Old Updates #2 - March 24 2001 to Dec. 26 2001

12.26.01

Merry, erm- Boxing Day to you all. I hope everbody had an ejoyable Christmas for those who celebrate it. I though i'd give the new computer a good workout by making a new layout. Easily my favorite out of the Depeche Mode themed ones.

As said above, i got a new computer for Christmas. Well, it's not mine, more of a family present, but i tend to get the most use out of the computer. That said, i have the best, most amazing brother on the planet. Why, you ask? Well, not only was the computer from him, he built it himself! How much does that rock!

Best brother on the planet, i tells ya.

Ummmm... ya... about updating this dump... O.o (Well, i'll get to that later)

Yeeeah! New layout- and yes, still hooked on Depeche mode. Don't expect my interest to burn out anytime fast, i've had keen interest in them for more than a week... methinks that's a record for me.

Back to no-updates. As my friends would say "Way to update, no-update." (uh, it's funnier when she says it.) ::shuffles feet:: It's kind of funny, the only time i ever seem to update this page is when i change the layout... hmmm... but seriously now, school has me suffering from the "i have no free time" syndrome again. The only free time i do have i cram into Tuesday and Sunday evenings to watch 'buffy' and 'the x-files'. Well, i do have more than that i suppse, but not enough to actually update a freaking site >_<

Halloween candy is good after halloween, well, to buy anyway. It's super marked down, except sometimes they taste a little funny *_* ::shrugs:: not that that's ever stopped me from eating any.

I think i'm a masochist at heart or something. I'm extremely depressed and bitter about missing Depeche Mode's tour here in June (yeah, STILL) so to "compensate" as of late, i've massed a nice collection of live MP3's. In the end it just make's me more depressed to listen to how good they sound and how much the audience is cheering and that i could have been there (even though i heard the show here wasn't that great >_< But it's still the principle of it.) I've got an awsome one of "Enjoy the Silence" from Cologne, Germany from '98 ... the vocals are great and the audience is even singing by themselves for a verse or so. He also talks to the audience, which for any band, is major brownie points in my book. I hate going to a show and the performer doesn't talk to the audience. I find it rude for some reason. If i was a singer on tour, you never hear me shut up. I'd ramble on about everything, and likely have a class-action lawsuit against me by the end of the eveing.

"Yeah, that's right."

I'm thinking of adding a blog/journal to this site. I've noticed that all my updates tend to turn into that.

Hmmm... and don't forget to wear your poppies tomorrow. It's the least you can do.

::groan:: ugh ... it's school time again ... and boy do i miss summer ^.^ [oh yes ... um, my apologies about not posting over the summer ...] the course load this first semester is pretty heavy, so i won't be updating as much as i'd like, and the page design is prolly going to stay the same till christmas [unless i get really sick of it, but that's not likely to happen ^.^]

well, i lied, there will be one more about a month from now, then that's likely all till the holidays ... anyway, i'm going to stratford [ontario, not england] at the end of the month with school ::jumps up and down in excitment:: i've never gone on a trip anywhere so i'm really excited about it ^.^ i'm definately going to scan some picture in to show off ^.^

if you didn't notice- new layout! i thought i'd theme it after depeche mode because i'm a weirdo who likes old music [::snork:: it's better that a lot of the stuff that's out now ...] anyway, it's depeche mode ::gives thumbs up:: i'm not sure what else to say, i plug their music here and i don't think you want to listen to me go on about how good looking they are ^_- [well, for old guys at least O_o]

ANYWAY, the usual empty promises for next time i update, except this time i'll actually try to meet them ^.^

well that's all for now. adios.

06.23.01

first off- happy summer to you all! i'm in much better spirits now since the rotten, crap-tacular school year is officially done now ... of course now i have to find a job so so much for free time ...

anyway, new layout entitled velvet. go to the about page if you want to learn a little background info on it ^.^ i think my favorite 'theme' image for this is the one on this page- with morten harkett dead in the tub [oh, don't look so shocked] the runner up is of course, the ever disturbing one on the main index page [if you can't tell what's wrong with it, it's best you don't know ...] but worry not- it's all fake. no musicians were hurt in the making of this page >_<

dies, nox et omnia is now functional. this is my new-and-improved shitennou site. as well gunn'2 is new to the hands. this is about my little obsession with the tv show, the x-files. i'm also putting the finishing touches on my utena site, spira mirabilis theatre and ffvii page, in trutina mentis dubia.

anyway, that's it for now. i have a lot of fanart i still have to scan in sometime too, so that should be here next time i update. mind you, i still have a lot to do with this site ^.^

05.05.01

ummmm ... ya, i haven't died, really ^.^ no, i've just been excessively busy with school amoung other things ... still am too, but felt like i should update this pile of garbage now and again. nothing much added though, there will be better stuff once i'm less busy with school work, then of course i'll just be busy with job work ... *sighs* it never ends. nothing really in this update, added some more of the stupid writing folder things i do for english and added some fanart of a fic i read in like march or something ... ^_^;;; though, i am happy to plug that i've read two amazing books, one of which i probably the best i ever read in all of my measely 18-year existance ^.^ anyway, needed something to read on the way to co-op so i picked up red dragon by thomas harris (it's the first book with hannibal lecter in it) anyway, though he's only in it for about three chapters it is absolutely, none-the-less, a wonderful piece of fiction ^.^ i highly recommend it. anyway, i skipped silence of the lambs (hey, i heard the it was almost the same as the move and let's face it, i really wanted to read hannibal) anyway, finished hannibal about two days ago ... HOLY CRAP! it's the best book i've ever read! like i said, it's been three days since i've finished it and i still have that distinct "buzz" you have after you finish a really good book ^_^ i've been reading around, and found that a lot of people didn't like it because of the "choppy" way the story was constructed- how for the first part was about clarice, and then the next about hannibal and so forth, because of that you couldn't form an attachment to any one character ... i actually though that was good way to do it, considering there isn't one main character in the story. the other thing people really didn't like about the book was the ending ... heh heh heh ... that was what got me in the end ... how he managed to have that happen logically instead of the reader going "oh, ya right, like that would happen" i guess a lot of people missed the point of the book, and only skimmed when there was any sort of deep character development. it did lose that allure of mystery that "silence" had, but i still think it was well done. made sense to me.

the one thing that did piss me off though was the movie >__<

i never did get the chance to see it ... when it came out it reminded me that i still had to see the silence of the lambs (it's really sad that it's taken me 10 years to see it) anyway, i heard that parts were well done, but all and all, it was pretty hollow. the parts that really did bug me, and leads me to believe that the screen writer didn't even read the book, are three things. first, the ending. i actually don't know how it ends, but i've read in places that the ending in the movie and the book are different. very differnt. okay, i can understand that, considering the bulk of the book is descriptions and generally things that are hard to portray in a movie (ie: not conversation and action) i can understand how it would be hard to get the ending into a movie in a logical form ... but still. secondly, they left out no-face's sister, margot. though her part isn't neccessarily vital to the story as, oh say, clarice, she still is fairly important. and lastly, the part the bugged me the most, the part that told me the movie was hollow, sensationalistic crap was the fact that they left out mischa. WHAT THE HELL? i'm sorry, the screen writer was a dumbass. that was probably the only redeeming part that would make people go "ya, it was violent, but it was really well done and made you think a little. poor guy." but no, they left out the catalyist in hannibal's life which is why the movie has little, if any point at all. the only other problem i can see with the movie is the violent content. the book was considerably violent, but i think if they had kept it a little more low-key people probably wouldn't have said it was such a bad flick. the gore is so shocking you can't notice anything else but that. such a shame too, anthony hopkins is brilliant.

but agian, i'll never be able to render my final verdict until i've seen the movie. expect a big rant when i do ^.^ my favorite part about the book was the very last line (yes, the last) i don't know if they were able to weasle it into the movie, if it wasn't, it should have been (even though it does tie into all the stuff that was left out ...) anyway, the ingenious line is : "we can learn only so much an live." a truth on so many levels. to our own lives and to the book. it connects to all the characters, and especially to hannibal and clarice.

in other words, it sums up the novel perfectly.

03.24.01

heyla, spring is slowly starting to come- so far it's been a mix of snow and rain (don't ask me how that works...) but hey, it's better than snow ^.^ anyway- new layout! (well, sort of) and the "funny" non-english words are nowegian (go norway!) um, ya, anyway, aside from the new layout i moved the old updates to another page (since they were taking up space ^.^ still gotta dig around to find the really updates ... if they still even exist >__<) also did some more fanart and added a new page- collective (this is basically a page with links to all my 'separate' pages on this page ^.^) well, that's it for now.unfortunately though, nothing is really going to be updated at all for a while- as i've grown really sick of all the layouts for everything and want re-vamp everything ^.^ (oh come on, it's gonna look pretty when i'm done, okay O__o) oh yes, and a rare occurence, i am going to acknowledge my birthay (ah, over a week ago) in order to show off the adorable birthday present moon momma made for me ^.^
