Intoccabile [Act 2]

Continuing from the last episode of Noir, we open at the cliff where Mireille and Silvana are picking flowers.  Silvana looked a bit sad as she smelled the flower as Mireille reminisces in the background of what someone once told her about Silvana.  "Intoccabile, the one that you must not interfere with -- the most brutal princess in the world."  Turning to face the young Mirielle, Silvana unsheathed her dagger and said again that she have no fear.  Mireille thought to herself again that she can't win, against the Intoccabile.

[Title Screen]

The scene opens in a vast forest where loud gunshots echo through the trees.  Kirika is practicing her left hand shooting skill against a bunch of empty metal can, while accurate, it isn't as good as her right hand.  She looks down at her right arm and winced when she tries to move the bandaged arm.  Looking up, Mireille walks forward toward the target practice with gun in her hand.  She proceed to aim with fierce determination, and flashbacks to the memory of when she had her gun pointed against Silvana.  As Silvana looked at her under the moonlit room, Mireille trembles.  Back at the forest, Mireille could not concentrate as she kept thinking over and over about the meeting with Silvana -- she remembers the light of the moon, creeping up against her face, had Silvana seen Mireille's face?  Aiming with a trembling hand, Mireille attempts to shoot at the empty cans, but could not do it.  Finally, Mireille lowered her gun and sighs softly to herself as Kirika watches worriedly.

Scene changes to the airport, as a box of something with a bundle of white flower over it is being dragged to an airplane.  Inside, Silvana stared out the window as she was interrupted by Paulo and Dominic as they thanked her.  They thank her for bringing Don Fransico's body back to soils of Sicily but wonders why Silvana is also going with them.  Silvana replied that she wishes to investigate the contract and also that it is the place that she wants to put the matter to rest.

Back in the hotel room where Mirielle and Kirika is staying at, Kirika is concerned about whether or not Silvana have seen her face but Mirielle retorted angrily that she doesn't know!  She continues that if her face had been seen, then the enemy probably would've already moved against them.  Kirika warns that it'd be dangerous to go to Sicily and think ...  but Mirielle cuts her off and ask her to prepare as well for the trip.

Arrived in Sicily already, Silvana opens the window of her room and looks out at the green scenery happily.  Interrupted by Dominic?, he tells her that Father Veroni is waiting for her at the Church and Silvana nods in acknowledgement.

In the Chuch, Father Veroni looks over the document that Silvana brought him and says that Ritz must've stolen the document from Don Rusio.  That on the bottom of the contract is signature from the ancestors of Gleone family, Messina.  The contract was made when Gleone family was given ownership of the land from the feudal lord.  Father Veroni continues that the document is not only a great paper historical wise, there is also another importance to it.  Silvana quoted that she'd not cover her ears against the truth.  Veroni then says that the document is written on September 9, 1791 of when feudal lord hired land managers like the Gleone family to oversee the land.  And since Gleone family had to hire more people to farm the land they practically became the ruler of their piece of land.  This is the origin of the Mafia, the Cosa Nostra.  And that the document proves that Gleone family is one of the oldest.

In a car driving along the coast of the ocean on the backdrop of a beautiful sunset, Dominic and Paulo discusses why Noir want something like the contract they have in their hands.  Dominic says that the history of the Cosa Nostra, although 200 years old, is short compared to that of Noir which spanned the past 1000 years...  Silvana became lost in thought as flashback of the time when Mireille and herself were playing on the cliff top again.

The scene reveals more and more about what had happened.  They were hand in hand, Mireille and Silvana as they laughed and ran up the hill.  Together, they gathered flower and presented one another with the crown of yellow flowers.  As they picked more flowers, Silvana dropped the flower she had in hand and Mireille looked at her curiously.  Going over to stand on the cliff edge, Silvana stares over the horizon as Mireille goes to join her side.  Looking down, Mireille gasps in surprise at the height of where they are as the waves crashed against the rocks down below.  Mireille whispers that she is scared and Silvana replies that she gave her a flower crown, and that she should have courage not to dishonor the flower crown.  Mireille looked up at Silvana questioningly, as Silvana continued that she does not have any fear... and ask Mireille if she have any fear?  Holding up her small dagger, Silvana asked again if Mireille have any fear?  Mireille backed away slowly, fear filling her large eyes as Silvana draws her dagger and start running after Mireille.  With a single slash against Mireille's head, Silvana rushed past Mireille.  A paused moment after, Mireille gasps in surprise and terror when a lock of her hair is cut off as well as the crown of flower.

Staring down at the field of flower, Mireille is brought back from her flashback as Kirika approached her from behind and called out her name.  Mireille asks Kirika to head back to the hotel first as she gazes out into the ocean's horizon.  Kirika looks back worriedly.  In an abandoned house on the coast (where they first met), Mireille goes up the balcony and stretches out and smiled against the ocean's horizon.  Suddenly, a voice appeared behind her saying "I thought you'd be here."  Turning around, Silvana greets the surprised Mireille, the daughter of Corsica.  Mireille realized then that Silvana did see, and Silvana confirms that the moonlight did reveal the hidden.  Mireille couldn't believe that Silvana remembers her, that the once they met so long ago, Silvana remembers her face.  Silvana smiled at the memory and said that Mireille was shaking at the time... and now, she have become Noir standing in front of her.  Approaching slowly, Silvana goes right up against Mireille and kisses her firmly on her lips as Mireille's eyes bulges in surprise.  As the kiss went on, Mireille suddenly brought her fist up to punch Silvana but her wrist was caught by Silvana.  Through her clenched teeth, Mireille said, "the kiss of death."  Silvana smiled superiorly and acknowledge Mireille's understanding of what just happened and said she'd be waiting at the Shrine of Riveo with the contract.  Turning away, Silvana left while leaving a trembling Mireille behind.  Whispering, Mireille asked into the air, "You didn't go back?"  And Kirika slowly came out of where she was hiding with gun in her hand and said, "that person...?"  Mireille nods and Kirika whispers, "Intoccabile."

Deeply entrenched in a valley, Silvana with her two guards wait in the ruins of Shrine of Riveo.  Paulo recognized the place soon as they arrived and begin to ask.  Silvana cuts him off with the reply that this is the place that she killed her father 5 years ago.  To that answer, Paulo and Dominic looks at her with even more reverence.  Silvana smiled and the music plays.

In the front of the Shrine and under a great arch entrance, Mireille and Kirika faces one another then sprinted off each going at opposite direction.  Deep in the shadow of a cave behind huge pillars, Dominic awaits with a huge shotgun and within the many rooms of the Shrine, Paulo lies await with an uzi/handgun.

Kirika ran into the shadowed cavern where Dominic waits and as she runs from pillar to pillar hiding.  Unable to see anything but a shadow of a man, she switched her gun from her right to her left only as she takes aim at the shadow.  Gasping in surprise at knowing Dominic already knows she is there, Kirika retreats as he blows out huge chunks of the stone.

Hearing the gunshots from Dominic's firing, Paulo grinned and puts out his smoke.  Lone Mireille walks down the huge hallway seemingly confident.

In the cavern, Kirika fires down at the unknown and hides behind a broken-in-half pillar.  Looking up to see whats beyond, Kirika is surprised again by a shotgun blast and immediately ducks back down.  Paulo appears suddenly in front of Kirika and opens a barrage of machine gun fire.  Kirika runs to the side and leaps to dodge the shower of bullets but sprains her left arm.  Paulo and Dominic grinned at one another and proceed to follow and kill Kirika.  Running away from the site, Kirika tries to catch a breather but she dropped her gun from her left hand because it hurts so badly.  Holding up her left hand and gasping in pain, Paulo and Dominic approaches closer.  As Kirika gets away further down the sewer that she got into, she begins to undo the bandage on her right arm.

Deep in the sewer, Dominic comes up at a room where waters from different sewer pipes pours into the room.  Looking around and not seeing Kirika, he turns to leave -- but suddenly, turns and start firing into one of the small waterfall created by the sewer system.  Then another, then another.  With a small grin on his face, he then started tumbling over with a bullet wound through his heart.  Kirika's shadow appears from the last waterfall as she came out with the gun bandages onto her right hand.

Looking over his dead partner's corpse, Paulo runs back to the main part of the shrine, where Kirika is running up the stairs.  Paulo takes aim and shoots up at her, and suddenly, he sees the body of Kirika falling down.  He grinned and chuckled at the body falling, but turned into surprise to see Kirika actually falling AND aiming her gun at his face with emotionless eyes.  Kirika falls past him with a rope tied to her leg.  As Paulo screams his death, Kirika swings back and forth on the rope.

Outside in a wide open field with a stone pillars, Mireille approaches the lone figure.  Silvana calls out to Mireille that she was waiting for her, and while continuing her slow walk, Mireille raises her gun at Silvana.  But suddenly, Mireille recoils in surprise and perhaps fear, when Silvana presented the dagger that cutted the young Mireille's crown of flower.  Unsheathing the dagger slowly, Silvana quoted a line from Sicilians, "Revenge is the best forgiveness," and tosses the sheath away and faces Mireille.

Immediately, Silvana run toward Mireille using Mitsurugi Ryu Kendo Style and Mireille frozed in terror at seeing such Kenshin likeness exuding from Silvana.  Kirika catches up finally and shouts out Mireille's name, but it appears to be too late.  Silvana's blade is already deeply embedded within Mireille's midsections.  Still gasping in surprising at feeling the blade around her middle, the tip section of the blade falls past them and landed on the floor, clinging.

Silvana realizes something isn't quite right and let a small gasp go.  Kirika pants softly with her left arm supporting the aim of her right bandaged gun.  Still holding onto one another, Silvana slowly pulls her blade back to reveal that her tip of the sword have been blown into half by Kirika.  The realization that Silvana's sliver of sharp blade and Mireille's gun laid behind them dawns on both at once as they sprint into action to grab whatever weapons they could grab.  Leaping forward, Mireille ended up with the blade while Silvana points the gun at Mireille.  Then, imitating the style that Silvana executed earlier, Mireille stabs her.

Kirika slowly approaches them in the falling sunset, as Silvana holds up the tattered contract with Mireille looking out over to the side, not able to face them.  With her last breath, Silvana asks why did they wanted the contract and to that, Mireille replied, "My parents..."  Silvana then holds out the contract toward Mireille's back and whispers, "To Noir, to the daughter of Corsica, now, I present you with the crown of flower.  Will you accept it? Mireille?"  Silvana gasps out her last breath and the contract fells to the floor besides her.  Kirika bends down to pick up the contract and reads it.  Looking at the contract then at Silvana, then at Mireille who stood up.  Mireille whispers that this is very terrible road, just like Kirika.

Back at their small apartment, Mireille went over contract that they got from Silvana.  Mireille leans back into her chair and thought out aloud about the relationship between the Mafia and Soldats as Kirika stares out the window.  The questions still remain...
