A Time Vulnerable

A time vulnerable I wrote

Poured out my soul as if the spewing of it
were the only way to keep from drowning in it

It was molten lava that freely flowed
and burned hot with passion and fear and anger

I could not control it's path

You did not dodge it

We befriended each other
like twin peaks on a cold, cold morning

Two smoking guns
rising before the dawn
whose ghostly spirits had roamed
another night of denial and betrayal

We are quieter now

Innocent and still you sleep

I watch
Knowing what lies beneath the surface

I miss the days of our violent ascent from hell
