Positive Aikido - The Book
Scheduled for publication Late 2004

The book is now complete, we have used the time delay to re-shoot some of the photos,and to make some further additions. Below are some shots for the proposed back and front covers.

USA ESTA ShoDan Grade Promotion 18th August 2004..

Paul Emmel a student of Sensei Dave Rogers the ESTA USA representative has received his ShoDan grading and is proud to be the first home grown USA dan grade. The grading took place at the "Sun World Gym Dojo" on 10th Street, Alamogordo, New Mexico, USA.

A meeting with Sensei Eric Dollimore.

12th/August/2004. Henry Ellis and Derek Eastman were very pleased to meet with Sensei Eric Dollimore who they trained with at the HUT dojo in the 1950's under Kenshiro Abbe sensei, Sensei Dollimore was the third person to reach dan grade in the United Kingdom a very special feat in those days.it was great to talk about the old days and re-run so many memories.

Sensei Al Montemar. Plano. Dallas. Texas. USA.

Sensei Al Montemar of Texas USA has recently moved from the Town of College Station to Plano near Dallas, he has now opened a ESTA dojo in that area. details to be added. Sensei Montemar hopes to link up with another ESTA instructor Joe Fraley in that area .

Sensei Pierre Chassang

Sensei Pierre Chassang 8th dan Aikido. On the 20th August 2003 Sensei's Ellis and Eastman were pleased to meet with Sensei Chassang and Sensei Michael Nery at the National Aikido Federations summer course, we first met Sensei Chassang in 1960 at the HUT with Nakazono sensei, we were very pleased to meet with him again, and over lunch we discussed Jack Poole's false claims to have trained with Tadashi Abe sensei in 1952, Sensei Chassang stated that there were no English students with Sensei Abe in those early years.

We have a new article by Mr Nigel Porter of the "Tokushima Budo Council International (Judo)" and also the "Traditional Aikido Iwama Ryu GB", which explains the origins of Martial Arts in the UK, and in particular the profound impact Kenshiro Abbe Sensei had on both UK Martial Arts in general and UK Aikido in particular. Grading News
28th January 2002

There was a grading on the 28th January. Of particular note was the fact that both Mr Paul Zolic and Mr Brad Beeden were graded to 1st Dan.  Congratulations!!!!  We'll have more info and some photo's soon.

Grading News
January 2002/November 2001

Two of our members have recently visited Japan.  In January of this year Sensei Derek Eastman visited Osaka Aikikai, while in November of last year, another of our members, Paul Rogers, re-visited the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Tokyo.Sensei Rogers had previously trained at the Hombu Dojo for two years.  Again more info and photo's soon.
