"That was nice," Brian says softly but directly to you.
"It was," you continue to search his eyes as you long for another kiss.
"I haven't kissed someone like that since, well nevermind," he looks away. You give him a sincere but questioning look and avoiding the subject he says, "You are so great." He draws you into his embrace and hugs you tightly.
As you draw away from the hug, he gives you a sinister look and before you can respond, he shoves you into the water. Thinking fast, you grab his shirt and pull him down into the water with you.
Gasping out of surprise and lack of air, Brian resurfaces, "Wow, you are too quick for me."
Beaming, you take his hand in yours and lead him back to your picnic spot on the beach. You pick up the blanket, fold it, and put it away in your bag.
"Are we leaving so soon?" Brian questions.
"Unless you were planning on spending the night here on the beach," you continue to tidy up.
"That wouldn't be so bad," his smile melts your heart and he pulls you towards him, enlocking you in a passionate kiss.
After completing this even more amazing kiss, you say, "No... that wouldn't be so bad." You both laugh and hug shortly, "But, Brian, there is way more to see. We haven't even gone into the city yet."
"Oh boy," he giggles in a childish tone, "Well, we better get moving."
He picks up the trash and deposits it into a trash can nearby. You take your bag to the car and put it into the trunk. Brian starts up the car as you run around and enter the passenger side.
You direct him back to the road and begin traveling towards the city. He hums softly filling the silence.
"Care to share that beautiful voice of yours, Brian?"
"Oh, that is right, I owe you a song, don't I?"
"Sure do!" you respond.
"Well, I'll save that for later, ok?" he smiles.
"Oh, I suppose."
"We wouldn't want to run out of fun, now would we?" He takes his hand off the wheel and interlocks it with yours.
"Wouldn't wanna do that," you kiss him on the cheek as he focuses on the road ahead. He blushes.
The car stops at a red light and some pedestrians cross in front of the car. "Hmm, people, social activity, could this be the city I see?" he looks at the buildings to his right and the buzz of people around them.
"Maybe," you say in agreement.
He turns the car and says, "Now what?"
"Feel free to park anywhere."
"Alrighty then," he does a goofy Jim Carey voice and places his hand back on the wheel. After the car stops he turns it off and gets out. You join him in front of the convertible and escort him to the sidewalk.
You take his hand and shuffle ahead of him, dragging him behind. Switching his hand over into your other hand, you join his side.
“So what are we doing now?” He asks in a sarcastically whiny tone.
“If you are going to have an attitude, you can always go home,” you say acting on his sarcasm.
“I am sorry, babe,” he sticks his lower lip out giving you a sad puppy look, “I was only kidding.”
“And so was I,” you smile flirtatiously.
“Alright, so what do ya got?” he asks while his eyes search the shops bordering the long street.
“Well over there,” you point, “we have a little souvenir shop... you know little gifts and things. To our right it his quaint little clothing shop, pretty nice actually. Over there...,” you squint under the 4:00 sun, “is a cute cafe where I have spent many summer days.”
He nods approvingly.
“Oh and how could I forget, the best one,” you look to the store immediately to your side, “This is the pet shop.” A tiny tan Chihuahua pup stares at you and Brian through the window and whimpers in excitement.
You turn to Brian and smile. Your smile immediately fades when you catch his eyes shimmering with tears. Sympathetically you say, “Oh, Brian, what is wrong?”
“It just looks like my Lil Tyke.” He taps the window.
“Yeah, it does,” you are worried, “Sure is a cutie.”
“I miss him so much,” he squats down in front of the window, getting closer to the doggy.
“Mmm hmmmm,” you are at a loss for words.
“And she took him away from me,” he stands up, takes your hand, and looks away. You see a tear fall.
“What?” you question.
“Leighanne. She insisted he was hers and when we broke up, she took off with him before I could stop her,” another tear rolls down his cheek.
“I didn’t know you guys split up,” you inform him.
“We kept it quiet, it was pretty nasty. I mean, just when you think you are in love,” he takes a deep breath trying to shrug off the sadness.
“Oh, that is too bad. I wish I could do something,” you hug him gently.
“You are helping me more than you could ever know. I am glad we could spend today together.”
“My pleasure,” you brush your hand over his damp cheek and swipe away the last tear. As your fingers grace his soft lips, you kiss him tenderly, “and I mean that, Brian.”
