EDUCATION DOES WORK!

An excellent way to fight circus cruelty is EDUCATION. By educating others, people will start going only to animal-free circuses and eventually big name circuses may realize they no longer need animals.

It is extremely important to tell everyone you know the truth about circus animals.

It is also recommended to call your local schools and organizations and give presentations on the subject. To get started, call your local high school and ask for a teacher who does community type service projects. If there is none, or even if there is, then tell them you would like to come and do a presentation on animals, particularly endangered species. This will get your foot in the door. If you feel you need help with this, simply follow the guide below and if you still have questions please feel free to email us for help at volunteers4circusanimals@yahoo.com

High school kids are old enough to see graphic videos which can be obtained with a donation as small as $5 by emailing info@peta.org. PETA also supplies materials for your presentations.

Information can be READ to the students rather than being rehearsed as a speech. Kids don't mind if you read to them. Read them stories, show photos, read petitions, hold question and answer/discussion time. Give them links to check out on the web. Educate them about the USDA, the Animal Welfare Act and the USFWS and the Endangered Species Act. Ask them to write letters to their legislatures and government leaders.

Not only is it very important to educate kids, but is very satisfying, which you will experience after speaking with kids and other groups.
