Project Gemini, Step 22 I guess this would be the epilogue. Hey look! Step 22, Gemini, 22, Gemini, twins! Do you get it? Anyway, this is where I keep my promise. Here are some words that I used in this chapter.

Onegai - I figure it means "please"

Arigato - "thank you"

Hai - something like "right" or "yes"

Ja - something like "later" or "bye"

Gomen - "sorry"

Project Gemini

Step 22: Resurrection

"Hey Tai! Can I come over to your house to check on Biyo? My computer's down and the Internet won't work for a week. Onegai?" Sora pleaded as she raced along the sidewalk to catch up with her friend. Tai turned and watched Sora walk up to him, and then replied.

"Sure, why not?" he said with his eyes closed and his head bobbing up and down like a penguin. Sora stifled a giggle and smiled.

"Arigato. Are we going to pick up Kari now?" she asked.

"Hai." They walked down the street for a while, as the other kids ran or bicycled home past the stores. Tai and Sora walked next to each other, each wrapped in their own thoughts. Finally, Tai couldn't hold it in any longer, and turned to his companion. "Sora, do you remember anything that happened last week?" he abruptly asked. Sora stared at him, as if surprised. She shook her head slowly.

"I was going to ask you the same thing. It's so strange. I don't remember a bit of what happened. It's like we skipped time or something like that." Tai nodded, shrugged and continued walking. Sora asked the next question. "Do you think that the others forgot too? Maybe it's just a coincidence that we don't remember. Maybe it's just us." She reasoned, not quite believing herself. Tai shrugged again.

"There's only one way to find out. That's Kari's school." Tai said as he pointed to a building a block away, where kids ranging from twelve-year-olds to 16-year-olds were streaming out into their parents' cars. "T.K.'s bound to be there too." Sora nodded. As they both got closer to the entrance, they saw four thirteen-year-olds talking together in their school uniforms. Tai and Sora knew Kari and T.K., but they had no idea who the other two where. As they got closer, they saw it was a boy and a girl, identical twins, with light blue, and dark blue hair. Tai smiled. "Hi, Kari, who's your friends?" Kari smiled back and introduced them.

"This is Rei, and this is Ran. We've been friends for a while, only you haven't met yet."

"We haven't?" Sora asked, staring at the two closely. They seemed so familiar…too familiar. They stared back at the elder digidestined, as if they were sensing the same thing. Kari didn't notice. She went on to introduce her bigger brother and his friend.

"And this is…"

"Tai and Sora." Ran interrupted, staring back straight at them. Now all of the present digidestined were surprised and the abruptness and correctness of their reply. How did they know their names? How come their faces were so familiar? How come they seem to be thinking the same thing? Have we me before? I never saw you when I was a child, I'm sure of that, but then where have I met you? Perhaps in a dream, I met you? Kari and T.K. suddenly seemed to sense the same feeling, as if they had met their friends not only on Earth. But other than Earth…there was no where else…except…

"Rei, Ran, why don't you come with us? I have some other people I'd like you to meet." Rei and Ran immediately nodded. T.K. led the way. "I'm going to the hospital first, to check up on Matt."

"When did he get into the hospital?" Tai asked. T.K. remained silent for a while, then replied.

"Actually…I don't know. I don't remember." He said, forcing a small chuckle. He felt their stares on him. Both Sora and Tai were slowly concluding that maybe the rest of the digidestined didn't remember anything either, as if something had happened. Or perhaps, it wasn't only them… what was this feeling of familiarity? Sora turned to the twins in back of her, carrying their books and looking around. They immediately looked at her pleading face.

"This might seem like a funny question, but do you remember what happened to you last week?" Both Rei and Ran slowed their pace and looked at each other. Ran shook his head.

"We don't remember. That's why we found it funny that T.K. and Kari didn't remember either." Rei answered. Kari turned around and stopped walking, as did T.K.

"Tai…do you notice something strange? Maybe everybody forgot what happened last week." Kari asked.

"Probably not everybody." Tai answered. "Look. There's the hospital. Let's go see if Matt has forgotten what happened." As they walked into the hospital room, they saw their friends, all of them, and Matt sitting up in the bed with a bandage around his forehead. The ones already in the room turned to them. Izzy had a confused look on his face. Joe seemed worried.

"Guys! What are you doing here?" Kari asked. T.K. ran over to his brother, who hugged him in return. Izzy shrugged. Joe replied.

"We just thought that we would meet you here. And we wanted to visit Matt. It's like strange, but something told us to meet you." He stared at the two twins. "Who…are they?" Rei and Ran were about to introduce themselves, but Sora covered their mouths.

"Guess." She replied. Joe looked quizzically at her for a moment, then stared back at the two.

"Rei and Ran." Mimi cut in. Both Joe and Matt stared at her. Izzy shut his laptop. "Their names are Rei and Ran, aren't they?" The two nodded silently, and stared at him. Ran pointed.

"And your names are Joe and Izzy." Now it was their turn to be surprised. They nodded suspiciously, and got up. A moment of silence came over the room, as they stared at each other, trying to remember something they forgot. What exactly had happened last week? Why couldn't they remember? Izzy knew that none of the digidestined remembered, but who were these two that seemed so familiar, even to the extent that he knew their names without meeting them before? Or had he? Perhaps not on Earth…but then that only left…the…Digiworld. He snapped open his laptop, while everyone turned to him. While they gathered around him, they saw on the screen a living and peaceful Digiworld, with Tentomon, who just turned.

"Hey Izzy? How are things going?" he asked innocently. Izzy stared at him, then responded shakily.

"Hey Tentomon, just wanted to say hi…I gotta go now. Ja!" he said as he stopped the connection and looked up into the baffled faces of the others in the room. They were thinking the same thing. Then, the door opened, and a blond thirteen-year-old with blue eyes and a blue band around his forehead walked in. He glanced at the group and shrugged.

"Oops wrong room, gomen." He said, starting to close the door and walk in. Halfway in his tracks he stopped, and slowly turned his head to stare at them. Another boy identical to this one walked in by his side and froze. Then, a voice inside Rei talked, much to her surprise.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Arigato, Rei. You helped us save the digiworld.
What did I do? I don't remember. Who are you?
The Gemini, Rei. I won't cry anymore, thanks to you. You helped get the digidestined back home.
So our purpose wasn't to destroy the Amoral?
That you did as well, and the Digidestined. You created Guilt, the greatest of all weapons, which sliced through the enemy in no time. You made them destroy themselves.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And then it said no more, but with those few words, Rei suddenly remembered. Ran seemed to have had a message of his own, and his eyes clouded, then cleared as he smiled. The digidestined stared the two, obviously confused, and probably they didn't remember yet. And as the twins smiled back, their eyes clouded, and then unclouded, as they too regained flashbacks of the week before, some that they knew, and some that they never heard, said by someone else.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our poor digimon…
And we are the Gemini…
We are your enemy…
I can't do this, aniki…
Maybe the fire is colored, because it comes from our world…
Punishment…
Please Matt, no…
We don't get everything we want…
Leave me alone…
We will meet in heaven, aniki…
This is see you later…
You better not try anything…
Gomen nasai…
The war is over, we have won…
And then, the girls broke down crying, and the boys bit their lip to hold back the tears, and the Gemini, they stood there, staring at the two twins in the doorway. And she stared into the eyes of both of them. And she saw the guilt still lingering inside, and she knew they remembered as well, when the first one had stopped closing the door and looked back regretfully. And T.K. ran up to them, and smiled. "I forgive you, Shun and Kou."
