Evangelion Synopsis
Neon Genesis is in my opinion one of the best animes ever
to be released. The story is that it is many years after an event called
the third fall. The earth is at war with these things called the angels
which happen to be monsters of various forms and attributes. So the
show starts off with Shinji a boy who is suppose to meet a woman named
Misato. Eventually Misato does show up apologizing for her lateness
that's when the earth is left with no other choice but to nuke the first
angel. So Misato tells Shinji to get down the blast happens but the
angel does not die. So now its of to meet up with Shinji's day of course
Shinji knows that his dad only wants to see him because he wants something
a this time its no different. Shinji's father has created a mech called
an Eva which can only be piloted by kids. So basically in need of a
new pilot because the old one (Ayaname Rei) is hurt he askes Shinji
to help him.
At first Shinji is hesiatant and says no but eventually
decides to pilot the Eva in an attempt to please and maybe get accepted
by his father for a change. Unfortunantly while piloting the mech Shinji
goes crazy but does manage to kill the first angel. And so after this
first battle it is decided that instead of living alone Shinji will
live with Misato. Thus eventually we are introduced to a third and fourth
pilot in the show. Basically the rest of the show is based on the war
between the humans and the angels. With the ever so present messages
of being accepted, self pity, religion, love, and the meaning to life
included within each episode we find out that Evangelion is more than
a good anime it's a great anime that can only truly be respect if you
think on a college level or so equvilant to that. And if you don't know
what I mean by that just watch the show followed by the movie entitled
the End of Evangelion to understand what I mean.
So I recommend this show to those of 16 and up due to the fact that
it is too gory for little kids and they just won't get the higher and
hidden messages present throughout the series. So out of a possible
ten I give Neon Genesis Evangelion a ten due to its creativity and great
writing.
