The Alliance under a group
name of “The Specials”, the most highly trained pilots. Many jealousies occur
because of this.
The colonies have been seized by the Earth Sphere and its pacifist leader,
the original Heero Yuy, assassinated. In retribution, five pilots have been
sent to Earth in incredibly advanced and armored Mobile Suits called Gundams
to wage Guerilla warfare on OZ, whom they know is really pulling the strings.
OZ eventually manages to partially silence the activities of the Gundams
by holding the colonies at gunpoint, and the Gundam Pilots go into hiding.
Shortly after this Treize pulls his Coup D’Etat and seizes control of the
Earth Sphere, reducing the Alliance to nothing but what’s left of their forces
in space.
Realizing they don’t have much chance on the Earth, the Gundams return to
Space only to find themselves betrayed. OZ has sent Lady Une as a diplomat
to extend friendly relations with Space and has partially succeeded. Fearing
violence, the colonies have shunned the Gundams and the pilots are left to
fend for themselves.
After Quatre’s father’s death, Quatre stumbles across the designs for Wing
Zero, the most powerful Gundam, and builds it, going on a rampage and destroying
colony after colony. Approximately three colonies are completely destroyed
before Heero brings him to his senses. The conflict escalates in space.
Relena Peacecraft has taken custody of the Sanc Kingdom in her father’s place
and is rallying the rest of the earth to her side, where she is renowned
for her non-violent ways. The Romefeller Foundation, the founders of OZ’s
Mobile Suits, sees this and plans for her assassination. Heero and Quatre
return to Earth to prevent this.
Treize has been confined by Romefeller because of his distaste for the Mobile
Dolls and a faction of OZ begins attacking Doll Stations, naming themselves
the Treize Faction. OZ begins to fall apart at this stage. White Fang appears,
proclaiming themselves a colonie revolutionary group willing to do what the
Gundams could not. Led by Milliardo Peacecraft, White Fang steals the space
station Libra and plans to use it to destroy the Earth.
About this time, the Sanc Kingdom collapses and Romefeller elect Relena Peacecraft
as the new Queen of the Earth Sphere, but is usurped two days after her election
by the newly-released Treize, who fears she cannot fight her brother. He
assembles any soldiers left and plans for the coming conflict with his old
friend Milliardo.
During the conflict with White Fang OZ is destroyed and Treize has died in
a battle in space with Wufei Chang. The Peacemillion, the ship used by the
Gundams as their battle staging grounds, has collided with Libra and the
Gundam Scientists have sacrificed themselves to destroy it, effectively preventing
Libra from colliding with Earth. However, a large block of Libra has broken
off and is heading towards Earth, and is still big enough to cause mass extinction
on the planet.
After finishing his battle with Milliardo Heero speeds to destroy the block
as the other pilots attempt to destroy it from the inside. Heero flies ahead
of it and destroys the block with a well-aimed shot from his buster rifle,
and peace reigns on Earth for a time being.
One year later, Quatre has convinced all the pilots save Wufei to send their
Gundams into the Sun, believing they are no longer needed. A day after sending
them away Maremeia Khushrenada, Treize’s unknown daughter, kidnaps Relena
Dorlian, planning to use her to create a sense of familiarity for the people.
A day after her kidnapping, Maremeia declares her intention to take back
the Earth Sphere by force and commences her invasion. Quatre manages to save
the Gundams and they return to Earth to aid in the fight against Maremeia.
Heero is caught in space battling with Wufei Chang, who has joined Maremeia’s
forces because he does not agree with Relena’s methods for peace. Heero disillusions
Wufei and drops his Gundam into the sea, emerging a short time after to go
after Maremeia.
The Gundams and their allies have managed to destroy all of Maremeia’s forces
without taking a single soldier’s life, and Heero penetrates the bunker.
Relena has convinced Maremeia of her foolishness and Dekim Barton, the real
mastermind behind the invasion, attempts to shoot Relena. Maremeia throws
herself into the bullet to save Relena’s life, and Dekim is shot by one of
his soldiers as a traitor.
Une adopts Maremeia and peace is restored on the planet. The fighting machines
known as Mobile Suits are never seen again, and the pilots self-destruct
their Gundams from a safe distance.
And, they all lived happily ever after. .. .. I think.
