The Perfect Fan

Chapter 4

"Alright, so where can we go from here?" Brian asks as his car sits at the end of your driveway.

"All I know is that I love you still," you begin to sing the lyrics from the song, "Where Can We Go From Here," the song Brian sang on "A Night Out With The Backstreet Boys." You stop when you see Brian's gaze settle upon you and begin feeling uncomfortable singing your "solo." "What?" you ask him.

"Oh, I was just admiring your voice, it is rather captivating!" He smiles.

"Oh stop," you say and playfully nudge his side.

"No, seriously, it is really beautiful!" he nudges you back.

"Mmmmm Hmmmm, turn left." You say avoiding the conversation.

"Ok, then, you mind telling me what is left?" He changes topics too after seeing you are uncomfortable.

"A street." you smile.

"I would hope so! And after that?" He begins to play along.

"Another street."

"Ok, I see where this is going," he relaxes back in his seat.

"Oh, but do you? I thought you didn't know your way around here!" You laugh at his vulnerability.

He laughs along, "Aren't we little Miss Attitude today?"

You smile and smack him playfully (softly- wouldn't want to hurt your man :-)!! ) and say, "You are just to easy that is all! Ok, what do you want to know?"

"Hmmm... what we are planning on doing today would be a good start!" Brian says.

"I thought I told you yesterday- oh wait- this morning that I would surprise you!"

"Oh you want to play mysterious do you?" he winks, "I guess mysterious is ok with me." He squeezes your hand- a simple friendly gesture. Friendly or not, you are in heaven! Returning both hands to the steering wheel, he turns left. "I am glad the weather held up! I was a little hesitant on renting the convertible," Brian smirks.

"Yeah, it is perfect convertible weather!" you smile as you look into his captivating blue eyes. You are beginning to loosen up and become more comfortable. Afterall, how can you be uncomfortable next to a guy this friendly? You see your church pass on the right, "That is my church."

He nods in approval, "I see."

"What?"

"Oh nothing," he gives you a goofy grin.

"No, now you have to tell me."

"It is just that you seem too good to be true," he smiles.

You blush.

"No I am serious," he continues, "You see me for who I really am, you are down to earth, religious, friendly, funny, pretty," he looks into your eyes, "Oh, and you can sing!"

"Me... sing?" you continue to blush.

"Yeah... don't be so modest! Your voice is beautiful. That is talent." Brian smiles again and continues to look at you.

"Then there is you, speaking of talent." You turn the tables.

"Don't change the subject, but thanks!" it is his turn to blush, "I am serious though, girls like you don't come around too often."

"Wow, Brian, that means so much, especially coming from you," you look at him directly in the eyes as you accept the compliment... complimentS actually.

He continues, "Yeah, girls like you make the greatest friends!" He pats your hand again.

You smile and think to yourself, "yeah a great friend, that is all I can ever be to you!" You look out the window.

"What's wrong? Was it something I said?" he looks concerned.

"No, I am enjoying the beautiful day, silly!" you smile at the immature name you call him.

"Good, yes it is!" he focuses on the road and continues to drive, "So are we just driving forever or are you planning on directing me?"

"Chill, we have only been driving a few blocks! Almost there," you inform him.

"Almost where?" he questions.

"Brian, you are too much! It is a SURPRISE!"

"Alrighty then," he gives you another goofy smirk.

"OK, turn right here," you tell him.

"Think I can handle that," he states confidently.

"You sure?" you joke.

"You doubt my driving ability?"

"No, not at all!" you smirk.

"Good," he states plainly.

"Pull in here," you direct him.

"A school yard, not the usual tourist attraction, but whatever works!" Brian says skeptically.

"How many times have I told you to chill?" you laugh as he turns off the car.

"I am just in suspense... too big of a surprise... a SCHOOL YARD... who would have thought?" he laughs.

"Stop it already, you will like this!" you get out of his car.

"OK, I am trusting you," he exits the car and joins your side.

"About time." You lead him to the corner of the school and before turning say, "Stay here for a second, no peeking."

You dash around the corner, pick up a basketball, and dribble it back to where Brian is waiting, "OK, B-ROK, prepare to meet your doom!"

"Where?" he smiles as he kids around.

"Oh come one, ME!"

"Oh, a challenge?"

"Definitely," you dribble the ball through your legs with ease.

"Uh oh, Brian, the lady's got skills," he says aloud to himself, intending for you to hear.

"You better believe it, bud!" you pass him the ball.

"Ok, it is a game! They don't call me B-ROK for nothing!"

"Good, a game it is." you lead him around the corner to the recently paved basketball court.

"Hey maybe this won't be so bad after all," he says to you.

"You doubted me?" you ask.

"Never said that."

"Oh, so what did you say?" you reply with a little attitude.

"I said, YOU'RE ON!!" he takes the ball and begins to dribble.... hmm... this will be a FUN game!!!
