Daniel, My Brother

Have you ever been priviledged
to know someone fully?
Has anyone ever
bared his soul to you
as a brother?
And the bloody injury
of his fresh wound
mixed with your own bleeding soul?

And the healing of the pain
been found only in common injury
and heartfelt hurt?
And total helplessness
and weakness?

From such a mangled mass
of damaged dreams
greater dreams are born.

From the depths of communed despair
spring the hybrid love of kinship rare.
And courage for the finish
No matter long or sore
Committed to the longing
of long-forgotten lore

We set aside the schedule
push back the cloak of time
and in our silent, anguished hour
a place of refuge find

Though no one else
may see us here
and no one else may care
We think of love
and honor life
and have a place somewhere
That we alone may share

It is not where we're going
It is not where we've been
It isn't little things we've done
Or where we'll go again

And how we could have found us here
In a world that's too far bent
On keeping us
from seeing us
It's simply heaven sent

You know that this is far too great
to ever be denied
I know that this has gone too far
to ever be belied

So we will just keep keeping on
and we will wait and see
defy the fate
defy the odds
explore
the mystery

And somewhere in the course of time
When all is said and done
That test of time
Which leaves the rest
Will be a friend of mine

I have you for forever
I have you for today
We tenderly exhumed the pain
And found a way to stay
Inside our hearts
Inside our love
Inside the other way

forever is forever now
forever we will stay

Daniel, my brother

I Love You!

I swear to God

I Will Always Love You!
