| Summary: |
|
Subaru Sumeragi is a unique sixteen year old, he's an omyouji (translated as "medium" in the dub, but is also translated "ying yang sorceror") and the next head of the Sumeragi clan, which has been keeping Japan safe for generations. He has an energetic twin sister named Hokuto, and the two orphans live and work alone in Tokyo. There they befriend a young veterinarian named Seishirou Sakurazuka, who is certainly more than he seems. Hanging over the shadow of the trio is the legend of the Sakurazukamori, a heartless group of assasins, the rivals to the Sumeragi clan. Tokyo Babylon critiques Japanese society through the cases that Subaru takes, and makes a rather pessimistic statement about the world in general with its catastrophic ending. The two anime are only stories within the framework of the series and do not have a satisfactory ending. The manga is the only place the entire story can be found. |
