Archibald Jenkins Horton was born January 2nd 1829 in Alabama. He was mustered into Company B 1st Alabama And Tennessee Independent Vidette Cavalry on September 10th 1863 at Stevenson, Alabama as second Lieutenant. He mustered out on June 16th 1864 at Stevenson, Alabama. After his service time he was elected probate Judge of Dekalb County from 1869 to 1875, and during this time he lived at Lebanon. He later moved to Sand Mountain where he operated a mercantile store in the New Harmony Community. He died March 14th, 1905 near Geraldine, Alabama.
