Lt. Bob
When Anavel Gato broke into Torrington base to steal the Physalis Gundam, Lt. Bob was lying in wait outside the base in his YMS-16M Xamel. He stayed behind until the Jukon sub had used up a good amount of it's missles and their solution began to drift. Lt. Bob alerted the Jukon to correct their solution and then headed for Torrington. He unlocked his huge 680mm cannon, and fired on Torrington base. He then fired again, this time taking out an entire story of a building, killing the base commander. When Gato left the base, Lt. Bob went with him, along with a Dom Tropen. Several Gm units gave chase, which the Zeon pilots quickly disposed of. Chuck Keith, Kou Uraki, and South Burning then caught up with the Zeons, and Uraki took out the escape Komusai II before Gato could escape on it. Keith destroyed the Dom Tropen, and Lt. Bob unloaded some missels at Uraki. Bob told Gato that he would hold them off while Gato escaped on a recovery ship from the Jukon Sub. Though Gato didn't want to leave him, they both knew the small recovery ship could never carry the Xamel anyway. Burning, telling Uraki to go after Gato, charged at Bob to keep him busy. Burning's leg was broken, but the Xamel was stabed with Burning's beam saber, and Lt. Bob was presumed dead. Gato escaped to the Jukon Sub before eventually getting into space (see Neuen Bitter character biography).
YMS-16M Xamel
The YMS-16M Xamel was the first true artillery mobile suit, designed as a mobile artillery gun battery. Equipped with a powerful hoverjet system in its legs and skirt armor, it could skim along the ground at high speed, giving it the ability to fire, move to another location, set up and fire again without giving away its position. It's huge 680 mm cannon could be folded up for transport when not in use. It's problem was that it's close-combat abilities were extremely limited, with only a pair of almost useless arms and a 20 mm vulcan gun turret mounted in the head. The Xamel also featured a tandem-seat cockpit, crewed by a pilot and a gunner. It is unknown exactly how many of these prototype units were produced.
