The Vison of Escaflowne
This section is still under constuction. What will be here? Info? Maybe if I EVER get the time! But the following sites do Esca info better then I ever could check them out! "Visons of Escaflowne" has more info on the series than I can ever think of typing. Now that doesn't mean I won't make an attempt, but it just won't be in the near future that I can see.

If you're looking for The Escaflowne Movie info "Tsubasa no Kami" is one of my favorite sites EVER.

So if I'm not going to put info then what's this section even for? I'm going to put images and hopefully illistarted summaries for all 26 episodes. *crosses fingers*

Basics
Tenku no Escaflowne or just Escaflowne.

This is one of my favorite series. It was edited and shown of Fox Kids in America on saturday mornings until about episode 10 when the show was canceled. The entire edited version was shown of YTV in Canada at least twice.
Hopefully someday this series will have it's own section here, but in the meantime I have some absolutely wonderful links for you. I honestly don't think I could do better then these guys did myself.

The story is about an average high-school girl named Hitomi who reads tarot cards for fun and has a crush on her track captain. One day Hitomi gets pulled into another world called Gaia (there are lots of spellings for Gaia, just FYI)after a guy named Van slayes a dragon right before her eyes. Gaia is war-stricken and after shortly after Van's coronation to become king of his country Fanelia, it's burned to the ground by the Zaibach army. After awakening the legendary Guymelef Escaflowne (giant meccha) he grabs Hitomi and they make their escape. Later they catch up with Van's childhood cat-girl companion Merle, the dashing devonare knight Allen and his crew and the Princess of Austuria Millerna. There are tons of characters in this series which play a huge part in making it wonderful. There's also pyromaniac Dilandau and the Statigos of Zaibach Folken.

Escaflowne in my opinion seems to have something for everyone, action, romance, giant fighting mechs (thought they call them Guymelefs and unlike the mechs in GW these things MOVE)fantasy and some great unexpected turns. The series is drawn mostly shoujo (girly) style with skinny charaters and bishounen. Don't worry though you won't get lost in pretty fluffy hair. The series is 26 episodes long. it has at least 2 manga series one was the3 volume original idea for Escaflowne done shounen style with Hitomi, a shy girl with long hair and glasses practically wearing no clothes. The second is a little harder to find shoujo style version which is basically a romance between Hitomi and Van. I believe there is a third Parody version and there is of course a ton of doujinshi.

In 2000 the Escaflowne movie came out it's got the same basic girl gets sucked into war-stricken Gaia thing the charaters have the same names but are TOTALLY Different from the series. The movie is much darker and more violent. (Hitomi is suicidal for example well OK she says she wants to "disapear" but you get it.) Right now the movie is in select theaters in North America (See the official Escflowne Movie Website for Details www.escamovie.com It should be available on DVD (a special edition including the soundtrack or a regular edition summer 2002)

A couple things to mentionThe music for both the series and movie is wonderfully done by Yoko Kanno. All 8 unedited DVDs/VHSs and th "Fox Kids" edited version for the Series have been released by Bandai I highly recommend the DVDs, they are bilingual meaning they have the English dub and the Japanese version with subtitles as well as some cast interviews. (I personally perfer the sub because I like the Japanese voices for Dilandau and the dragonslayers more. However the dub isn't too bad, the adaptation is accurate, most of the acting is pretty good and Kirby Morrow does a great voice for Van.)
