In June of 2003, Dorchester High School will usher out its last class of graduating seniors. By September, Dorchester High School will be no more, and in its place will be the Dorchester Education Complex.

The Dorchester Education Complex will be housed in the Dorchester High School building at 9 Peacevale, but will be made up of 3 seperate high schools being housed in the same building.

Those three schools, The Academy of Public Service, The Economics and Business Academy, and TechBoston Academy will each have their own floor in the building, autonomous staff, and function under their own Headmasters. Each Academy is intended to have a 300 student capacity, though TechBoston, which will only be in its second year as a Pilot School, will only have half of their intended student population in residence.

Two of the high schools, The Academy of Public Service and The Economics and Business Academy, are actually an extension of two programs already established at Dorchester High School.

The Academy of Public Service was established in 1991 for motivated Dorchester High School students, in order to introduce them to public and community service careers and provide opportunities for personal and academic achievement. Their motto is, "reach up, reach out, give back", and they place a strong emphasis on pursuing higher education and post-secondary training. 93% of APS students have gained entrance to a college, university, technical school or post-secondary volunteer service experience.

The Economics and Business Academy encourages students to develop an understanding of what it takes to be successful in business. The program prepares students for college while teaching them the skills and concepts required to be successful in the business world. Each year the students will study personal finance, marketing or economics culminating in a signature project. The program includes trips to business sites, support in getting summer and after-school jobs, job shadowing programs, assistance with the college application process and financial aid, and college tours.
