As an individual you can help out and stop hunger in Washington state. There are many ways to accomplish this goal. These include: - Do not waste food. For example, do not throw away food that you have already half eaten, or partially consumed. Rather than wasting it, try to save it for later. - Donate food to food banks when the opportunity arises. This does not require you donate huge amounts of food. Rather, try to donate the food that you might not eat so that those in need can put to good use. - Volunteering your services for the needy is a great way to help out. Consider volunteering at your local food bank/distribution organization. Such organizations include Northwest Harvest and World Visions. - Educating others about hunger is a great way to help out. Hopefully, by stressing the importance of helping the hungry in Washington state you can get them to donate food or volunteer at food banks as well. A great place to start educating is with your family and close friends. - Write letters to important people in your community such as senators and congressmen. These people have the potential to greatly help the needy community. By letting them know how they can change their policies to help the hungry or even just by reminding them of the situation of hunger in washington, you can lend a helping hand. |
