FAQ

Well, the Flaming Moonies have taken it upon themselves to make up their own theories as to why I made this site, and to take them as being the truth.

Here are some theories others have made up;

  • I am a jerk and like making people mad so they'll flame me.
  • I hate Sailor Moon fans with all my heart and soul.
  • I want to make everybody hate Sailor Moon
  • I want Sailor Moon taken off TV.
  • I am a gay male and don't appreciate sexy 14-year-olds.
  • I'm anti-Japanese culture.
  • I have no life, and therefore nothing better to do.
  • I'm trying to show off.
  • I'm a Satanist.
  • I'm just totally stupid and insane. Get up. Bump into wall. Hit self on head. Write HTML.

Interestingly enough, none of them are true. The real reason?

It's fun! I like poking fun at things. I like making websites. I don't like Sailor Moon. BAM! There you have it. The perfect combination of the three, an anti-Sailor Moon site! Simple as that, I like doing it.

While I'm at it, I might as well clear up some other misconceptions about me...

  • I'm gay:
Actually, I'm a girl. Yes, a real one.

  • I spend all my time on this website:
Actually, I spend, at most, about ten minutes a week on site-related matters, only to answer e-mails. Except, of course, when I'm making a new section. But normally I'm not doing anything at all on this site. I only make a new section when I feel like it.

  • I hate Japanese culture:
Okay, so Japan isn't my favourite country, and they have some dumb customs, but I'm not against it or anything.

  • I'm stupid:
After the school IQ test that everybody gets, I was placed into the category of "gifted." That means my IQ is at least 130, which means within at least the top 2% of the population. I'm not sure because they don't give kids specific IQ scores. (I suppose since they've already called certain kids "gifted," they don't want any of those kids to be ranked higher than the other gifted kids... That's my theory. The school works in mysterious ways...)

  • I'm a boy:
Okay, I already said I was a girl...

  • I'm old and should "know better" than to do whatever "awful" thing I'm doing:
I'm only 15 years old. And there's nothing wrong with voicing my opinion, having fun, and making an anti-site.

And also while I'm at it, I think I'll attempt to shoot down some Moonie arguments I keep getting...

  • I've only seen the dubbed Sailor Moon, the subtitled is way better:
I've seen some of the subtitled series. It's pretty much just dubbed-SM with lesbians.
Yes, I know there are more differences. But they're teeny-weeny. Like, for example, Zoicite's being a guy (as opposed to a girl in the dubbed version) doesn't make it a good show. Serena having a somewhat nicer voice doesn't make it a good show. And, of course, lesbians don't make it a good show. Nobody has given me any good, solid reason why the subbed is better anyways. As far as I can tell, it's just not.

Now, the other day, I was thinking "why would people like the subtitled version better if it's pretty much the same?" Yes, it IS pretty much the same. The reason I came up with is this: They like it just because it's subtitled. These people pretty much like anything just for being "Japanese." Trust me, I've been there. I was a very big anime fan for a while (like a year), and yes, I DID preffer subtitles. And I realise now that my head's cleared that the reason I liked them WAS just because they were the (bum bum-bum buuum...) ORIGINAL, JAPANESE ones!
I'm not kidding. If you preffer subtitled Sailor Moon, ask yourself this: "What country would I most like to visit?" If the answer is Japan, there ya' go, point made.

  • I should spend my time on something more "positive:"
What's wrong with being negative? It's more fun. And fun is positive...
I mean, honestly, tell me why I should spend my time on a happy site instead of a negative one, when making a negative one is more fun, creative, original, satisfying, liberating, everything?

  • You are a freak for hating stuff!
Oh yeah, like everyone's supposed to go around loving everything and hugging their TV sets...

  • I'm hurting people's feelings with this website:
If people are that sensitive, they shouldn't be browsing the internet. They need a "Net-Nanny" or whatever it's called. Or perhaps they need an intelligent, responsible person to constantly look over their shoulder and tell them which websites they shouldn't go to before they do something dumb like enter an anti-site.

  • It's really spelled "Seera Muun:"
Oh boy, I've had to explain why this is silly SO many times... Hopefully, this'll be the last...

Now, pretty much the SAME THING goes for writing "Sailor Senshi" instead of "Scouts," writing "Ami" instead of "Amy," using Japanese words like "Konichiwa" and "Arigato" in place of English words, etc...

    • Now, the original Japanese title is spelled using phonetic Japanese characters which come as close as possible to sounding like "Sailor Moon."

    • They don't use the "l" sound much, instead, they replace it with "r."

    • When they say the title, it sounds like "Seera Muun" because Japanese-speakers have a hard time pronouncing English words. Japanese people who are very fluent in English but also know Japanese (like the children of Japanese immigrants) pronounce it "Sailor Moon."

    • "Muun" and "moon" are pronounced the same, except "muun" suggests more stress on the "oo" sound, and therefore more of a Japanese accent. Saying (out loud) "Seera Muun" is like saying "Sailor Moon" with a Japanese accent. Strong Japanese accents come from not knowing English very well. I'm not sure why anyone would want to pretend not to speak English... but more on that idea later.

    • Whenever Japanese people (like, for example, the people who make collector's cards and other merchandise on which the title is translated) write the title using roman characters, they spell it "Sailor Moon." (or "Sailormoon," but never, EVER "Seera Muun")

    • When hard-core-bordering-on-obsessive anime/SM fans write it, they spell it "Seera Muun."

    • Now, if you have the ability to spell it properly (that is, you're using the roman alphabet, writing in the language that the words have been taken from), why would you spell it wrong?
(And don't say "because it's the 'real' title!" The real title, Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, uses ENGLISH words. This is how you spell those ENGLISH words; "Sailor" and "Moon.")

    • Why, the fans spell it wrong for the same reason people use words like "arigato" instead of thanks, and "ja na" instead of "later." They want to sound Japanese, pretend to be Japanese, feel Japanese, etc.

    • This is obsessive, and furthermore, it sounds really dumb to non-fans, or non-obsessive fans.

    • Have you ever seen (huge!) groups of Japanese tourists dressed in cowboy costumes to look "American?" Looks silly, eh? This is just the same as spelling "Sailor Moon" like "Seera Muun."

    • Spell it right, sound intelligent, stop impersonating a "Japanese" person. (though of course, as I said, real Japanese people always spell it in proper English)

  • It's not a kiddie show! It's not! It's not!:
Then what's with all the six-year-olds watching it?
In Japan? Well, I haven't been to Japan, but I've been to Hong Kong. Apparently the anime scene there is just like Japan's. And in Hong Kong it is also a kiddie show. Sailor Moon isn't popular at all anymore, but I still found some Sailor Moon stuff around. Things like colouring books, small pink plastic knapsacks, etc. Kid's stuff.

  • If you REALLY hated Sailor Moon, you wouldn't have spent so much time on this anti-site!
Can anyone here understand the concept of "fun?" And anti-site is fun to make, in the same sorta way that it's fun to run around in the middle of the night making crop circles in the schoolyard. Ya'know... Fun!

  • If you hate Sailor Moon so much, how do you know so much about it, eh? eh?
Aaaargh! So many people have said this, if I hear that question one more time I think I'm gonna pop! EX-FAN. I am an EX-FAN. That means I used to like it and used to watch the show. Just because I don't like it anymore doesn't mean that I've spontaneously forgotten everything about it!

  • Gundam Wing sucks! Ha! DBZ sucks! Double HA! Ha HA!
I don't care what other people think of the stuff I like, and neither should you!

  • I can't even read your page because of those backgrounds!
Interestingly enough, everybody who's said this (only 3 people, btw) admits to seeing only one background on the page in question. Now, every page should have at least two backgrounds. There should be a lighter-coloured background under the text. In some cases, there are even three backgrounds. Again, the lightest one with the lowest contrast is under the text. If the second background doesn't load for whatever reason, you will definitely have a hard time reading anything (select text with the cursor to read it easier!).
This isn't my fault. :P Usually I tell it to make the background under the text just plain white if the image doesn't show up, but that doesn't work in Netscape and old IEs. In those ones it only shows the dark background...

Now, I know some angry Moonie looking for something to whine about is gonna complain that they can't read anything with both backgrounds there. Well, *I* can read everything fine, and so can my sister. Get your eyes checked for colour blindness or something.

  • Nobody CARES what you think of Sailor Moon!
Then stop reading. Leave immediately. Destroy all records in you "history" folder. Pretend this website never existed, which should be easy, seeing as you don't care...

  • Whaddya mean Naoko-darling's art is ugly? YOU CAN'T DRAW ANY BETTER!
    Two reasons this is dumb.
    1. Says who? You really can't assume something like that until you've seen a recent drawing of mine. Poo doesn't count!
    2. I am not expected to draw better than Naoko, because I am not a paid, published, proffesional artist. It is only fair to compare her to other proffesional artists. And, in comparison to other proffesional manga artists, her art is ugly.

  • Serena's not evil because she calls her dad "dad," everybody does!
Here are a couple new words for you to look up in the dictionary:
    joke
    exaggeration

  • You're little overview of a subbed episode is biased since you already hate Sailor Moon!
And if a fan watched that episode, it would be just as biased since they love Sailor Moon, or maybe even more so since their vision is clouded by all that lovin'...

  • Pokémon [or some other series] sucks! Why isn't it on your unacceptable list?
Maybe because I don't hate it so much that I think it merits a spot on my personal unacceptable list.

  • You're Hurting Naoko's Feelings!
Naoko can't read English as far as I know. And it's not like she'd ever come across this site, unless she was looking for anti Sailor Moon sites, the little masochist! If she was she'd find more sites than just mine.

  • How would YOU feel if you made a comic and someone made fun of it like this?
Not bad at all if it was already as famous and generally well-liked as Sailor Moon. Besides, people make fun of ME for this site all the time, and I don't care or else I wouldn't have MADE an anti-site.

  • It's just a cartoon, you're taking it too seriously!
It's a cartoon that's meant to be serious most of the time. On the other hand, this SITE is a joke, genius...

  • I'm gonna get this site shut down!
    No, you're not.
Even if, by some strange happening, the site DOES get shut down, I'll just post it again. There should be no problem with me hosting this site on any server, since it's entirely original content (ie nothing illegal). If a site is offending, it STILL can't be removed. That's unconstitutional.

Well, enough of that for now... Future misconceptions will be cleared up here!
