The twin Gomamon jumped off the cliff and doing an uber-niffy dive they landed in the water with no splashes. They grinned at the Gizamon and offered him their uber-spiffy swimming skills
Above the cliff Damen hastily gave Taira back her digivice and got really quiet and looked at the new people who had just arrived; mainly Christo. He had never seen someone so young, well, not as young as that. He moved his eyes away and looked at the floor not wanting to get any attention on him as the whole Sayu problem was being solved.
Taira coughed and smacked at the nearest guy to her. "Sayu is trapped in a cave or something and all you can do is discuss how perverted the world is. Why don't you all SHUT UP and calm down so we can figure this all out. We have a new person here and his Gomamon just jumped off the cliff to help. Can we at least have a level head till we solve this... after that I don't care what goes on!"
Damen luckily was not that close to her. He noticed his digimon in fact were gone and he walked over to the edge. They waved and smiled at him with huge grins.
Thian cocked an eyebrow at Taira after she whapped him (and he rubbed his arm for a moment). "The only method I know of helping has you taking off your shirt, so I doubt you really want me to join in." He suddenly smirked a little. "Or am I wrong?"
Wollymon got bored of listening to Mushroomon sing about spiders, and bounced over to the cliff, where all the action seemed to be happening. "Hello!" he burbled merrily at Damen. "Your partners seem to be having fun down there! I know I did." He giggled a little, then rolled onto his side to look up at the boy more. "How come you've got two partners anyways, huh? I wish I had another partner! That'd be so fun!!" He bounced in place eagerly.
Damen blinked at the sudden question. "Well, they are twins... Plus when I was a digidestined I happened to have them in one egg. Once again I am the only one with twin digimon." The answer was actually told without him having to think really.
The digimon twins in the water had already dove under. "RACE YOU!" yelled Charles.
"They are obsessed with being humon. Funny little creatures. But after a few years you get used to them."
The race was on and Charles was the first to pop his head up. "Hello...." He asked cautiously.
"That makes sense!" Wollymon giggled, merrily oblivious to what Damen had just implied. "Gomamon are always the funnest to play with," he continued. "I hope you're gonna join us! I'd like to have some more friends."
Kyrainia glanced over at Taira. "Right, so you, despite having had not even been with our group for the past bit of time, are all of a sudden able to come in and yell at us to shut up and assess the situation? And, mind you, you're able to yell at us to shut up about trivial things such as how perverted the world is, yet you for a while, I believe, was quite a little psychopath, yelling about buttermoths or something of the like? Well that seems rather ridiculous..." she said, looking at the other girl. She cocked her head slightly and raised an eyebrow.
"Someone is going to push YOU off that cliff in a minute..." Christo glared at Kyrainia, "You think, Kyrainia, that you can just look on scornfully while the rest of us try to sort out the mess that we are ALL in, and just make little comments about how much you hate Chris?!?!" She closed her eyes and counted to ten. She sighed, "Look, I'm sorry for yelling. I know you've been through some tough times, and whatever Chris did to you back in the swiffer sweeper can't have helped much. But it wasn't his fault, not really. You know that, but you still victimize him for it. That isn't exactly what you'd call fair," She sighed again, "I don't know why I even bother arguing with you. Nothing ever changes your mind."
Kyrainia shot a look over at Christo. "Please! Someone do shove me off the cliff! Then I won't have to put up with all of you!" She rolled her eyes. "And you, it's rather ironic that I'm now getting yelled at about, oh what was it, 'victimizing' Chris, or something like that, but I wasn't even saying a damn thing about the boy."
She studied Christo intently for a moment. "You're what? 10 years old, maybe? What the hell do you know?"
Taira dropped her jaw. "Well fine then...." She stood up and went over close to Ky and cocked her own head. "I wouldn't get cocky if I were you. All you have done is sit back feeling sorry for yourself and haven't even tried to do anything to help. Christo is right... and even if she is TEN. That girl has put more effort into saving us and this world. Now why don't you COOL OFF AND HELP!" And with that she did shove Kyrainia of the cliff. "And don't come back till Sayu does! Also, yes I was insane for a slight while.... GOT A PROBLEM!"
Damen decided to sit back and watch in shock.
Chris blinked in shock. How had such a trivial thing gotten so large? Suddenly, Kyrainia was pushed off the cliff. Chris jumped up and ran to the edge, just in time to see her start to swim off after yelling at Taira. He sighed and turned around. "Great. We're separated again. How could you do that, Taira?"
Kyrainia stayed under the water for a bit, in shock. She then swam up to the surface, raking her wet hair out of her face as she stared up at the top of the cliff. "Thanks, luv, appreciate that there! Right, 'cause we all know I haven't done a damn thing! Ignoring when I kept you from bleeding to death the first day we were here!" She called back. She turned, beginning to swim off a ways, before turning again. "And don't think for one second that I'm going to bother wasting my time coming back, either! Though I'm certainly sure you all don't want me there any more than I want to be there!" She dove under the water and continued to swim out, ignoring every emotion coursing through her. "Bloody hypocrite," she thought.
Kamika frowned as she looked around. They had just arrived and ANOTHER fight? Couldn't they ever just stop fighting every now and then? Especially when they were somewhat in trouble. . . She gave a sigh. "Is there any way we can get them back up the mountain or any way we can be able to get down to them without ALL of us getting wet?" She suggested, trying to see they could at least help.
Puttimon gave a nod from Kamika's arms. "Yup yup! That'd be a good thing to do!" The slightly hyperish bear exclaimed happily. Why it was hyper was beyond its own knowledge but that's beyond the point.
Taira blinked and backed away from the cliff. "She deserved it... Yeah she helped... But what else.. I was talking about the group... not myself... Not that I am unthankful, but damn I'm tired of her yelling about Chris and everyone else. True we all have our own problems... And I will stop now..." She just went over by Damen and sat down.
Damen was slightly scared and inched away. "She seems like a cooling off did her good. I know I don't know you all very well... I'll shut up now..."
Mushroomon watched as his partner swam away, obviously not planning on coming back. He turned and ran over to Taira. "You pushed my partner over a cliff!! And now she's gone and she's never gunna come back and it's ALL YOUR FAULT!!!! I WANT MY PARTNER!!!!" Mushroom jumped around a bit before starting to cry. "I want my partner!!"
Wollymon jumped backward from the cliff, scared. "That w-wasn't nice!" he whimpered, then turned and buried his face in a tuft of grass.
"Oh, bloody hell!" Thian unconsciously imitated Kyrainia. "We can't just let her SWIM AWAY!" He kicked off his shoes while untying his sweatshirt, and took a running dive into the water. "COME BACK HERE, YOU TWIT!!" He entered the water with a splash.
Mushroomon watched as Thian jumped into the water and started to swim away. "WAIT FOR ME, I'M COMING TOO!!!" He called, running towards the cliff.
Kyrainia had vaguely heard a splash far behind her as she came up for some air. "Well bloody hell..." she muttered, before ignoring it and continuing to swim away.
"Ya know, Taira, when I said about someone pushing her off the cliff, I didn't mean for you to actually do it." Christo said, looking glumly off the cliff. Her face suddenly lightened up.
"We need to cross anyway," she said, "I mean, we know what's in this direction--desert and more desert, then some forest. But if we get across, we might actually find the tropics Isthi-boy kept babbling on about. At least it's better than sitting around. Come on, Labra-chan."
Labramon digivolved and jumped in, Christo too, managing to land on Shiisamon's back.
"Come on!" she called up to the others.
Fiona looked cautiously at the water below. "I don't know..." she said. "It's awfully far down..."
Penguinmon, who wasn't really in the mood to argue with Fiona, sighed and pushed his human off the cliff. As soon as he heard the screaming stop and a large splash, he jumped in himself. By that time, Fiona was already treading water and looking very angry. "PENGUINMON! YOU COULD'VE KILLED ME!"
"Would you rather have been left behind?" he countered.
To this, Fiona had no reply. She turned around and continued angrily treading water.
Taira just looked at them all with an exasperated look of shock. "Oh, come on!" Then added, "She needed it! And are we just going to swim there. We all just got together and is it just me or is Sayu still trapped. She may be violent, but she is still part of the team!" Frantic that everyone was leaving she grabbed her Digivice and yelled Sayu's name into it.
Damen sat back and watched, shocked in his own perspective. Slowly he got up and looked over the cliff. "We are in the middles of a crisis... uh... Ky was it... After we get her out you can go your separate ways. But let me tell you all this. You won't survive unless you put all this behind you and work as a team. This is ridiculous..." Then, he went off and muttered to himself quietly about how foolish the new destined were. Also, about something involving this group wouldn't make it anyways.
Charles the Gomamon had one and crawled out of the hole and looked around for Sayu. "Crazy girl! I'm here! To save you! Give your hero a big kiss and I may take you back to the surface." Then he heard a slight yelling of Sayu's name. He called too, "Sayu!"
"You can't just RUN AWAY!" Isthian struck out after Kyrainia. "Come BACK here! You're gonna get eaten by a frog or a banana or whatever the heck lives here! And you'll DROWN! I never made any promises about what was across the sea! Just the desert! SO COME BACK HERE ALREADY!!"
Wollymon was too busy sobbing into the grass to notice any of this.
Mushroomon was going to jump down into the water when he stopped and realized something. He didn't know how to swim. Or did he? He didn't remember. He couldn't remember if he could swim or not. His head hurt just thinking about all of this. He jumped over to Wollymon, figuring that he'd just do whatever the other digimon did.
Kyrainia stopped swimming for a second and just began to tread water as she looked back over at Thian, who was still following her. "...oh yes, a bloody man eating banana is going to eat me! Oh no!" She rolled her eyes and dove back under the water.
Kamika looked on rather pleased SOMETHING was happening. She turned to Puttimon with a big smile on her face. "Let's join them, shall we?" She said as she ran off the cliff and into the water. Puttimon's eyes widened as the two suddenly dropped into the water. Kamika swam back up to the top. "Whee!! That was rather fun!" She exclaimed.
Puttimon, on the other hand, was shaking. The previous hyperness which the digimon once had disappeared and she was full of fear. "I. . . I. . . WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!" She exclaimed at her partner.
"Just wanted to finally help out around here instead of causing trouble!" The female responded. She started to swim along with the others who were done there. "So. . . where is Sayu again?" She asked.
Taira just looked over the cliff, "I'm not jumping in there. Sayu has already disappeared. No way! uh... uh..." Foxmon just blinked at her partner and shook her head.
"HEY!! IT COULD HAPPEN!" Isthian spun around in the water to shout back at the group. "Any of you gonna help me, or what?! We gotta try to cut her off!" He struck out strongly again.
Gizamon leapt into the room after the Gomamon. "SA - " He had attempted to jump into his Partner's arms. Instead, Sayu stepped aside so he crashed into a wall. "Ow," Gizamon said cheerfully, just glad to be back with Sayu. Sayu, on the other hand, was eyeing the two Gomamon suspiciously.
"Who the hell are you?" She demanded. She'd just found an odd old chest, and, along with some un-interesting paper-things she couldn't read anyway (yes, she was illiterate), she'd found this uber-spiffy dagger with nine jewels on the hilt, and each jewel had a weird marking on it. She'd recognized the marking inside the bronze jewel as the same one on her crest. Anyway, it was this dagger now that she held in her hand.
Gizamon sighed, and rolled his eyes. Yep, Sayu was alright if she could freely give out death threats. He looked about. Hm. Betamon wasn't around. Weird.
Chris sighed. Hadn't everyone gotten wet enough already? With a shrug, he pushed Teeg and the new kid in the water, jumped in after them, and clambered on Shiisamon. Tekumon also flew down to Shiisamon, and held on tight. Being mostly machine, it was only natural that he didn't like the water all that much. "So, where are these tropics everyone keeps talking about?"
Isthian sighed, turned backwards, and shouted. "Back across the desert, I keep saying that! Now are you guys gonna help cut her off or what?! You've got Digis that can swim! USE 'EM!!" He resumed swimming, and hoped that that would be the last interruption.
Kyrainia continued to swim away from them, wondering why on earth they were so adamant about cutting her off. Couldn't they just leave her the bloody hell alone?! Sheesh! She dove deeper under water to see if she could find some underwater cave or something. Sayu found something like that after all. Of course, she was farther out in the ocean, so that was unlikely, but still.
Chris sighed. "All right... shall we go after Kyrainia, then?" Of course, he had completely forgotten about poor Sayu trapped in that cave. Yeah, forgotten totally by accident. Right.
SPLASH! Taira fell into the water and it all went up her nose. Obviously she wasn't prepared for it and had no breath. She kicked, but the pressure caused her to blank out slightly. She only woke up slightly as a squeeze on her chest was put in order. She sputtered out the water and saw that Damen had grabbed her. As they floated there they both glared at Chris.
"Imma KILL HIM!" She said trying to swim at him. Damen kept his grip and they both went under the water from lack of balance.
"Calm down..." Damen said softly.
His digimon seemed to be in worse danger as Derik finally joined everyone. "We are here to save you! Just don't kill us!" They yelped at the same time.
Sayu glowered at the two Gomamon. "Alright, fine, save me then. But if you make me mad - mad at ALL..." She let the threat trail off. Gizamon came over, still worried about the fact that Betamon wasn't there, but since Sayu hadn't said anything, he must have gone out to do something.
"Okay, Sayu, hold on to one of my spikes. Once we're underwater, you two," He turned to the Gomamon. "Help her stay hanging on to me, and make sure she doesn't accidentally let go and drown or something. Ready? Here we go!"
"Wait! Underwater --- ?!" Sayu didn't have enough time to be indignant; seeing as how she was already holding one of Giza's spikes, he plunged right into the water.
Thian heard a commotion behind him, but ignored it. It sounded like more of his team had gotten into the ocean -- one way or another -- and for the current circumstances, that was nothing but good. The more people to find Kyrainia, the better. How they'd all get out later, he didn't know, and he was trying to ignore.
What he found he couldn't ignore, though, was a sudden and startling noise from his left. It took him a few moments to be sure he could hear it over the noise of his own swimming, but it was definitely there -- a deep growl coming from something he couldn't see. He paused for a moment, treading water, to be sure of what he heard. And that's when he felt the waves, underwater, buffeting at his legs. With surety born of instinct, and strength born of fear, he shouted out into the sea. "KYRA! WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE! FIONA! EVERYONE! LEAVE SAYU -- SHE'S SAFE! RUN!!"
With that, Isthian took a deep breath and dove under the water, knowing with cold panic that if he didn't find Kyrainia soon, she might never be found at all.
Metalseadramon had been waiting longer than he would have liked for his spy to get back to him with information on the Digidestined. So he was bored. Bored, bored, bored... Wait... his nose twitched (as much as a metal nose can twitch). He smelled human. He smelled his spy, too. Much too close together. What was Gizamon doing? Worthless Rookie. With that, the Mega Digimon took off swimming, his agitation growing as he grew closer. Then, what he saw made his eyes narrow in rage. Some of the Digidestined were in the water (for who-knew-what reason), but what caught his eye was Gizamon and two Gomamon saving a Digidestined's life. His roar of fury probably sounded like a growl, from how deep he was underwater. "Gizamon!" He hissed, speeding towards the little Digimon. "Traitor!"
Gizamon yelped, took a firmer hold on the struggling Sayu (who wasn't very happy about being in the water like this), and swam as fast as he could to the surface. As soon as he hit the air, he digivolved to Maildramon, and, with Sayu on his back, got as far above the water as he possibly could, Sayu cursing at him the whole time for getting her wet as she tried to get her hair, at least, to dry.
Metalseadramon, thoroughly disgusted, promised himself that he'd kill Gizamon and that pathetic human girl later, and turned his attention to the other Digidestined. Eyes darting around, he finally decided on the girl farthest from the others as a target, and began swimming towards Kyrainia.
As Shiisamon began swimming, Christo took out her diary, ripped out the pages written before she came to the digital world and threw them in the water. As they got closer to Kyrainia, a shiver ran down Christo's spine. She gasped, going rigid for a moment. Shiisamon looked up at her partner. "You felt it too." the digimon spoke.
Christo shuddered, "The sooner we get to Ky, the better. It's not safe out here."
Chris saw the water starting to get choppy, and blinked. "What is going on out here...?" He heard Isthian's yell, and saw him dive into the water. He immediately followed, taking a deep breath and jumping off Shiisamon. Once his eyes adjusted quickly, he followed Isthian's distinctive figure. He looked all around, but could not see Kyrainia anywhere.
Above water, still on Shiisamon's back, Tekumon was very worried. "Something's not right... I know there's something out there... otherwise, why would Maildramon have gotten out of the water so fast?"
Little did he know, his question was about to be answered...
Reacting to Isthian's shouting, Fiona scrambled onto Penguinmon. "Swim, Penguinmon!" she commanded! "You're faster than me!"
Penguinmon, however, floundered under the water. "I'm also smaller than you!" he sputtered, popping up for a second and then sinking down again.
Isthian strained his eyes and swung his head steadily back and forth to search. She had to be there! After a few desperate seconds, his efforts were rewarded by a flash of red. He struck back to the surface and swam as hard as he ever had in his life. Several times, Kyrainia surfaced, once glancing back over her shoulder and biting off what seemed like a curse. Finally, he could see the bright colors of her outfit just ahead, gulped a breath, and dove. As he caught her hand, he looked into her face, illuminated by an eerie green glow.
Kamika spurted in the water. She started to swim towards all that were there. "Is everything going to be all right?" She asked worried.
Puttimon, who had moved to sitting on top of Kamika's head, nodded confidently. "We will be! There's no chance of us losing. . . Er. . Besides the fact that evil may be coming in any minute. . . But beyond that! Oh and the fact that it's hard for me to fight in water. Or also some of the other digimon as well." She smiled brightly despite her words.
"You know. . . That was a MAJOR boost in confidence." Kamika said sarcastically to her bear digimon.
With a smirk this time, Puttimon remarked. "I aim to please!"
Kamika just rolled her eyes as she looked around to see what she could do or what was going on.
Kyrainia looked at Thian glaring at him for having the nerve to touch her when she suddenly felt very very uneasy. She looked behind her slowly.
Kyrainia's glare was fairly expected. Her turning away with that haunting look on her face was not. One quick glance at the gleaming figure heading straight for the both of them was all Thian needed to be sure that here was exactly where he didn't want to be. He turned his back on MetalSeadramon and started swimming towards shore, angling up to the surface as he did so. He pulled Kyrainia along with himself, but didn't waste any time signaling her to swim -- either she'd figure it out on her own or she'd be too scared to anyway, and he wasn't patient enough to give her time to think it over.
Wollymon gave a startled chirrup. "Did you feel that?" he whimpered to Mushroomon, who was still beside him. "I think something's happening with Thian!"
Kamika turned around to get a good view. "Geez. . Something tells me that we SHOULD be heading out of the water. . ."
With a snort and a sarcastic retort, Puttimon spoke. "Gee. . . I wonder what gave you THAT clue."
"Could be that a couple of us are swimming back to shore." Kamika replied back with a cheery grin.
Puttimon shook her head. "Perhaps we should join them?"
Kamika shook her head as well, almost flinging the bear digimon flying. "Let's check if everyone's present first. ." She said, starting to swim towards the nearest person.
"Er. . Whatever you wish, I guess. ." Puttimon said hesitantly.
Kyrainia yanked herself away from Thian, regaining her senses as she pushed the crushing emotion that is fear down to the bottom depths of her mind. She did what everyone else would do in her situation: she swam. Fast.
Mushroomon looked at Wollymon. "...I felt something too! Ky!! I think something might be wrong with Ky!!" he cried.
Maildramon watched anxiously from the air, as the dark shadow underwater moved ever closer to Kyrainia. Sayu watched as well, a semi-bored look on her face.
Metalseadramon, feeling he was close enough to his prey to attack, suddenly reared out of the water, his cannon of a nose beginning to draw in energy. "River of Power!" And he shot the beam straight at the desperately-swimming Digidestined.
"KYRAINIA!!!" Christo yelled, seeing MetalSeadramon attack the other girl. She didn't know what to do. She couldn't get too close without risking her own life--and Shiisamon couldn't attack with her on her back--but she couldn't let Kyrainia die! It was partly her fault that Kyrainia had been pushed in anyway. She pushed herself off her digimon's back and into the water--luckily, she could swim quite well.
"What are you doing! Get back on!" Shiisamon ordered her.
"You can't fight carrying me!" she responded, treading water, "We need to be ready to help!"
Isthian cursed to himself. Why wasn't anybody else doing what he'd told them to? Sparing only a single, quick breath, he shouted, "RUN!"
On the upshot, Kyrainia was swimming strongly beside him, and being able to use both hands was a definite advantage. He didn't waste any time keeping track of her -- she was more than capable of taking care of herself, and getting caught wasn't going to do either of them any good. He concentrated on fleeing the demon behind them.
Chris had been following along, trying to keep pace with Isthian and Kyrainia. When Metalseadramon attacked them, his only thought was to swim faster. Of course, he now didn't even notice the huge beam of light headed for the group...
Tekumon, meanwhile, was still clutching on to Shiisamon's hair for dear life. Too drained to digivolve, he could only watch as the energy wave headed for his partner...
Isthian continued swimming, completely oblivious to what was happening behind him. After all, how was looking over his shoulder going to get him to shore faster? And that was what he was concerned with.
Taira saw the large creature emerge from the water and almost fainted from shock. Instead she freaked out and started yell, "GET ME OUT OF THE WATER I WANT OUT OF THE WATER EVERYONE OUT OF THE WATER!" She said this in one long sentence with out breathing. Still yelling for people to get out of the water she started to try and scrabble up the hill. Damen just stood there floating. His Digimon came up next to him and watched. Taira wasn't paying attention and was as quickly, which is not that quickly, to get up the hard cliff.
Damen was grinning oddly as he watched all this. "We should seriously do something to help, though the way they are all reaction to danger is just the same as the last group. Charles take note of this..." Charles nodded and watched with a disturbingly serious face. Then Damen decided something, "Then again I can't let them destroy these kids before I get a chance to study them and get me to Earth..."
Derik looked over to him. "I can't digivolve yet... I don't know how... You only had Charles..."
Damen cocked his head, "Well, time to learn then is it not?"
Unfortunately for Thian, his plan of speeding along and not worrying about the others had a major drawback -- it meant that he couldn't dodge. And so, he was struck in the side by MetalSeadramon's attack. Fortunately for him, MetalSeadramon must not have been aiming for him in particular, or he had been moving faster than expected, because it was only a glancing blow. However, the "unfortunately" part outweighed that quite a fair bit, and Isthian shouted wordlessly into the water, then fell limp, unconscious.
Christo grabbed at Isthian's arm as he began to sink and began swimming with him towards the shore. Unfortunately, he was heavier than she was and slowed her down considerably. She swum as fast as she could, praying that MetalSeadramon didn't launch another attack.
Fiona tried to keep an eye out for Isthian, which was a hard thing to do with everything going on. When she finally did find him, he was being dragged to the shore by Christo. "Oh, no," she said to herself, and motioned to Penguinmon. She swam as fast as she could over to him and took his other arm. "Lemme help you with him," she said to Christo, and began swimming fast towards the shore.
Unfortunately, while the attack from MetalSeadramon had hit Isthian, the full force of it was headed straight for Chris. A lucky coincidence ensued, however, and Chris was simply blown out of the water, not deleted straight off. "AIEEEEEEEEEEE*splash*" Chris landed about ten yards in front of Isthian and Christo, smoking slightly.
Sayu continued to yell very... exotic curses at Maildramon as he deposited her on the cliff next to Damen. Not like Sayu remembered what she was mad at him about, but she was still pretty pissed off 'cause she was wet. And Wet!Sayu = Angry!Sayu.
Metalseadramon, meanwhile, was still rather enraged himself. Humans! Bah! Annoying little creatures. He dove underwater, and swam at the 'Destined, shooting out another River of Power attack while he grumbled to himself.
"Stupid Gizamon. He not only fails a very easy mission, but he joins the enemy, too! Argh! Stupid incompetent..." And so on and so forth.
Wollymon squealed in horror when he saw the condition Isthian was in. "THIII!! Are you alright?!" He squashed himself flat on the ground, distraught, as Thian remained unconscious.
As Chris shakily started swimming again (now well ahead of the group), he noticed the water beginning to grow hot and glow underneath them...
"GUYS! BE CAREFUL!" cried Wollymon in distress. "You've gotta get out of there!!" He turned desperately to Mushroomon. "Can't you do anything?! Isthian's unconscious... I can't digivolve! But Kyrainia looks alright! Please!! You've got to do something to help!!" Tears streamed down Wollymon's face.
