FFX Walkthrough
Tidus
"Every story must have
an ending..."
Hello, and welcome to my Final
Fantasy X walkthrough page!
This section is simply for managing your way through the game, check
my other pages for help on sidequests, etc.
Please remember, I copyright everything in here. Don't steal!
Also, note that this walkthrough is for the US version only.
Lastly, I hope you like this game as much as I do! Okay, let's begin:
The Beginning
After the opening clip, Tidus, the
main character, will start out in his home. Walk over to the crowd
and talk to the little boys on the left. Name yourself. Then talk
to the girls on the right. Move over to the center and the boys will
approach. After a clip, an announcer will start talking about Jecht.
Walk down the road. A crowd will surround you. Make your way to the
door.
Here, a really cool clip is played.
A strange man dressed in red will be standing on the edge of a
building. Who is he? Meanwhile, Tidus is playing blitzball. You might
notice that some of the buildings start to fall for some reason. Eventually
he notices too. But why are they falling?
You'll stand up. Go down the walkway.
Auron will be waiting. Follow him. A few clips will be played and
he'll give you a sword. Welcome to you first battle.
If you've played other FFs then
you'll see there isn't a bar which you must wait to fill up before
attacking. Anyways, Attack with the X button, then select which one
you want to attack. You and Auron will move forward. Now it's Auron's
turn. Press Attack again. Do the same with Tidus.
You'll run up again, this time with
some attacking you from behind. ONLY attack the ones in front of
you. Now you'll meet a mini-boss. Here you will see a small tidbit
on overdrives. Press the left directional and X. For Auron, you must
press the buttons in order according to what it says on the screen.
After that, it's Tidus' turn. After the sinspawn attack, Tidus will go
again with his overdrive up. In his overdrives you must press X when
the arrow moving across the screen is in the gray area. Attack him until
he's dead, DO NOT use items.
After defeating him, follow Auron.
To your right you should see a blue sphere thing. As you might have
guessed, this is a save point (it also fully restores your health,
unlike other FF games!) Save, then continue up the road.
In the next battle a whole bunch
of sinscale will come out. Start to attack. Soon one of them will
start to flicker its wings. ATTACK THAT ONE. Anyways, Auron will notice
a tanker to the side and ask that you knock it down. Have Auron attack
it and let Tidus take care of the sinspawn. Soon it'll fall down, exploding.
After a cool clip Tidus will be
floating in water. Press O and swim to the left. He'll see a small
boy, then wake up in some ruins. Swim towards the building (or, in
the small map on the top left of the screen, where the red arrow is
pointing).
Continue down until you can stand.
There will be a save point. Go up and turn left if you wish to have
a hi-potion. Then go straight. Something will knock you into the water.
Press O to swim down and head left. You'll encounter some fish. Just
keep attacking them. After two are down a reeaallly big fish will come
out and bite into one. This guys loves cutting your HP in half. However,
because of this, he can't actually kill you. Just keep attacking. Soon
Tidus will decide to run away, and after a short clip of him narrowly
escaping, you are now stuck in this cold area.
Go up the stairs, and towards the
center of the room. The remains of a fire will be there. The flint
and tinder are in the following locations:
Flint: Examine
the room by the save point.
Tinder:
From the center of the room head up and to the right into a room.
Go up the stairs and examine the vase.
Head back to the center of the room
and start a fire. After a clip you'll face a monster. Attack it.
Suddenly a group of people will appear. The girl will help you
fight. Use her grenades to beat him. With her you can also steal
grenades. He's easy to beat after that.
After the fight you'll talk to them.
They don't actually speak your language. More clips will come and
you'll notice they decide to take you with them. Save, then talk to
the girl. She'll teach you how to use the sphere grid (the main level
up system in this game). For the tutorial on this look in that section
of my site.
Back on the boat, talk to the girl.
Once in the water, press O and follow the chain down. After you're
inside, go straight and examine the computer screen. It will lead
you to another room. Follow the girl and examine the other machine.
You'll encounter some fish. Be sure to steal a few grenades before
killing them. Now head back. On your way you'll encounter a boss.
Boss 1: Tros
This is the time to use your grenades.
Have the girl use/steal and Tidus attack. Both can heal. It's not
a bad idea to make Tidus do Cheer either. After a few hits Tros will
move to the side. Here is where you learn about trigger commands. Press
the left directional button, then "Stand By" which will cause you to
heal. Tros will attack now, so it's a good idea to use a potion or two
after. Then continue to do what you did before. Then he'll move again.
Use the trigger command, but this time "Pincer Attack." Now just continue
with what you've been doing. Done!
After he's defeated just follow
the girl. You'll notice a strange machine down at the bottom. What
is it? After a clip you'll learn that the girl's name is Rikku.
Then you'll learn that Zanarkand was destroyed 1000 years ago. Talk
to her again. After a brief conversation, she'll leave and go inside
the ship. Then, Sin will appear and attack. After some confusion Tidus
will fall off the ship and into the water.
Besaid
Tidus will wake up on a shore. A
red-haired person nearby will hit him with a blitzball. Swim to the
shore. After the clip follow Wakka. He'll shove you in the water below.
Swim down the lake and watch another clip. After that walk down the
hill.
Now you'll be in a village (Besaid
Village). Wakka will ask you if you remember the prayer. Choose
either option, the outcome is the same. Now head to the back of town
and go into the temple. Walk to the other end of the room. After the
clip head out again. Go to the hut on the left and learn about the crusaders.
Now go to the middle hut to the right, talk to Wakka, and take a nap.
A man will enter the temple, and after talking to him Wakka will leave.
When you wake up head to the temple
and talk to Wakka. After a clip you'll enter into the trial. First,
go to the other end of the room and touch the glyph. Now go to the
right side and touch that glyph. Head down the stairs and approach
the glyph nearby. It will tell you about spheres. Now that you're holding
a sphere head straight and turn. Put the glyph sphere in the door, then
take it out. From the door turn down the hallway. Insert the sphere into
the wall. The wall will lift up, revealing a Destruction Sphere. Don't
take it yet. Continue down the hall. To your right, touch the symbols.
It will reveal a Besaid Sphere. Put it into the pedestal to the left. Tidus
will start to move it. Leave the pedestal for now. Head back to the Destruction
Sphere. Take it, then insert it into the place you found the Besaid Sphere.
A wall will explode. Take the treasure from within. Now head back to
the pedestal. Move it forward.
Here you'll meet everyone else;
Lulu, Kimahri, and Yuna. Walk outside and to the center of the
town. This is where you'll see Yuna's first summoning. Name your
aeon (known as Valefor).
Now it'll switch over to night.
Head over to Yuna and talk to her. After the conversation Wakka
will ask you something. You're given two choices--watch what happens.
Talk to Wakka and head for bed after that.
In your dream walk to the left and
talk to Yuna. After a few clips, save. Then go outside and talk to
Wakka, Lulu, and Yuna. You will now start your journey. Walk a ways
out of the village. Soon you will come to a mandatory battle. Attack
the dingo with your new sword. A condor will appear. Have Wakka attack
this one. After the battle, walk more and another fiend will come, this
time a water flan. Tidus will try to kill it, but only magic will work
against these guys. Lulu will come out. Use thunder against it.
After that battle continue to walk.
A clip will play, then save. You will be asked to either pray or
just watch. I'm not sure if it matters what you choose--I don't think
it does.
Head up the path. Here you will
duel against Kimahri. Just keep attacking him. A clip will be played,
explaining who he is. After that, you'll run into a Garuda. Have Yuna
call forth Valefor. Use whatever you wish to win--I personally just
keep on attacking. Most likely Valefor will get his overdrive up. Save
it for later.
ANOTHER mandatory battle will occur
further down. Wakka will use his dark attack, causing the Garuda
to be blinded. Continue the battle from here (use magic, attack
it, whatever).
Walk down the path, save, then board
the boat. After the clip (with the poor little boy crying no less!)
Tidus will grab some guy's binoculars for some reason. After that
go up to Yuna, then talk to Wakka. He'll explain about Lord Braska. Talk
to Yuna again.
Boss 2: Sin
After more clips you must battle
Sin. I recommend having Tidus, Wakka, and Kimahri out for the first
three Sinscale. After they're gone, call Yuna out. Have her summon
Valefor and use his overdrive on the fin. Hopefully you will be
able to use it twice. If Valefor dies keep on using magic/Wakka's
attack on the fin.
When the fight is over they will
discover Tidus has fallen off the ship. Wakka will jump down and
save him. Ah, but don't think you'll escape that easily. Welcome to
another fight.
Boss 3: Sinspawn Echuilles
In this battle, heal ONLY if your
HP is below 200. Don't go for the sinscale next to it, just attack
the main guy. Have Wakka use Dark Attack as well so it'll miss at
attacking. Continue to heal/attack until the battle is done.
Kilika
After a rather depressing clip Yuna
will perform the sending. Tidus will be rather confused. Anyways,
you'll wake up, refreshed and ready to go. Head outside and turn
right. Talk to Wakka. Then walk left and up into the forest.
In the forest area a short clip
will be played. Apparently Yuna wants Tidus to be her guardian.
Anyways, after that walk a little bit and go into battle with a
Ragnora. This is the first time Kimahri will show off his lancet
skills. Use lancet on it and learn seed cannon. His overdrive will
go up. If I were you I'd save it.
Boss 4: Lord Ochu
Now if you'll look up ahead you'll
see a huge monster. This is an Ochu, or the Lord Ochu, which, strangely,
is weaker than regular Ochus. Anyways, before you battle it, walk
around the area and get everyone's overdrives up (especially Valefor's).
Use fire in this battle. Be careful of its poison claw. To counter
this, have Yuna perform Esuna. Now summon. Use Valefor's overdrive.
The Ochu will probably fall asleep, restoring health. Use Valefor's
black magic. You might be able to get another one of Valefor's overdrives
in (I did). In any event, use Valefor until he's dead. From there, have
Lulu cast fire, Yuna heal, and someone else attack. Finish him off!
After the battle, Talk to Luzzu.
He'll give you an Elixer. Save, train a bit if you want, then continue
on. The correct way to go to the temple is to turn on the second right
and continue straight. Be careful though--if you go to the top of the
steps you will face a boss.
Boss 5: Sinspawn Geneaux
If you'll notice you will see this
boss has three different parts--the main guy in a shell and its
tentacles. Ordinary attacks won't work on the shell guy, so concentrate
on the tentacles first. I used Tidus and Lulu for this plus Yuna as healing.
Once they're taken care of, summon Valefor and use his overdrive (hopefully
you have it up). In any event the Sinspawn will break out of its shell.
With Valefor, cast fire onto it. If Valefor dies then finish him off
with attacking/using magic and heal sometimes.
After the fight enter the Kilika
temple. Here you will obtain Ifirit. A few people will push you
around though, including the Luca Goers and Dona, another summoner.
Approach the door to the trials. After they go down, step onto the
elevator. Barthello will throw you onto it again. Enter the trial.
Here we go!...
First take the Kilika Sphere and
place it in the right side of the door, which will burn up. Take
the sphere out again, leaving the cinders on the ground. Head to the
next room and place the Kilika sphere on the wall straight ahead. A glyph
will appear. Now take it out and place it on the wall to the right. Touch
the glyph and enter the next room. Take the Kilika sphere to the right
and step on the floor with the shiny thing (heh). Head back to the previous
room and set the Kilika Sphere down to the left. Run back to the pedestal
and take the Glyph Sphere. Place it in the slot where the shiny thing
is. A door will open up to reveal a Destruction Sphere. Don't take it
just yet. Grab a Kilika Sphere from the previous room and place it on the
pedestal. Move the pedestal until it is on top of the shiny thing. The floor
should fall down, revealing yet another Kilika Sphere. Take it and put it
into the door up ahead. Don't take it out yet. Head back to the Destruction
Sphere, take it, and place it in the slot you just found the Kilika Sphere
(where the floor fell). Obtain the Red Armlet and go back to the door, take
the Kilika Sphere out, and head up the stairs. Done!
The others will scold you for entering,
and after that will explain what the fayth is. Attempt to go back
and Yuna will come out. Name your aeon and head out. In the forest
try out you new aeon if you would like. Anyways, go back to the village
and head to the dock.
On ship, walk to the right and head
out the door. Here you'll meet one of my favorite characters:
O'aka the 23rd (XXIII), Merchant Extraordinaire! Talk to him again
and he'll ask you to lend some gil. The amount given depends on
how high his prices are later. Now go upstairs. Go left and watch a
clip of Yuna defending Tidus against the Goers.
Now go to the other side of the
ship and head upstairs. Lulu and Wakka will be talking. Finally,
head over to the edge of the boat to the blitzball. With this you can
learn the Jecht Shot, which will be the main key to winning the blitzball
game you'll be in. There really isn't anything I can tell you in terms
of obtaining the Jecht Shot except that you need good reflexive skills.
Try hard!
Luca
Yuna will talk to you, saying she
recognized that shot. After a conversation about their fathers,
Tidus will take a nap. In Luca the announcers will greet the teams.
After Tidus annoyingly gives a few choice words about the Goers,
save, then head up to see Maester Mika. After that, save. Wakka will
tell you about Blitzball.
After all that, go outside and listen
to the two Al Bhed's conversation. Tidus will try to communicate,
which is pretty funny. Then head outside and go down. Talk to Yuna
and learn about whistling. Go right, and after another clip head to
the bar area. You'll find, instead of Auron, Yenke and Biran, Kimahri's
'friends.' The game will start, and Yuna is missing. Lulu will join
up with you. Head over to dock 4 (or just follow the red arrow in the
map).
You'll encounter some machina along
the way. As Lulu states, they are vulnerable to lightning. The best
way to beat them is to have Tidus and Kimahri attack one and have
Lulu use thunder on another. Chances are, your characters will dodge
most of their attacks. All together there are 10 of them. Save, and
then get ready for a boss.
Boss 6: Oblitzerator
As Tidus points out, you can use
the crane next to you to defeat this guy. Us the trigger command
to work it. Lulu notices it's out of power. To fix this, have Lulu
cast thunder on the crane while the other two hit the boss. After three
of Lulu's thunders the crane will work. Have Tidus use it, and say goodbye
to the Oblitzerator, and hello again to Yuna.
Tidus will talk about how the Al
Bhed saved him when he arrived in Spira. Yuna will mention a person
named Cid and ask Tidus if he saw him. Lulu will remember to give Wakka
the signal that Yuna's safe and sound, and he'll finish up the game.
After the clip with Wakka scolding
Yuna, head back to the lockeroom and talk to him. The game will begin.
Remember, you're not required to win this, and this will be the only
game that's mandatory. If you win, Wakka will end up carrying a big
trophy instead of a blitzball, and also some people along the road
ahead will congratulate him on the victory. That's all.
To successfully win this game is
difficult, but do-able, especially for a veteran player like me.
Keepa has a horrible catch number, so it's best to hold the Goers
from the goal. In the first half, it's best to have Datto break through,
and Tidus shoot. You'll notice once the first half is over Tidus will
be able to use a technique. I STRONGLY suggest you put his Jecht Shot
to good use. If you're new to blitzball you best chance of winning this
is to use the Jecht Shot. Then you need to mark the players to learn new
techniques. All that is available is Graav's Venom Tackle. In the second
half, you can only use the Jecht Shot once because it drains his HP
so much. You might notice that when using it, the ball will knock off two
people he might have encountered, and also boosts his SH to 16. Sweet.
Through the last half the crowd will begin to cheer for Wakka. He'll come
out and you'll play without Tidus. For the rest of the time (hopefully)
your main objective should be holding the Goers back and draining the clock.
Good luck!
Save your game. Tidus will approach
Wakka. Suddenly, a whole bunch of Sahagin Chiefs will attack. As
you kill them Tidus and Wakka will head back to the lockeroom. As
you've probably noticed, the monsters replace the ones you kill.
Use Wakka's Dark Attack if needed. And if you're lucky one of them
will get an overdrive--use it.
Once you see a cool clip of Auron,
make him attack the Vouivre, which should be an instant kill. Wakka
and Tidus will meet up with him. Now a Garuda will fly down. Have Tidus
cast haste on Auron and use Wakka to heal. This battle isn't hard.
After it's defeated Seymour will
summon an aeon, called Anima, which will take care of everything.
Wakka will say farewell to the team and join Yuna and company. Meanwhile,
Tidus will yell at Auron (or is it the other way around...?). Anyways,
follow him and the red arrow. Auron will request to be Yuna's guardian,
but only if Tidus comes too. More clips will play (and an especially
annoying one). Then you'll head out of Luca and to the Highroad.
Mi'ihen Road
My usual party right here is Tidus,
Auron, and Yuna. Your main concern is to get the two aeons' overdrives
up for something later. Talk to the people on the road--some will
give you stuff.
Sooner or later you will encounter
a Raldo. Tidus will fail at killing it, so let Auron step in. Let
him attack it, killing it instantly. Don't forget, he should be the
one to handle those things.
Walk further and meet Maechen. He
is a scholar, full of information on Spira and Sin's past. Next
you'll encounter Lucil, Elma, and Clasko of the Djose Chocobo Knights.
They'll tell you about a large fiend in the area who you must be careful
of. After that, head to the right to meet someone called Belgemine. Accept
her challenge to fight her with your aeons.
She'll summon Ifrit, which means
you can only summon Valefor. I hope you have Valefor's overdrive
up, otherwise it's likely you won't win. You'll notice once Ifrit's
summoned a bar will appear next to him. This is his overdrive bar, and
it's highly advisable to not let it fill up. Immediately use Valefor's
overdrive. Then, the following statement will be made:
An aeon's
attributes rise with those of its summoner. Thus, the Ifrit one
summoner calls may be very different from the one called by another
summoner. Because this Ifrit's strength and HP are both high, it
will win in a straight fight. Trying fighting using your aeon's Shield
and Boost Commands. Shield stops your aeon's Overdrive gauge, but reduces
the amount of damage it receives. Boost accelerates the Overdrive gauge,
but increases the amount of damage received. Shield is best when you expect
the enemy to hit your aeon with a powerful attack. This Ifrit alternates
between Attack and Meteor Strike. A Meteor Strike is coming up next, so
defend your aeon with a shield!
If done successfully, Valefor will
have another overdrive to use. If you win you'll gain an echo ring,
good armor equipment for Yuna. After that, continue to train, and
head up the road.
Throughout the road you'll meet
Luzzu, Gatta, and Shelinda. They all hint about an operation that
will soon take place. After a while you will come across an Al Bhed
shop. Rest up and buy whatever you need. Then head outside and talk
to Yuna. When this long conversation is done you can learn about key
spheres from the tutorial inside.
Now you'll meet Rin. He'll talk
about the Al Bhed language, and give you Al Bhed Primer vol. VIII,
translating R to H. After that Auron will urge you to go outside.
Make preparations for this battle.
Boss 7: Chocobo Eater
The funny thing about this battle
is that you don't necessarily need to win it. There are two outcomes:
you defeat it or it pushes you over the edge of the cliff. If you want
to win, be mindful of its huge defense and strength. When it says
'You're next!' look out. Summon aeons and use their overdrives. Cast
Cheer if needed. Cure should probably be used. Once he's knocked over,
that's the time to attack him, when his defense is lowered. Of course,
he'll get back up, and the process will repeat. Valefor is good to use,
because of the flying ability. Lastly, have Wakka use Dark Attack to decrease
his Accuracy.
If you get pushed over, no worries--just
go up the road. If you beat it, congratulations! I highly recommend
you rent a chocobo so you can gain access to some areas that could
not have been otherwise. To go to these areas you must find chocobo feathers
on the ground. Here is where all of them are in this area:
-After crossing the second bridge on the Newroad by
the group of plants. Obtain Heat Lance.
-Down the Oldroad, to the left of the first old pillar.
Obtain Thunder Blade and Scout.
-Further from where Lucil is, in a tiny road to the
right. Obtain Fortune Sphere.
Now approach the North End where
the guards watch the pass. A guy to the left will ask for donations.
100 gil will give you a Scout (Sensor, Lightning Strike), 1000 gil will
give you an Ice Lance (Piercing, Icestrike), and 10000 gil will give
you a Moon Ring (SOS Shell, SOS Protect). Now talk to the guy further
down. If you choose the option of 'Tell me about the operation' he'll
tell you how they're going to lure Sin with Sinspawn. Go back and talk
to Seymour, who will help you pass.
Mushroom Rock
Go forth here and learn that Seymour
isn't exactly the most perfect Maester. From here follow the red
arrow to the command center. After enduring the road, go up the rock
elevator and talk to Luzzu. Here a little of Wakka and Lulu's past will
be explained. Now follow the red arrow up to the command center. Another
clip will play. Talk to Gatta. Choose between 'Yeah, you should be out
on the front lines' or 'Guarding the command center is important too.'
The basic outcome is the same. Then talk to Kinoc. Eventually he'll
give the signal to start. A sinspawn will break out, which you must fight.
Boss 8: Sinspawn Gui
This guy isn't easy. Its arms will
protect it from physical attacks. The head will cause poison effects.
To prevent this I suggest you immediately summon an aeon and use its
overdrive. At any rate kill the top head first. Two aeon overdrives
should take care of it. After the aeons are done, have Yuna heal and two
other people fight. It's pretty straightforward from there. After a depressing
clip, you must face it again--this time, with Seymour, Auron, and Yuna.
This is the one time in the game where you can see Seymour's overdrive.
Anyways, this fight is really easy now that Seymour is in. Use his
secondary spells to attack and it'll be gone.
After a VERY depressing clip you
can control Tidus again. Walk up and talk to Gatta. More clips will
play. Now just follow the red arrow. On the road, many people will
offer you items, so don't forget to talk to everyone. Take this time
to train a little and get all aeons' overdrives up. Be careful of the
Basilisks--they can turn you to stone. Summon an aeon for them, since
they're immune to it.
Djose
Head right to the temple. Once the
rock opens and you go inside, you'll meet Isaaru, a nicer summoner
than Dona. After Tidus talking to him alone with his brothers (Brothers?
They look nothing alike!) Now enter the trials.
Okay, first take both spheres from
each side of the room and place them on the door. Enter the next
room. Place two Djose Spheres on the wall to the right. Now place a
Djose Sphere (if there already isn't one) on the pedestal and move it
under the pedestal next to the two spheres you just put in the wall.
The Djose Sphere will become 'powered-up.' Take this sphere and place
it on the slot connected to the door, which should open. Now take the two
normal Djose Spheres and place them on the pedestal, then move the pedestal
into the next room that you opened up. It should float at the bottom.
Jump to the other side and push the sphere in. Go back, turn to the left,
and step on the reseter on the floor, which will bring the pedestal back.
Place one sphere on the slot to the left, and the other two in the first
room you went in with the slots on the opposite sides of the wall. Remember
one of the spheres MUST be the powered-up one. Before heading up, go to
the left and touch the glowing wall to reveal a destruction sphere. Take
it and move up. Once you reach the next story slide all the pedestals forward.
A stairway and pedestal should appear. Put the destruction sphere on the
pedestal and receive a magic sphere.
Now go up the stairs. Upon entering,
Yuna can be seen going into the fayth room. After a talk with Dona
and Barthello, try to leave. Yuna will come out. Congratulations!
You now have the Lightning Aeon, Ixion. Tidus will appear from the small
shop, refreshed and ready to go. Head inside the temple and get Yuna,
then head out.
Moonflow
Along the road you'll meet some
people you've seen before, like Shelinda, Yenke, and Biran. Be mindful
of the treasure chests in the area--there are plenty. Further up you
may encounter an Ochu, and they're not easy to beat. I suggest you
summon for them, particularly Ifrit, since they're weak against Fire.
Sooner or later you'll come across
Belgemine. Have all aeons' overdrives up, and then accept her challenge.
She will summon Ixion. Here I suggest you use Ifrit and immediately
use his overdrive. I managed to win this by using Ifrit's overdrive,
and then healing himself with Fire, then I used his overdrive again.
Once you win your prize will be two Dragon Scales and The Summoner's
Soul. The latter is very useful--it'll teach aeons new abilities. A
tutorial will start up for it.
After that encounter continue down
the road. Watch the clip about the Moonflow and head left. Learn
about shoopufs. Talk to everyone in the area. When you're ready,
go on the shoopuf. Everyone will talk about machina and a war that
raged long ago. Suddenly, Yuna will be captured by an Al Bhed. Welcome
to another boss fight.
Boss 9: Extractor
As you can see, only Wakka and Tidus
are fighting since they're the only ones who can swim. Have Tidus
cast haste and use his Delay Attack. Wakka should be your main healer.
If you manage to get Wakka's overdrive up use the Thunder Reels. Try
to keep your HP at a high level. When it swims up and says 'Readying
Depth Charges,' look out. Fortunately if you hit it enough it will come
back down in time before attacking.
Once you're done and you're back
on shore, head over to the far left area. You'll meet Rikku, the girl
from the beginning. She'll join up with you. Now follow the red arrow.
You will go into a mandatory fight to explain Rikku's abilities.
Continue down the road. Be mindful
of the Ochus hanging around. Occasionally you might have an encounter
with a treasure chest in it. Anyways, hurry through the road until
you reach the next town.
Guadosalam
This place is full of Guados, as
the name implies. A person named Tromell will talk to you. He'll
want you to go inside the manor to meet Seymour. Before that, though,
Rikku will give you another tutorial about customizing your equipment.
Now head over to the manor. Try
entering the door to the right and Tromell will show you in. talk
to Auron and Lulu, then Seymour will come in. After a few clips you'll
hear some startling news. Now head out. Meet the others and discuss
what just happened. Yuna will want to go to the Farplane. To go there,
head up and right.
At the Farplane, go inside and talk
to Wakka, then Yuna. After a clip, another one will play with Lord
Jyscal. Leave and meet everyone. Next go down and to the left. Talk
to Shelinda, and then meet everyone again.
Thunder Plains
Now head out. Here is Thunder Plains.
You'll learn about the lightning and how to dodge incoming bolts.
At this point it doesn't matter if you dodge the bolts or not. Sooner
or later you'll run into Shelinda. Talk to her. If you say 'Yep! No
Wedding.' she'll be disappointed. If you choose 'Just kidding.' she'll
scold you. Anyways, move on until you reach a little resting place (Rikku
will beg you to stop, heh heh). Inside, talk to her, then Rin, then go
in the area where Yuna went. After the clip talk to Rikku and head out.
Eventually you must stop again because
Yuna will have something to announce. Once she does, continue going
in the direction you did before. It won't be too long before you're
out.
Macalania
Once in Macalania talk to Auron,
who will explain a bit about Yuna. Go up the path and train. In
particular, watch out for the Chimeras--they have good magical abilities.
If Auron knows Magic Break, use it. Also, Tidus's Delay Attack doesn't
hurt. Other than that, try to memorize its magic use pattern and have
Yuna use her Nuls.
Later you will meet up with Barthello,
who's really worried because Dona's missing. Rikku wants to wish
him good luck. Further up you'll meet a strange bird person with a
harp, who will explain about the butterflies.
Once you reach the end and go past
O'aka, Auron will want to show you something. Before he can fully
explain, though, a Spherimorph will appear. Hope you're ready!
Boss 10: Spherimorph
To start out with, this guy will
change magical elements, so be careful. First, immediately summon
Valefor so, once it attack, you can know what element it is. Its Press
attack will cut everyone's HP in half. Have Tidus cast haste on Yuna
so she can use Nuls/heal/summon quicker. Also have Auron use Magic
Break since it's not immune to it. If Lulu has her overdrive up, use
it to whatever opposite element it is. I also had Valefor retreat and
Yuna Grand Summon for an extra non-elemental overdrive. That pretty much
killed it.
Once you beat the Spherimorph you
will receive a Jecht Sphere. In it you'll see a little of Braska,
Auron, and Jecht's past. There will also be a little of Jecht's
soft side, heh heh. Auron will learn a new overdrive called The Shooting
Star, which attacks one enemy only, but more powerfully than a regular
attack. He will also tell Tidus more about Jecht.
After that, head north to an icy place.
Go and talk to Clasko by the shop. He'll ask you if he should be
a chocobo knight or breeder. Clicking on knight will make him disappointed,
and breeder will make him happy. Head inside the shop. Talk to a few
people, rest up, buy stuff, etc. Then go outside and take the left path.
Meet up with Tromell and leave Yuna to him. Oh, and did I mention a boss
is coming up? ;) Hope you're ready, this one isn't easy!
Boss 11: Crawler
The little thing flying above
the Crawler, Negator, disables all magic and aeons. With 16,000 HP
you'll have to take that down first, and the best way you can do
that is by using Wakka's attack. Once you take it down a box will appear
that says Mana beam in: __ turns. You must NEVER let it hit your characters
with the Mana beam attack. Summon an aeon to take that attack instead.
If possible use their overdrives--especially Ixion's, whose does phenomenal
damage. Casting haste on Yuna helps. Switch characters when needed.
Once that's over you'll see a clip
about Wakka and Rikku. Auron will ask if the machina are rideable.
Depending on which character you've interacted with the most (talk
to, help during battle, etc) will be the one you ride with. I have
managed to travel with Lulu, Kimahri, and Rikku. I'm not sure if it's
possible to ride with Auron or Wakka. When you stop you'll be in front
of Macalania Temple. Go down the slope and enter. Talk to Shelinda, then
watch the clip about Lord Jyscal and learn Seymour is bad news (yeah, like
you REALLY needed HIM to tell you that, heh). Before you enter the Cloister
of Trials, go outside and get your overdrives up and train. Then enter and
after a clip be prepared to fight.
Boss 12: Seymour
In the first part, Seymour will
be aided with two Guado Guardians. Immediately the two guardians
will cast protect of themselves and Seymour will cast shell. Next
to Tidus, Yuna, and Wakka will be a trigger command. Talk to Seymour,
and Yuna's Magic Defense will increase, Tidus's Strength will increase,
and Wakka's Magic Defense will increase. At all costs take out the guardians
first. A Banishing Blade from Auron will take care of one; use Lulu's
Fury and/or Tidus's Slice and Dice if you have it for the other. Then
just hack away at Seymour. Have Auron use Magic Break to reduce his magic
power.
Before you can finish him off Seymour
will summon Anima. With 15,000 HP and a powerful overdrive you'll
need to get something out that can stand up to her (yes, Anima is
a female!) so first summon the new ice aeon Yuna just received. Attack
Anima with Heavenly Strike and heal your ice aeon with Blizzara ever so
often. Eventually she can perform her overdrive, Diamond Dust. Continue
attacking and healing to finish Anima.
In the last stage Seymour will use
a pattern of elemental attacks--first ice, the lightning, the water,
and lastly fire. To make this really easy have Yuna cast Nuls in the
same order to make your characters immune to his elemental attacks.
Then have Auron use Magic Break and attack him from there (he won't
be able to hurt you at all because Yuna's Nuls will cancel everything
out). Finish him!
A clip will play, and you are now
a traitor. Name your new aeon, save, then go to the Cloister of
Trials. YES, you have to go through this temple too. Let's begin!
Walk down the ramp to the left. You'll
notice a pedestal further down. Push it to the right. It should crush
some icicles and stop. Now go to the far right to the nearest sphere.
Take it and place it on the pedestal. Now slide the pedestal up. It
should go down to the bottom room. Once there, slide the pedestal to
the right so part of the bridge will be restored. Go back up. On the left
side of the second pillar is a Glyph sphere. Take it and head back down.
Place the Glyph sphere on the farthest left slot on the wall. Above a
Macalania sphere will appear. Head up, take the new sphere, go down again,
and place it on the left pillar. Now only one part of the bridge needs to
be restored. Go upstairs and take the Macalania sphere on the wall near
you. The ramp going down should disappear. Place it on the middle pillar
where the Glyph sphere used to be. Go up the ramp. The bridge is complete.
For the Destruction sphere step on
the shiny thing by the front of the bridge. A pedestal will appear.
Push it without taking the Macalania sphere out, and now it becomes
a Destruction Sphere. Walk down the ramp and step on the shiny thing
further down to put the pedestal and Destruction sphere where you can
reach it. Take the Macalania sphere from the middle pillar (yes, I know
the bridge will become incomplete again, don't worry!) and place it on
the front wall so the ramp going down will open up again. Now take the Destruction
sphere, head down, and place it on the slot to your immediate left. Presto!
You now have a Luck Sphere, and the puzzle is complete.
To set the bridge up again, take the
Glyph sphere and head up to where the incomplete bridge is. Step
on the shiny thing and a pedestal will appear. Place the Glyph sphere
on the pedestal and slide it down, causing it to become a Macalania sphere.
Walk down the ramp, step on the second shiny thing, and place the new
Macalania sphere on the slot to the far right. The icicles should appear.
Slide the pedestal into the icicles, take the sphere and place it on
the pedestal again, and slide it up where it should go down the ramp. Slide
it to the right so the bridge will almost be complete. Now head up. Take
the Macalania sphere from the back (the ramp will disappear), place
it on the middle pillar, and you're done! The bridge is complete. Walk
up and head out.
Upon greeting some angry Guados, you
need to run outta here! As quickly as you can run up the path. When
you encounter a Guado (and believe me, you will!) he will summon monsters.
Kill the Guado first so the fiends aren't summoned anymore. Once you're
out in the open they won't follow. Walk down the path until you reach
the save sphere. Be prepared for a fight--train, get overdrives up,
etc.
Boss 13: Wendigo
As usual, take care of the two Guado
Guardians first. To do that easily, summon an aeon and use its
overdrive. I used Ixion (Thor's Hammer does 9,999, taking half
his health right there!). Once the guardians die they'll cast Shell
and Protect on him, which is NOT good. He is EXTREMELY powerful--his
punches are deadly. Grand Summon Ixion or get his overdrive up again
(it helps to cast Thundara on himself to heal). A second overdrive
will finish him off. If Ixion dies summon other aeons and use their overdrives.
Before he dies Wendigo will stomp
on the ice, breaking it and sending you below. Save, then talk to
everyone. After the clip talk to Auron. Sin will appear. Tidus will
be knocked unconsious and a clip will play about Jecht.
Sanubia Desert
Tidus will wake up in water.
Welcome to the Sanubia Desert. Save, then walk up. After Tidus mumbles
to himself you should encounter a Zu. Attack it. After awhile Auron
and Lulu will join the fight. Defeat it, save again, then start making
your way through this place. To find Wakka simply walk straight ahead.
From there follow the red arrow on the map. Turn right to find Kimahri.
Turn around and head left and up to find Rikku. For a little while Rikku
will show you the way but she'll stop sooner or later. From the point that
she stops showing you, follow the red arrow (go straight and slightly to
the left). In the last part, just keep following the red arrow.
Eventually you should see treasure
chests inside a hole. DO NOT go in after it unless you want to face
a Sandragora. Sooner or later though you will come to a point where
you MUST face one, so heal before going in the hole. They absorb water,
so if Tidus has his Brotherhood equipped it won't do any damage. Instead,
use him to cast Cheer and Haste on other party members. I recommend
Auron and Lulu for this fight.
Once that's over Rikku will point you
to her home. Unfortunately it's being attacked. A dying man will tell
you this is the Guado's doing. You'll meet Cid, Rikku's father. Save,
then go. For the record there are a few Al Bhed primers in here which
you can't go back and get later in the game, so watch out for them.
When you save follow the red arrow.
Go with the gang and encounter a Guado with three Bombs. As usual,
attack the Guado first, who will try to Nullify Lulu's magic. The Bombs
will grow upon being hit. After three hits without killling it the
Bomb with self-destruct and do major damage. Lulu's Blizzara helps. After
the battle follow everyone to the right. Another clip will play.
This time you encounter a Guado plus
two Dual Horns. After the Guado is dead, remember that these guys
use both strong physical and magical attacks, so use Auron's Power
Break and Magic Break. Tidus's Delay Attack is useful as well. Use healing
items when necessary.
When the battle is over walk down the
stairs, save, and open the door to the left of the sphere. A clip
will play and a Guado with two Chimera's will come out. Immediately
the Guado will cast Silence on Lulu if she's out. Don't worry about
her--just use her to deal healing items out to those who need it. As
quickly as possible have Auron use Magic Break on the two Chimeras and
let the third person take care of the Guado. When he's gone have Auron
use Power Break. Lulu should soom be Silence-free, so use her magic
to finish then off!
After the fight head down the stairs
to the left. A confusing clip will play. Walk down the stairs (with
great treasure chests around the room I might add!). Then walk through
the door. A...very sad clip will play. Yuna isn't there.
When the clip is done turn right and
go up the stairs. You will now be in the airship of FFX. Once the
clip is over and you can walk around, talk to Cid. Then walk down, past
Auron, out the room, and then walk back to Cid. Listen to their conversation.
After that talk to Brother (the guy with the mohawk who's flying the
ship). Yuna is found.
Walk down and meet up with Rin. He'll
tell you that some fiends snuck on board, which is good for training.
Go down the hallways. Rin is willing to sell you shop items, so buy anything
you need from him. As far as the training goes, it's highly advisable
to have everyone's overdrives up. If you think you're going to have
a hard time with the next boss (who definitely will be the hardest yet!)
then train Lulu until she knows her elemental spells in the third level.
When you think you're ready, watch a clip about the thing you're
about to face (yikes!). Rin will ask you one last time if you need any
last-minute things. When ready, go up the lift.
Bevelle
Boss 14: Evrae
On top of the airship you must manuever
to fight this guy. As it says in the game, use the trigger commands
Move In and Pull Back to adjust the distance between the airship and
Evrae. As noted, only Tidus and Rikku can give these orders. Give an
order and Cid will move the airship on his next turn. To cancel an order,
use the Cancel command before Cid takes his turn.
Basically you want to use the Pull
Back command when Evrae is preparing to use his Poison Breath (he'll
sort of inhale to show he's about to use this). Have Tidus cast Haste
on Auron, then Lulu. Power Break is excellent against him. If he does
happen to use Poison Breath, immediately take out Rikku and have her use
Al Bhed Potions. By the way, his Stone Gaze causes Petrification, unfortunately.
When he is farther back use Lulu's spells/Wakka's attack. If he's away
for too long he'll do a move called Photon Spray and also a Swooping Scythe.
Avoid both of these at all costs. After awhile Evrae will cast Haste onto
himself. It's possible to counter it by casting Slow onto him but most
of the time it misses, so just try to cancel it out by casting Haste on
your characters. Anyways, for this fight, it's really all about pulling
back at the right time.
Once you defeat him the gang will land
in Bevelle, where the ceremony is being held. You will have no place
to save, so any false moves will result in having to face Evrae again.
Anyways, heal as much as possible, then walk up.
Your first encounter will be with the
two guards who use guns and one who uses a flamethrower. Take the
guy with a flamethrower out first, then the others. Heal and continue
on.
On the next encounter will be two flamethrowing
guards and a 'YKT-63.' If the machina is the last one standing it
will do a powerful kick move which will blast one of your characters
out of the fight. If Auron has his overdrive up use Banishing Blade
on it. At any rate be sure to take care of the machina first.
The third encounter is the same as
the first one--a guy with a flamethrower and two other regular guards.
The same tactics apply. The next encounter is the same as the second
one. Do the same. On the fifth encounter will be two guards and a
'YAT-99' which is far away so you can't hit it. After taking care
of the guards quickly attack the machina so it won't be able to hurt
you much.
No more encounters for now. After several
clips you'll wind up in the temple. Walk down the steps and save.
Also, note that there are some Al Bhed Primers here which you will
never have another chance to retrieve. Walk into the trials and start
the puzzle.
First, walk to the pedestal and push
it. Tidus will stop on the floor and an elevator will go down. Comfirm
the direction. I will now call the following area you're about to go
on the first floor. On it will be three directional glyphs--the first
takes you to the 'second floor,' the second takes you to two different
paths, and the third causes you to switch directions. Press X while on
a directional glyph to switch directions.
Take the first directional glyph and
head to the second floor. Go straight ahead and when you get to the
end pick up the Bevelle Sphere. Place it on the pedestal, then push
it again. On the first floor go right on the second directional
glyph and place one of your Bevelle Spheres on the slot found there.
The path is now complete on the second floor. Staying on the first floor,
go left this time on the second directional glyph. Grab the Bevelle Sphere
and place it on the pedestal. Now take the first directional glyph to
the second floor. The glyph will give you the options of going forwards,
backwards, or left. Choose left. There are four directional glyphs on this
floor total. Go to the very last one and turn right. Put a Bevelle Sphere
in the first slot. Push your pedestal again and now go back to the main
hallway on the second floor. Turn right on the second-to-last directional
glyph and grab the Glyph Sphere. Put the Bevelle Sphere in its place (the
walls around you will light up). Now go and take a right at the very last
directional glyph. Walk all the say down and place the Glyph Sphere on the
slot at the end, revealing a Destruction Sphere. Take it and go back. Turn
right on the second-to-last directional glyph. Swap places with the Bevelle
Sphere and Destruction Sphere. Now turn right on the second directional
glyph and you're outta here! Be VERY sure to get the treasure chest on
the right once you climb up the stairs! It's important! Go right to meet
with everyone. Tidus will force his way into the Fayth Chamber, and now
you have the mighty Dragon aeon, Bahamut. Save your game.
After a bunch o' clips you'll find
yourself in the Via Purifico, with Yuna as your character this time.
Save. The quickest way out is to go on the second transportation glyph
straight ahead, transport forward, meet Auron, and continue up the
path with red lights. At the end of the path is Isaaru. Because he
is on Bevelle's side you must face him.
First he will summon Ifrit, or what
he calls 'Grothia.' I summoned Bahamut and used his overdrive immediately.
That should pretty much kill him. Next will be Valefor (or 'Pterya').
Summon any aeon at all--it doesn't matter. Bahamut can take Valefor
out without Mega Flare and for the others just use their overdrive
and attack. Lastly is Bahamut. I used Shiva for this one. After doing
Diamond Dust, keep attacking with Heavenly Strike and occasionally healing
her with Blizzara. Oddly enough Bahamut doesn't do anything besides Mega
Flare. If she dies summon another aeon and finish him off.
Once you defeat Isaaru you will now
control Tidus. Swim down the waterway, encountering fiends as you
go. Past the second save sphere is a boss--undead Evrae.
Boss 15: Evrae Altana
You can do one of two things in
this fight. The first is to defeat Evrae, and the second is to open
the locks. I suggest you defeat him, since there'a s really simple way
to do it. Since he is undead (aka in Zombie status) healing items will
actually hurt him, right? So, throw two Phoenix Downs at him, both doing
about 8,200 damage, to kill him once and for all. If for some reason
you have no Phoenix Downs use other healing items (Rikku's Al Bhed potions
are good since you SHOULD have plenty).
Once he's gone swim up. Head out and
everyone will meet again. Soon after, Seymour will appear. Kimahri
is brave and fends him off while everyone runs. However, Yuna insists
that they go back and help Kimahri, so you must face Seymour. Along
the path buy stuff from O'aka, train, and get your overdrives up.
Boss
16: Seymour Natus
Seymour will have a little friend next
to him called Mortibody. It's also your friend too, and I'll explain
why in a minute. Anyways, Kimahri will start out with your group in
this battle, and if you're like me you don't want that. Trade him if
you want. Your characters have trigger commands again. If Yuna uses it
her Magic Defense increases, Tidus's Strength will increase, and Auron's
Strength will increase. Now to the actual fight. Have Yuna summon an aeon
and use its overdrive. You will notice two things: one, that when Mortibody
runs out of health it will borrow some from Seymour (hence why it is also
your friend) and two, Seymour will KO your aeon. Cast Haste on Yuna and
use your aeons' overdrives. That should take care of the fight. An overdrive
from Bahamut, Shiva, and Ixion did it for me. Your other characters
should use healing items and revive Yuna as quickly as possible if she
dies.
After you kill him the scene will change
over to Macalania for a short while. Walk down and watch a few clips.
Then head out and enter the Calm Lands.
The Calm Lands
When you walk forward immediately
you can see how huge this place is. Walk down to the left. Talk
to Maechen, who will tell you about this place. Then continue walking
down the ramp. When you see some chocobos an odd machine will approach
you. About straight ahead is a shop. Walk to it. Once there a man will
approach you named Father Zuke. Talk to everyone, then do some quick
shopping. Sell as much as possible, because you'll need some money for
later.
Now walk right. Don't go Northwest because
there is a giant crack in the Earth which will force you to turn around.
Just go straight right. Before you head over to the area with the
red arrow you may notice a green square on the map. Located there is
the Monster Arena, a sidequest of FFX. I suggest you deal with that once
you obtain the airship again--for now, walk to the red arrow. On the
other side you'll meet up with some angry Guados.
Technically this guy isn't a boss (Defender
X). Cast Haste on Yuna and have her summon. All the aeons' overdrives
should take care of him. Use Auron's greath strength and Armor Break.
Defender X does very high physical damage, so casting Protect isn't
a bad idea. Haymaker is more than likey an instant KO. Eventually he
will cast Mighty Guard, which casts Nul-All, Protect, and Shell on him.
A quick Dispel from Yuna will take care of that.
Once finished with the battle you will
see two places to go. One is under the bridge and to the Cavern of
the Stolen Fayth, where Yojimbo, a secret aeon, lies. For more info
on this check my Aeon section on this site. If you have enough money
you can obtain him. The other way is to Mount Gagazet. I suggest you go
down and get Yojimbo. You can never have enough aeons!
Mount Gagazet
The Ronsos are a little hostile
to you at first. Save, then head up the mountain.
Boss 17: Yenke and Biran
Don't worry if you haven't trained
Kimahri much previously before this fight. The two Ronso's HP and
stats will default to match Kimahri's (somewhat). Anyways, Lancet is
the key to winning this fight. Both Ronsos have several Lancet abilities
Kimahri can use. From them, I obtained Fire Breath, Self-Destruct, Thrust
Kick, Stone Breath, Aqua Breath, Doom, and White Wind. Use the new Lancet
abilities to your advantage, and use healing items when needed. This fight
isn't tough.
Once that's over with save and continue
on. A clip will play, and you can begin going up this mountain. Pay
close attention to side paths on the road--they lead to some pretty
good treasure. Also, think of this mountain and the long journey
up it as good training for upcoming battles. Move forward on the sphere
grid and get overdrives up.
Sooner or later you will meet up with
Wantz, O'aka's brother. This is your last chance to buy any
items or weapons, all the way down to Zanarkand. Stock up! Then continue
on until you reach a save sphere. Get ready for a tough battle.
Boss 18: Seymour Flux
This battle isn't easy. Connected
to Seymour is Mortiorchis, who helps him. One of the first things
you should do is take out Tidus and cast Hastega. If he doesn't know
it (and he should!) at least cast Haste onto Yuna (who by the way can
talk to Seymour and raise her Magic Defense). Seymour's Lance of Athrophy
will do damage on your character and turn him/her to Zombie Status. Then
he'll cast Full-Life, KOing your character. If you have time use Holy
Water before he uses their Full-Life. Quickly summon you aeons and use
their overdrives. Seymour will banish them after that. When your aeons
are used up have Yuna cast Protect and heal. He should only have a few HP
left. Use Auron as your main attacker. Tidus should cast Cheer. Of course,
Seymour will eventually cast Dispel on all your characters. Ignore that
and just hack away at him while healing. Finish him!
Once you're done go and save. Head to
the red arrow where clips will play. Tidus will dream and learn some
startling news. Continue on and go into the cave. Inside head up the
path and save. Turn left, and at the end will be water (only Tidus,
Wakka, and Rikku can go down there). I recommend fleeing for these battles.
Go straight. At the end will be a puzzle. Hit the center with Wakka's
ball. It's not easy to time it right, just practice and you'll get it
eventually.
After that swim down. Once out of the
water walk to the red arrow and left. Walk into the water. On the other
side will be another puzzle. Tidus goes in the blue spot, Rikku in
the green, and Wakka in the red. Swim back to land.
Now turn to the path on your left and
head up. Save. This is your last chance to train--on the other side
is a boss. I HIGHLY recommend that Yuna at least knows Reflect and Dispel.
You'll see why. Get all overdrives up and train.
Boss 19: Sanctuary Keeper
This guy is hard. I recommend using
Auron, Yuna, and Tidus for this fight. This guy will love to do two
things: one, cast Curaga and Regen onto himself, and two, cast Reflect
on your characters. Immediately, cast Hastega on your party and Reflect
onto him. A Photon Wings attack on an aeon will cause it to not be able
to use an overdrive. When he casts Reflect on on of your characters immediately
Dispel on that character, otherwise he'll cast Regen/Curaga onto the person
with Reflect which will bounce the spell back to him. Summon aeons and
use their overdrives as quickly as possible. Every time I fight this guy
I barely win.
After the fight watch more clips. Pick
up the sphere Yuna drops and listen to it, then continue down the
path. Here, you'll see the clip from the beginning of the game, which
is cool.
Zanarkand
Here at last! Follow the path,
towards the red arrow. Train, and pick up stuff from treasure chests
along the way. At the end will be an old guy waiting for you who wants
to welcome the new summoner. Oddly enough, he'll disappear. Head into
the stadium. If you need Lv. 3 key spheres, the Defenders will sometimes
drop them. Make your way through until you reach the inside of the place,
where the trials are. This is sort of difficult, so I will explain as
best as I can.
On the floor there are tiles with white
lights. Stepping on one will reveal a shape. Look on the computer
screen and step on the tiles that match in shape. I will tell you the
location of each by using a grid system--for example, A1 = the uppermost
left corner. They are at A4, B3, D10, F7, and G5. Stepping on all correctly
will result in the door opening and pedestals appearing to the side. Push
the pedestal on the top right and go into the other room. The computer screen
will tell you where all of the correct shapes are. Here are the locations:
- D9,
F3, F7, G1, N5, N17, O14, and P2. Go back in the other room and push
the pedestal on the top left.
- A5, D9, F3, G1, K3, and N12. Push the bottom left pedestal.
- A15, F6, F7, G1, H8, K3, and P2. Push the bottom right
pedestal.
- A5, G1, H8, K3, N5, O14, and P2. Go up to the computer
screen and take the Besaid Sphere, and place it on the right pedestal.
Save, then get ready for a boss in the other room.
Boss 20: Spectral Keeper
This guy isn't extraordinarily hard.
All of your characters will have a trigger command which will allow
them to move around. It's wise to keep them spread out. When the fight
begins cast Hastega and summon aeons. Mega Flare alone takes about half
this guy's health. Your aeon, however, will be instantly killed after that.
Once in a while the glyph one of your characters are standing on will glow.
Move onto another before it explodes. If your aeons are gone, just attack
and heal.
Save, then go up the elevator again and
get all overdrives up and train . The next boss won't be easily defeated.
Then, go down again and watch more clips. Eventually you must face
the boss.
Boss 21: Yunalesca
She has three forms. On the first form,
don't summon yet. Instead, use this as a time to cast protective spells
on everyone, like Hastega, Protect, Shell, Regen, etc. She doesn't do
much here--just Absorbs, Blinds, and puts your characters to sleep. Finish
this part.
On the second form she'll immediately
place all of your characters in Zombie status. ALWAYS keep at least
one person in that status, and you'll see why later. With 48,000 HP
you can start summoning. If possible try and get your aeons to use
two overdrive instead of one. The ones with elements (Ifrit, Ixion, and
Shiva) can heal by casting a spell of their element onto themselves, which
will help in obtaining a second overdrive. Try to use three aeons at the
most for this form.
On her third form a giant head will pop
out of the ground (weird!). She'll instantly cast Mega Death, which
will kill all people not in Zombie status. Summon your other aeons. She
will perform a move called Mind Blast, which will block an aeons' ability
to use an overdrive. When your aeons are gone continue to attack her and
counter her spells. Finish her!
After the fight walk up and out. The airship
will be waiting for you outside. Now you can go anywhere you want. On
the airship, talk to Yuna and Kimahri. Before going to Bevelle, revisit
Zanarkand. Once there, go to the stadium, where Yunalesca was. Meet
up with Dona and explain that there is no more Final Summoning. Enter
to the trial room and finish the puzzle. This time, you must step on
all the white square shapes. In the first room, they are located at A7,
D5, and F2. In the second room step on panels C11, G5, N4, and O9. Once
done correctly a panel will open. Take the Destruction Sphere and place
it to the right of the computer screen in the second room. Claim the prize
and head out.
Once the airship again go to Bevelle,
or Highbridge on the map. Talk to Shelinda, then Mika, then the little
fayth boy. He will ask you how to defeat Sin. Click on 'Defeat Yu Yevon'
for the correct answer. Then you will be on the airship again. Before
you face Sin, I suggest the following: one, that you have all three of
the secret aeons, two, that Yuna knows Holy, three, Lulu knows her third
level elemental spells, and four, everyone's overdrives are up. When
you think you're ready go face him.
Boss 22: Sin
The left side goes first. In this fight
he won't do much far away but up close he does devestating attacks.
Summon two aeons at the most. Cast Hastega, and attack from there.
The same can be said for the other side. Basically, all I ever needed
to do was summon the Magus Sisters to make this fight really short and
easy.
In the fight with Sinspawn, again summon
the Magus Sisters for an easy time. If you don't have them, summon
Ifrit because of his fire-element and use his overdrive. Note that when
attacking the Sinspawn it will absorb Tidus's Brotherhood attack because
of the water. When it dies finish the part on Sin as quickly as possible
to avoid a devestating gravity attack. Still, leave some aeons left with
their overdrives for later.
On the last form, note a few things: one,
that if you save your game you will have no chance of going outside
to train or get overdrives up until after this fight. Two, that you
only have a limited amount of time to defeat him before you die. Three,
that you need to throw powerful attacks at him as quickly as possible.
To help, cast Hastega. When he's far away, use Lulu's third level elemental
spells here. Yuna should deal Holy if all aeons are gone. A single Oblivion
from Anima should take about half his HP away. Another Grand Summon with
Anima will take care of the rest. If you don't have that, just use all
other aeon overdrives and hope for the best.
Sin
When Cid drops you off, you'll
notice you will have no map route. If I were you I'd equip something
with no encounters so you can safely explore. When you reach a second
save sphere, be prepared for a fight.
Boss
23: Seymour Omnis
Ugh......fortunately this fight is
really easy. To make this incrediably short, notice the color in the
wheels pointed to him. Red is fire, yellow is lightning, blue is water,
and dark blue is ice. Now just summon an aeon that matches the element
shown, so it'll absorb all attacks. The only exception is water since there
IS no aeon with that element. Instead cast some Nuls for this fight or summon
an non-elemental aeon. Easy. To win this in an almost cheating-like manner,
equip armor beforehand that absorbs all four elements. Use Armor Break
to help kill him.
Inside the city, there will be funny sayings
on the walls. To open them, defeat enough fiends in here. Walk towards
the red arrow to face the next boss, aka the nearly-last-one in the
game. Here will be your last save sphere.
A giant thing should fall out of the sky.
Approach it and touch the pink symbol on it. Basically what you have
to do is collect 10 of the egg-shaped things that appear while trying
not to get hit by a crystal icicial, which will cause an encounter with
an undesirable fiend. In general, flee from those battles. After you
collect all of them equip anything good you might've received, heal, and
get ready for a tough fight!
Boss 24: Braska's Final Aeon
As an FYI, this guy has two forms;
one with 60,000 HP and another with 120,000 HP. When his overdrive
is about to go up, use Tidus's talk trigger command to cause his overdrive
bar to go down. First, go all out with aeons and their overdrives--you
won't need them later. The Yu Pagodas next to him will quicken his overdriven
and heal him, which is not good. When your aeons are gone, heal and
attack from there. Holy is an enormous help offensively. For me, all
I used during this entire fight was the Magus Sisters and Anima. Easy!
Boss 25: Yu Yevon
This is actually the easiest fight
in the game, since you will automatically be revived when dead. In
other words, THERE'S NO WAY YOU CAN LOSE. First, he will possess all
of your aeons. Attack them with confidence, since you have no chance
of dying. When Yu Yevon is all by himself the Yu Pagodas will constantly
heal him, a real annoyance. So, use Zombie Attack on him (sadly he's
one of the few bosses who isn't immune to this) to make them hurt instead
of heal him (I found this funny to watch). Attack and finish him!
Congradulations! You have just beaten Final Fantasy X. Watch the
ending clip plus the special one after the credits! You deserve it.
